Bob Edens

Robert “Bob” Ray Edens, age 82, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 1:39 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. He was born December 4, 1939, the son of the late Earl John and Bernice Marie (Stockton) Edens. 

Bob worked for Talbot Wire for many years and then worked for the Lozier Corporation, from which he retired. 










He loved attending car shows, rebuilding antique cars, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. Bob was a member of the Silver Moon Gospel Church for many years. Robert and Phyllis Jean Frye were married in Neosho in 1967. They later divorced, but that union resulted in two children. In 1976 Robert married Opal Thornburg Ledford in Miami, Oklahoma. She passed on March 28, 2013.

He is survived by his two children, Cheryl (Ray) Hadley of Seattle, Washington, and Pam Baker of Joplin; one brother, Kenneth (Jolene) Edens, also of Joplin; five granddaughters, Alexandra Rice, Samantha Hadley, and Kassidy, Autumn and Holly Baker; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Owen, and Caleb Rice; stepson, Chris (Tina) Ledford of Granby, Missouri, step-grandson, Calvin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides being preceded in death by his wife and parents, Robert was also preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Ray Edens; three sisters, Geneva Earline Edens, Charolett Kay Rinehart, and Joyce Lee Simpson; and two brothers, Freddie Dale Edens and Larry Donald Edens.

Visitation with viewing will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Clark Funeral Home in Granby, Missouri. On Saturday, February 19, 2022, the funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Granby, with burial following at Greenwood Cemetery. He will be missed by many who knew him.
