Edward Burkholder

Edward Burkholder, age 89, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Edward was born in Pittsburg, KS on May 3, 1932, to the late Robert and Eloise (Scott) Burkholder.

Edward graduated high school and went on to receive his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Shortly after college, he joined the United States Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA where he served his country honorably.






 

On April 30, 1971, Edward married the love of his life, Ingeburg Walter in Baton Rouge, LA. Together they enjoyed traveling and doing their many works of volunteering all over the world. They began their first works with the The People of Eastern Helping People in 1984. Edward was an instrumental committee member who helped relief missions to the people of Ethiopia and the Rio Grande Valley by organizing flights for airdrops of medical supplies, clothing, and food. After retiring, they moved to the Joplin area to make their home. He enjoyed motorcycles and was a licensed pilot for 60 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ingeburg Burkholder, of Joplin; and one nephew, Mike Burkholder, of Noel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Linda Burkholder, and Daniel Burkholder; two brothers, Bob Burkholder, and Larry Burkholder; and one sister, Jean Middleton.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
