Jerry Hennen

Gerald “Jerry” “Gummy” Hennen, 75, of Parsons, passed away at 2:49 a.m., February 2, 2022 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

He was born on June 3, 1946, at Richmond, Virginia. He grew up at Washington, D.C. and attended schools there graduating from a military high school.

Following high school Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as an underwater welder and then was requested to go through BUD/S training. 








Upon completion of BUD/S training he became a Navy Seal and was on some the first Seal Teams in Vietnam. He engaged in covert operations in Vietnam and southeast Asia. He was wounded on a mission and was later discharged from the Navy.

He met Martha Ferguson after he was injured on a cross country motorcycle trip. He moved to Labette County and they were married in 1968. They later divorced. He later married Robin Green and they later divorced.

Jerry worked as a powder coating and sand basting technician. He worked primarily on water towers. He later attended the Labette Community College where he received an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then worked as an Electrical technician and lineman for a cable company. Following his retirement Jerry stayed active doing many side jobs.

Jerry is survived by his four sons, Gerald Dennis Clark “D.C.” Hennen of Cherryvale, Douglas Hennen, and his wife, Lori of Duenweg, MO, Gerald David Charles “Jerry” Hennen, and his wife, Kailee of Parsons, and Dustine Jon Hennen, and his wife, Shannon of Parsons; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his twin sisters, Diana and Diane; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Hennen.
