Calista Joy Harmon, age 88 of Joplin, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Communities of Wildwood in Joplin following an extended illness.
Calista was born August 11, 1927 in El Dorado, Kansas to the late Claude Jones and Calista Miller Jones. She has lived and worked in the Joplin area most of her life, working as a seamstress. Calista was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan up to the very end.
She married Claude Fredrick Harmon whom preceded her in death in 1987. Also preceding her are two daughters, Sharon Haun and Teresa Nichols; brothers, Kenneth and Glen Jones.
Calista is survived by daughters, Dollie McCann and husband, Darin of Joplin, Claudia Arnold and husband, Paul of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; son, David Balcom and wife, Sherry of Joplin.; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grand children and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday, September 22nd at 11:30 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Family will receive friends at the mortuary Tuesday from 10-11:00 a.m. before proceeding to service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
