Lena “Chris” Farmer, age 79, passed away at 2:20 am, Monday, May 16, 2016, at her home with her family by her side.
Chris was born May 25, 1936 to Gary and Willie (Duncan) Sexton at Galax, Virginia. She married Jack Riley on January 18, 1958 and he preceded her in death on November 22, 1998. She married Arthur Farmer on April 8, 2002. Chris was well known for her homemade pies and home cooking. She owned and operated several eating establishments in Liberal, Missouri. She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Chris also enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her great grandkids.
Chris is survived by her husband Arthur Farmer of the home; her daughters, Ann (Jack) Delp, and Patricia (Kenneth) Wright, both of Galax, Virginia, Teresa (Don) Taylor and Joyce (Joe) Engle, both of Liberal, Missouri; a brother, Wayne Sexton and a sister Imogene Spencer, both of Galax, Virginia; eleven grandkids and seventeen great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Jack Riley; a sister, Fern and a brother Virgil.
A memorial service will take place 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Liberal Park Building. Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
