Skeet Bath

Fern Morgan “Skeet” Bath, age 100, of Joplin, formerly of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at National Health Care of Joplin.

Skeet was born June 26, 1920 in in Pittsburg, Kansas, daughter of the late Arthur Morgan and Ruth Ruby (Daugherty) Morgan. She grew up in Pittsburg, and graduated from Pittsburg High School, and then Pittsburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in Education. 

She worked as a teacher for Pittsburg and Girard, Kansas schools for over 30 years before retiring. She also sold Mary Kay for over 25 years and was the bookkeeper for the family farm and Real Estate Company. 







She was a volunteer with Mercy Auxiliary, Prestige, NOLA, and TREK for years. She loved animals, especially her horses, and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She was a member of Community of Christ Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Bath, Jr. who passed away on May 3, 1984; a brother, Joe Morgan; sister, Ruth “Nonnie” Gilliland.

Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia Jill Swiler of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Stepheny Jean Bath of Webb City, Missouri; grandsons, Morgan Swiler of Lansing, Kansas, and Edward Swiler (Chris) McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Samantha Swiler, Caleb Swiler, Hudson Swiler all of McKinney, and Caden Swiler of Lansing; a brother, Art Morgan (Phyllis) of Joplin.

Fern wishes were to be cremated, and her ashes buried at Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kansas next to her husband. The family will have a private service at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joplin Humane Society.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
