Andrew Garrett

Andrew Leon Garrett passed away unexpectedly in a tragic accident on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Joplin, Missouri.

Born on March 15, 1967 in Dallas, Texas, to Stanley Alva Garrett Jr. and Katherine Helen Haggman Garrett, Andrew grew up surrounded by family and his many brothers and sisters.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stanley Garrett III (Butch) and Mark Garrett, as well as his infant sister, Karen Garrett. He is survived by sisters, Laura Garrett Postert and Elizabeth Garrett Smith, and brother, David Garrett, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Andrew was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He grew up and lived in North Texas for most of his life. Finding he had a gift caring for others, he began working in home health care and food services.

After moving to Missouri in 2006, he worked in home health care again for a short time, before working at the Downstream Casino for over twelve years, from 2008 to 2020. After suffering a stroke, Andrew moved to a local rehabilitation facility where he lived until his death.

Andrew remained positive despite facing many challenges—he was always concerned for others and looked forward to checking in and staying in touch with his many family and friends all over the world. He loved musical theater, dance, movies, and television, and enjoyed sharing his passions with others.
