Dave Kreeger

David Lloyd “Dave” Kreeger, age 66, of Exeter, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026 at his home.

He was born July 5, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of J. Lloyd and Sadie (Sanders) Kreeger. On September 22, 1984 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Resz, who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Tommy Ray and wife Sharon, of Exeter, Missouri, and Shawn Garrison and wife Melissa of Exeter, Missouri; brother, Steve Kreeger and wife Gayla of Galena, Kansas; sisters, Cherie Kafton and husband Loren of Joplin, Missouri, and Susan Parrott of Lakeside, California; grandchildren, Robert Seekamp and wife Amber of Cassville, Missouri, Briana Hatfield and husband Ryan of Exeter, Missouri, and Sarah Thompson and husband Alex of Belton, Missouri; 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Luella Seekamp; son, Bobby Ray; grandson, Dylan Ray, and granddaughter, Amanda Seekamp.

Dave grew up and attended school in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He made his home in the Exeter area for the past 43 years after moving here from Kansas.

Dave was a familiar and friendly face in the community. He owned and operated Dave’s Café in Cassville for 15 years before leasing the Dock-N-Eat restaurant at Big M Marina in Cassville for six years.

Dave enjoyed going to the YMCA in Monett, walking, woodworking, working outdoors, spending time with his dogs and cats and taking care of his chickens. He was an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia and anything related to eagles. Above all, Dave treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. Dave attended Victory Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Russell Bishop will conduct the services. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Rose Graves

Rose Lee Graves, age 80, of Purdy, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026 at her son's home.

She was born December 5, 1945 in Joplin, Missouri the daughter of Lee and Rita Phillips. Rose was United in marriage to Kenneth Graves, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and daughter, Karen Murray.

Surviving are her son, Kevin Graves of Exeter, Missouri; brothers, Gerald Phillips of Reno, Nevada, and Denzel Phillips of Billings, Missouri; grandchildren, Shelby, Kimberly, and Tosha and great grandchildren, Xavier and Jaxson.

Rose attended school in Pierce City, Missouri, graduating from Pierce City High School. She made her home in the area for most of her life.

Rose dedicated 30 years of her career to Tyson Foods Incorporated in Monett, Missouri. Following her time at Tyson, she continued her work in the poultry industry as a USDA poultry inspector.

In her free time, Rose enjoyed reading and watching television, especially cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. She was a member of Solid Rock Southern Baptist Church. Rose will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Andrea Cross

Andrea R. Cross, 74, of Greenfield, MO, passed away on September 3, 2026, in Joplin, MO.

Andrea was born August 5, 1952, to Ellis and Velma (Mohwinkel) Spain. She graduated from Lockwood High School in 1970 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Baptist University in December of 1973. Andrea began teaching, but while working full time and raising a family, she returned to SBU and earned her Master’s degree in 1990.

Andrea accepted Jesus as her Savior on Mother’s Day in 1960. While in high school, she was the lead singer for the group Kings Crusaders, which was composed of members of the youth group at Kings Point Baptist Church near Lockwood, MO.

During college, she was a member of the gospel group "Way, Truth, and Life," which performed in several cities across southern Iowa and northern Missouri. The group even recorded an album before two of the members left to get married and the group dissolved.

While attending SBU, and for a few years after college, she served as music leader and devotional leader for dozens of revivals. She was also a summer missionary in California during the summer of 1973. Andrea was a lifelong educator. That passion for serving students started with a teaching job at Cole Camp, MO, in January of 1974.

Andrea married Charles Cross of Lebanon, MO, on May 26, 1974.

That summer, Andrea worked as a periodicals librarian at SBU. That fall, her teaching career took her to Exeter High School, where she worked for two years. In 1976, she accepted a position at Greenfield High School, where she spent the majority of her teaching career, serving for more than 20 years as a teacher and coach. Andrea also taught at Pierce City Schools and Round Grove Christian Academy and ran Adult Basic Education GED classes in Greenfield for several years.

She finished her career as a counselor at Dadeville High School. Andrea called these final years as a counselor her most fulfilling in education. She worked tirelessly to ensure that any student desiring a college education was able to reach that goal. Her knowledge of colleges and scholarships allowed students from many area schools to get a college education and achieve their dreams.

In December of 2023, Missouri State Representative Ann Kelley presented Andrea with a House resolution congratulating her on 50 years of teaching in Missouri. Even after retirement, Andrea continued helping students improve their college admission scores and earn scholarships to help pay for that education.

During her 49 years of marriage to Charles, Andrea served as a music leader, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and in any other capacity needed to serve God in the various churches they served.

Andrea provided extensive volunteer service to her community as well. She helped start the Dade County Community Theatre and was on the team that revived the historic Opera House in Greenfield in 1988.

She served as secretary of the Greenfield Ministerial Alliance, volunteered for Ozarks Food Harvest, and served as a judge for the Veterans of Foreign Wars speech contest and other area speech competitions.

Andrea was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cross; her parents, Ellis and Velma Spain; her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Delores Spain; her sister Louise Houston; and her sister-in-law, Wanda (Morrow) Spain.

She is survived by her brothers, Leroy (Linda) Spain of South Greenfield, MO, and Neal Spain of Derby, KS; her children, Sheila (Stephen) Buus, Philip (Keiana) Cross of Edmond, OK, and Annette (Scott) Wagoner of Webb City, MO; and her grandchildren, Josiah Wagoner, Isaiah Wagoner, Selah Cross, Karis Cross, and Eliana Buus.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026 at Main Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Kings Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Solace House of the Ozarks. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.

Evelyn Barnard

Evelyn Ruth Barnard (Parminter), 99, passed away at her home in Lee's Summit, Missouri on August 25, 2026. Evelyn was born on July 1, 1927, in Lockwood, Missouri to Edgar & Lois Parminter.

Evelyn was a graduate of Southwest Baptist College. Evelyn taught for two years in a one room schoolhouse in King's Point, Missouri. Evelyn worked as a social worker for Neosho County and as Clerk of the Court in Chanute, Kansas. Evelyn was a homemaker, and an office nurse for a small-town physician in Chanute and El Dorado, Kansas.

Evelyn married the love of her life Richard (Dick) Barnard on June 19, 1949. Together they raised two sons, Greg and Bill, and a daughter Andie. Evelyn and Dick lived in Columbia and Lockwood Missouri, Chanute and El Dorado Kansas while raising their children.

Evelyn and Dick loved playing cards, games, square dancing, and travelling with friends. Evelyn loved to shop and was always dressed for success. She had earrings, necklaces, purses and shoes for every outfit. Evelyn and Dick ("the folks" to their kids) moved to Lee's Summit in 1992 to be near their children and grandchildren in the area.

Evelyn was very active in the First Baptist Church, singing in the choir into her 80's, playing piano, and anything social in their church. Evelyn was a treasured friend to many and volunteered with many groups in the church. She was a great mother, grandmother and a wonderful mother-in-law.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Greg, Bill (Darlene), and her grandchildren, Amy (Steve), Jeremy (Bobbi), Erin (Jon), Caitlin, and Luke (Hailey). The folks also have four greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Dick of 75 years, her daughter Andie, her parents, and two brothers, Eddy & Keith.

Graveside services in Lockwood Missouri will be held at a later time.

Any donations made in Evelyn's honor can be made to the First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit or a charity of their choice.

Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Tom Melton

Tom Melton, 83, of Dadeville, passed away on September 3rd, 2026, surrounded by family.

Tom was married to Lenora Melton for 36 years, and they had five children: Tommy, who passed away at birth; Kim (Howard) Yocom, Jeff (Rebecca) Melton, Nikki (Heath) Tibbetts, and Mandy (Jere) Jackson. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Frances Melton, and his brother, Max Melton.

Tom was a hard worker who took great pride in providing for his family. He spent many years farming and driving a truck over the road. He also spent years working with hay crews, where he was known for making sure everyone worked hard and got the job done. He had a lifelong love of tractors and spent countless hours working in the fields. Over the years, he also enjoyed purchasing toy tractors for his grandsons and nephews, sharing with them something he had loved throughout his own life.

Tom had a generous heart and was always willing to help his family, and others in need. His nieces and nephews fondly remember him as the uncle who often showed up with M&Ms, a simple gesture that became a cherished memory.

Tom also enjoyed working with his hands, particularly woodworking and carpentry. He made many keepsakes for the people he loved, including rocking chairs for his grandchildren, baby doll cribs for his daughters, and countless shelves and bookshelves. These things remain as reminders of the time, care, and craftsmanship he gave to his family.

In his later years, Tom developed a special love for his dogs, particularly his long-haired Chihuahuas. His children found this especially amusing because, growing up, he never allowed them to have indoor pets. Somehow, in his later years, the man who once said no to indoor animals became quite fond of having his little dogs by his side.

Tom also had a beautiful singing voice, and his family has fond memories of hearing him sing alongside the piano at Dadeville First Christian Church, accompanied by Geneva Maze.

Later in life, Tom was blessed to reconnect with a high school sweetheart, Rebecca Dodson. They shared 4 years together before her passing in January 2025. After her passing, Tom’s own health began to decline, and he spent his final year at Ash Grove’s Healthcare Facility, where he was cared for by many compassionate nurses and caregivers. His family is deeply grateful for the kindness they showed him during that time.

Tom will be remembered and deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Celebration of Life services will begin at 11:00AM, Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Eudora Baptist Church-Gym. A time of visitation will follow celebration of life services until 1:00PM.

Clifford Willis

May 15, 1941 - September 3, 2026

Clifford Lee Willis was born in Watts, Oklahoma. To Lee and Dixie (Armstrong) Willis. From there they went to Baxter Springs, Kansas before settling in Asbury, MO. Clifford attended school in Asbury and graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1959.

Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army. After that he was employed by Fairchild both in Joplin and New Jersey. Upon retiring, he moved back to Joplin where he has lived since. Clifford passed away on September 4, 2026. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dixie (Willis) Riley. 

He is survived by his sister Linda (Willis) Watts (Buddy), Three nephews, Bill Custis (Andrea), Donnie Frost (Michelle), Johnnie Frost (Susan) and several great- nieces and nephews.

His final resting place will be at Crocker Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.

Mark Price

Mark A. Price, age 68, of Joplin, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home on September 2, 2026.

Mark was born on July 14, 1958 in Joplin, Missouri to his parents Paul and L. Francine (Cox) Price. He married his wife Patricia Cummings on September 15, 1979 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He worked for many years as an RN at Mercy and Baxter Memorial Hospital before his retirement in 2012.

Mark is survived by his wife, Pat; one daughter, Kristy Weeks, son-in-law, Nick Weeks; and one granddaughter, Lorelei Weeks.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

There are no formal services scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for Solace House in Joplin in Mark’s name.

 

Carla Lawson

Carla Nelle Lawson, of Joplin, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at Freeman Hospital West.

Carla was born on October 14, 1965, in Afton, Oklahoma. She grew up surrounded by family, sharing her childhood with her sister and five brothers. Family was the most important part of Carla’s life, and the relationships she built with those around her continued to be a meaningful part of who she was. Carla love her children, grandchildren and great grandson more than anything. 

She earned her bachelor’s degree and went on to build a career in accounting. For many years, Carla worked in the accounting department at KMT Waterjet Systems in Baxter Springs, Kansas, where she was a highly valued part of the company.

Carla was preceded in death by her father, Andy Lawson; her stepfather Jimmie Frost; her brother, Ronnie Lawson; and her sister, Karen Lawson.

She is survived by her daughters, Kamelia Lawson and Kalicia Stacy; her son, Coy Lawson; her mother, Pauline Frost; her brothers, Andy Lawson, Christopher Lawson, Micky Lawson, and Randy Lawson; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many extended family members and friends who will remember her and miss her dearly.

A funeral service for Carla will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2026, at Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin.

The family will receive friends and visitors beginning at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Carla’s life was shared with many people who loved her, and she leaves behind a family and circle of friends who will carry her memory with them in the days ahead.

Ben Hedrick

Benjamin David Hedrick, age 21, was never one for quiet rooms or traditional goodbyes. Ben lived life with the throttle wide open, leaving a trail of laughter and unforgettable memories everywhere he went. He didn’t just enter a room; he took it over with his high-voltage energy, and a smile so bright it could light up the darkest night. His laugh was loud, pure, and absolutely infectious—the kind of sound that forced everyone else to start laughing too.

His true happy place was wherever his family and friends were gathered. He had a deep love for soccer, and driving bringing that same fierce passion, happiness, and energy to the pitch. Above all, Ben was a fiercely loyal protector of his crew and his family. Nothing fueled him more than the people he loved, and he packed more loyalty and genuine connection into his 21 years than most people manage in a century.

Ben had a beautiful, natural bond with children; they were instantly drawn to his playful energy He was a remarkably hardworking, committed, and selfless young man. Even in the toughest conditions, Ben persevered through the hard times without complaint. He always did right by others—even if it meant carrying the heavier load himself. He treated everyone, even someone he had just met, with deep respect. Known for his incredible patience and forgiving nature, Ben knew exactly how to cheer people up when times were tough, serving beautifully as the calm to the storm for those who loved him most. While he left us far too soon, the light he brought into our lives can never be dimmed.

Instead of heavy hearts and somber tears, Ben would want us to remember the warmth of his smile, his beautiful patience, and the sound of his wild laughter. He taught us all to live fully, love fiercely, and cherish every single moment with the people who matter most.

Ben’s vibrant spirit lives on through his loving parents, Heidi Clark-Hedrick and Ricky Hedrick Jr., and his adoring girlfriend and the love of his life, Ella Schwab. He is forever cheered on by his siblings, Grace Nunely (husband Lance), Levi Hedrick, and Ricky Hedrick III (wife Joy). His memory will be fiercely cherished by his grandparents, Dan and Shelly Clark, Cherie and Mike Hendrickson, and Rita Hedrick, alongside a massive circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5th at Faith Tabernacle Church in Joplin, MO. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin , MO.

George Jennings

George Robert Jennings, age 85 of Marionville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at his home. He was born December 8, 1940 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma, the son of Howard and Lydia (Cunningham) Jennings.

George grew up in Big Cabin, Oklahoma and graduated from high school in 1959. He attended college at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Missouri University of Science and Technology.

George enlisted in the Army in 1963 and served an entire year in Vietnam with the 509th Radio Research Group, which was the primary U.S. Army Security Agency (ASA) unit in Vietnam, providing critical signals intelligence (SIGINT) and communications security. After discharging from the Army in 1966, he married and had 2 children, Deana and Kevin. 

The family moved to Bremerton, Washington where he worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center as an Electrical/Electronics Engineer Involved with design and proof testing torpedoes and mines for the Navy. After divorce, he remarried the former Cleo Amo, also of Bremerton in 1986, where they remained for several years. 

He retired in 1997 with 29 years and 5 months of federal service. After retirement, George and Cleo moved to Marionville, MO to be closer to George’s four older brothers, all of whom preceded him in death. George was active in the community, having served as a Marionville Alderman in Ward 1. In his final years, George indulged in hobbies, which included collecting historical information about Big Cabin, and tracing lineage on Ancestry.com.

A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Big Cabin Cemetery in Big Cabin, Oklahoma.

Phillip Sanders

Phillip Wayne Sanders, 82, of Aurora passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026 in his home. He was born June 5, 1944 in Springfield, MO., the son of Harvey and Inez (Henry) Sanders. He was a retired diesel mechanic and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Kathy; three sons, David Sanders and wife, Christy of Republic, MO., Jim Sanders and wife, Roxanne of Cedar Falls, IA. and Justin Sanders of Aurora, MO.; two daughters, Patricia Loomis and husband, David and Angela Wilson and husband, Herman of Aurora, MO.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Marion and Max Sanders.

Memorial services will be held Monday, September 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield with full military honors.

Denzel Gordon

Denzel Dean Gordon of Lamar, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday September 2, 2026. He was born in Lamar, Missouri, on June 21, 1936, to Isa and David Gordon.

He was a proud graduate of Lamar High School, Class of 1955. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he had the opportunity to combine his service with one of his lifelong passions—photography. While in the Air Force, he took photographs from airplanes, beginning what would become a lifelong love of capturing memories through a camera.

After leaving the Air Force, he returned home to Lamar. He later married and moved to Wichita, Kansas, before returning to Lamar in the early 1970s, where he would make his home and become a familiar and well-loved member of the community.

Throughout his working years, he held many different jobs, including working at the bowling alley and taking on various odd jobs. He eventually began working for O'Sullivan Industries, where he worked in maintenance and as a tool and die maker until his retirement. Even after retirement, he continued to stay busy, working for Hardware Rental and serving on the city council.

Photography remained a special part of his life throughout the years. He operated a photography business because he truly loved taking pictures and preserving memories. He was also a man of many interests and hobbies. He loved guns of all types and even made his own bullets. An avid bowler, he spent many years enjoying the sport and the friendships that came with it. Whatever hobby he took up, he approached it with curiosity, enthusiasm, and enjoyment.

He was well known throughout the Lamar community and enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. One of his favorite places to spend time was Castle's Shoe Shop in Lamar, where he loved hanging out, telling stories, and visiting with the friends he had made over the years.

His presence, his stories, his humor, and his friendship will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, David Bowes of Arvada, Colorado; daughters, Cynthia McIntire and her partner, Rick Marti, of Lamar, Missouri; Andrea Shaver of Lamar, Missouri; and Kandace Wallace and her husband, Vance, of Wichita, Kansas; brothers, Lister Potter and his wife, Judy, of Lamar, Missouri; Clayton Alumbaugh and his wife, Queta, of Sugar Land, Texas; and Jimmy Potter and his wife, Armeta, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; as well as 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isa and David Gordon, and his brothers, David Gordon and Michael Gordon.

Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created, the photographs he captured, the friendships he cherished, and the love he gave his family will live on for generations to come.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

David Rowden

David Ray Rowden, born on April 11, 1945, in Joplin, MO, passed away at his residence in Greenfield on September 1, 2026. David, the son of the late Clifford and Ruby Rowden, was a man of great dedication and work ethic. His career as a postal carrier with the US Postal Service was a testament to his commitment and service to his community. After his retirement in 1991, David along with his brother embarked on a new endeavor as vinyl siding contractors, proving his versatility and adaptability.

David served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Saigon.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Rowden and Ruby Rowden, and brothers Paul and Dennis Rowden. He is survived by son Franky Rowden, daughter Shawnda; grandkids Kalli (Josh), Bentley, Brody, Lauren, Trever, and Trenten (Olivia); Great grandkids- Taybin, River, Vivian, Barrett, Ila, Alexander, and Jordyn, along with a brother Ray.

A celebration of life will be held at a day and time to be determined. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Simpson Funeral Home. Merlin Wood

Merlin Duane Wood, age 86, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away on Friday morning, September 4, 2026, at McDonald County Living Center. He was born on November 1, 1939, in Cottonwood, Minnesota, to the late Glenn and Gurtrude Wood.

Merlin was raised and graduated high school in Cottonwood. On December 27, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mildred Kathleen “Kathy” Nelson and to this union, two children were born. Merlin and Kathy made their home in Marshall, Minnesota, until moving to Sullivan, Missouri, in 1979. Later, in 1998, they settled in Anderson, Missouri, where they remained.

Merlin served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. He also worked as a boiler maker and later retired in 1998 from Associated Services, which he owned. Even after retirement, he remained active and industrious, working as a truck broker and assisting his son on the family farm.

In his spare time, Merlin enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, fishing, hunting, and metal detecting. He was an avid collector of many things and took great interest in the Minnesota Vikings. He was also a diehard Republican and held firm to the beliefs and convictions that shaped his life.

Merlin is survived by one daughter, JoAnna Wood; two grandchildren, Kayla Langford and her husband, Clayton, and Jacob Wood; two great-grandchildren, Bria and Sullivan Langford; as well as a host of other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

John Aplin

John F. Aplin, age 70, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the comfort of the place he loved.

John was born on October 13, 1955, in Dumas, Texas, to Roy and Ruby (Main) Aplin. He grew up with strong family values and carried those lessons with him throughout his life.

John was united in marriage to Dorothea, the love of his life. Together, they shared many years of love, companionship, and memories that will forever remain treasured.

John is survived by his wife Dorothea; one son, Roy Aplin of the home; one daughter, Christina Aplin of Gravette, Arkansas; two grandchildren; two sisters, Lenora Tucker of Cave Springs, Arkansas, and Emma Sheffield of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson.

Les Haskins

Leslie “Les” Eugene Haskins, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home in Wentworth, MO. He was born at the family home in Pierce City, MO, on Sunday April 16, 1944, the son of Frank and Pauline (Wimsatt) Haskins.

Les was a 1962 graduate of Midway High School. He married Sherry Jean Palmer on Saturday, June 18, 1966, at Dry Valley Methodist Church.

Les was a lifelong resident of the area who enjoyed farming and was a machinist by trade. He enjoyed working outdoors and spending time on his small farm. He loved spending endless hours in the shop building anything. Les was known for his work ethic among many other things. He was a very selfless and giving man who preferred others happiness over his own.

Les grew up milling alongside his dad at Jolly Mill, where he developed a lifelong love and appreciation for the mill and its history. He later served as a member of the Jolly Mill Board for approximately 10 years.

He enjoyed watching old western movies, especially John Wayne. He also enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. He most cherished time with his family, friends, and especially grandkids.

He will be deeply missed by many and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

He and his beloved wife Sherry, who he lost in 1988 have four surviving sons, Leslie F (Carol) Haskins of Moroni, UT, David (Karen) Haskins of Purdy, MO, Eric (Allison) Haskins of Edmonds, WA, and Ryan (Kristina) Haskins of Wentworth, MO. Other surviving family members include eleven grandchildren, Emily (Nathan) Abrams, Shelby (Zane) Brown, Maggie Haskins, William Haskins, Dalton Haskins, Keira Monroe-Haskins, Wyatt Haskins, Lauren Haskins, Evan Haskins, Logan Haskins, and Bella Haskins; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Haskins and Bob (Sandy) Haskins; three sisters, Mary (Wayne) Enlow, Janice (John) Weiser, and Nancy (Keith) Wallis; brothers-in-law, John Hancock and Mike (Janet) Palmer; sisters-in-law, Jayne Haskins and Diana (Danny) Milburn; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Les was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Haskins; parents, Frank and Pauline Haskins; brother, Harold Haskins; and sister, Betty Hancock. 

The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be at Dry Valley Church in Wentworth, MO on Sunday, September 6, 2026, beginning at 2:30 PM with Pastor Nathan Haskins officiating and family friend Nathan Brown. Burial will follow at Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.

Jo Heath

Marjorie “Jo” Heath, 89, of Carl Junction, MO passed away on August 31, 2026. Jo was born August 20, 1937 in Joplin, MO to Burl and Gladys Smith. Jo attended high school in Joplin, MO. she retired from Joplin Workshop as a supervisor, working 20 plus years.

Survivors include; son, Mark Heath and daughter, Kris Acevedo (Raymond); sister, Deloris Beatty; grandchildren, Sarah Harreus (Brian), Stephanie Heath, Ashley Heath, Jerrad Heath (Jennifer), Jennifer Gandy (Sky), 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.






She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Gladys Smith, an infant brother, sons, George Heath, John Heath and a great-grandson, JayJay Hill.

The family would like to give a special thank you to NHC staff and Phoenix Hospice team for all the special care that was given.

Jim Dill

James “Jim” Herschel Dill, age 75, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on September 1, 2026.

Jim was born May 1, 1951, in Lockwood, Missouri, to Herschel Leon Dill and Dora Mae (Taylor) Dill. He graduated from Greenfield High School with the Class of 1970. On June 17, 1972, Jim married Carol Ann Schmitt in Greenfield, Missouri, and together they shared 54 years of marriage.

Jim worked at O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar for 35 years before going to work for Golden Business Forms in Golden City. He later became a driver for the Amish, a job he especially enjoyed and often said was his favorite.

Jim was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lamar. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight for several years. Jim was always willing to lend a hand and was known for organizing numerous fundraisers. He could often be found at the fair cooking turkey legs and pork rinds and visiting with friends and members of the community.

Jim enjoyed fishing and was an avid baseball fan, faithfully watching both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves. Above all, though, Jim loved his family. His favorite pastime was picking on his grandchildren, a tradition they will surely remember with a smile for years to come.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carol; two sons, Brad (Jennifer) Dill of Carthage, Missouri, and Mike (Autumn) Dill of Brookline, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Devin Dill, Lanishea Lambert, Eric Dill, Wyatt Dill, Dakota Dill, Hollie Dill, and Steven Dill; five step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Diane) Dill of Sylvania, Missouri; and four sisters, Susan (Gary) Sewel of Joplin, Missouri, Elaine Harper of Greenfield, Missouri, Linda Sexton of Greenfield, Missouri, and Rose Moore of Lebanon, Missouri.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and his in-laws, Ralph and Carol Schmitt.

A Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2026, at Daniel Funeral Home, with visitation to follow from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lamar, Missouri, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lamar.

Barbara Hughes

Barbara June Hughes, age 76, of Asbury, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following a sudden illness.

She was born on November 22, 1949, in El Paso, Texas, and throughout her life she carried with her the strength, warmth, and resilience that came to define her. Barbara was a loving, adventurous, and selfless woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. She lived a life marked by devotion to her family, loyalty to her friends, and a steady commitment to the people and places she held dear.

Barbara graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1967, beginning a lifelong journey of hard work and dedication. She later retired from Schreiber Foods, where she served as a Human Resource Assistant for 37 years. Her long career reflected her dependable nature, her strong work ethic, and her ability to connect with others in a kind and thoughtful way. She was respected by those who worked alongside her and appreciated for the care and professionalism she brought to her role each day.

Family was at the center of Barbara's life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Peterson and Doris (Long) Lawver, as well as her son, John Hughes, and her sisters, Debbie and Kay. She is survived by her son, James Hughes and wife, Sarah of Asbury, Missouri, and by her beloved grandchildren, Hunter, Holden, Mikeal, Nathan, and Vanessa. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Fontana and Tymber, who brought her great happiness and pride. Barbara treasured her family deeply and found some of her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those who knew Barbara will remember her for her loving heart and her adventurous spirit. She enjoyed hanging out with her grandkids, taking long drives, and having fun at the casino. These simple pleasures reflected the way she embraced life, finding happiness in time spent with loved ones and in the enjoyment of everyday moments. She had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her selfless nature touched many lives over the years.

Barbara's life was one of quiet strength, enduring love, and meaningful connection. She faced life with grace and a generous spirit, and she will be remembered for the kindness she showed, the memories she created, and the love she shared so freely. Her family and friends will carry forward her memory with gratitude for the time they were given with her.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Goodwin Funeral Home of Webb City, Missouri.

Jonny Moser

Jonny Ray Moser, age 84 of Seneca, Missouri formerly of Duenweg, Missouri passed away August 22, 2026.

He was born December 18, 1941, in Joplin, Missouri to Raymord and Verna (Webb) Moser.






Jonny worked for Joplin Special Road District. He attended Diamond Grove Christian Church.

Pat Savage

Patsy Ruth “Pat” Savage, age 80, of Exeter, Missouri passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.

She was born November 7, 1945 in Newton County, Missouri, the daughter of Ted and Margie (Stephenson) Bradford. On August 25, 1962 in Cassville, Missouri she was united in marriage to James Savage, who survives. 

Also surviving are her son, Jim Savage and wife Rhonda of Exeter, Missouri; sisters, Janie Bateman and husband Don of Rogers, Arkansas, and Barbara Bradford of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kendale Ellis and husband Jordan, Jordan Savage and wife Brianna, Cody Cantwell and wife Lauren, and Chase Cantwell and wife Adison, and eight great grandchildren, Ryder, Remy, June, Lena, William, Jasper, Konrad, and Scottie.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Loretta “Lori” Cantwell; sister, Linda Beavers, and brother, Bob Bradford.

Pat grew up and attended school in Wheaton, Missouri, and was a lifelong resident of Barry County. She enjoyed being a homemaker and the simple pleasures in life, including watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball and attending bluegrass festivals.

Pat was a member of Ridgley Church of Christ in Ridgley, Missouri, her faith was an important part of her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Gary Cook and Denny LeMaster will conduct the services. Burial will be at Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort, Missouri.

Christopher Kelly

Christopher John Kelly, 52, Seneca, MO passed away September 2, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri after a long illness.

Christopher was born October 15, 1973, in Stella, Missouri; the son of Phillip and Shirley Kelly (Brock). He was a lifelong resident of the Seneca area graduating from Seneca High School in 1992. He earned his auto body certification from Crowder College and continued his career working as an auto body technician for Seneca Collision Center in Seneca, Classic Cars and Griffith Motor Company in Neosho, Missouri. 

There was no job or task that Christopher was afraid to try and do. He enjoyed helping others with their mechanical and autobody repairs. Christopher had many hobbies including fishing, watching KC Chiefs football, watching wildlife and spending time with his family. He loved spending time with his grandkids and late-night talks with his friends and family.

Christopher married Melody (Epperson) on October 5, 2007, in Neosho, MO, she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Kirsten Megill and husband Austin and grandchildren Haydan, Emory, Kai, and Axton, Neosho, MO. Destiny Kelly, Neosho, MO. Three siblings, Lisa McDonald (Mahurin) and husband Jamie, Granby, MO. Tresha Tice and husband Brian, Joplin, MO., and Thomas Kelly, Seneca, MO.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Phillip and Shirley Kelly. His Grandparents, John D. and Minnie Kelly and Nelson and Dorthy Brock.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 6pm, Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO. After visitation the body will been taken for cremation. A private family burial will occur at later date.

Alma Block

Alma Lou Block, 90, of Wichita, Kansas passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends, August 25, 2026.

She was born March 22, 1936 in Neosho, Missouri to Raymond Hurt and Alma Bell Mills. She was the youngest of six.

Preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Ray Block, and her son, Joseph Dale Irvin. Survived by daughter, Terry Johnson, and son, Douglas (Patti) Irvin, Jr, grandchildren Amie (Rob) Huntley, Clyta (Curtis) Spain, Melissa (Mike) McClendon, Wesley (Diana) Johnson, April Mann, Janelle (Efrain) Lopez, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Alma was a wonderful mother and grandmother, loving her family with all her heart. Her love and concern for others was evident in all that she did as well. She loved to pray for and help others however she could. She was active in church and church groups all of her life. 

She loved Jesus and looked forward to seeing Him. She also enjoyed playing (and winning) games with family and friends. Her fun sense of humor and competitiveness was a joy to be around. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Judy Johnson

Judy Kay Johnson, age 65, of Noel, Missouri, passed away on September 1, 2026. She was born on August 2, 1961, in Fort Benning, Georgia, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and thoughtfulness toward everyone who knew her.

Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Joe Johnson Jr. of Noel, Missouri; her son, Jeremy Johnson and his wife Hannah of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her daughter, Andrea Johnson of Noel, Missouri; and her four cherished grandchildren, Mason, Charlee, Lydia, and Joey. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them. 

She is also survived by her mother and father, Robert and Donna Alfaro of Wichita, Kansas; her siblings, Jody Alfaro of Wichita, Kansas, Tamara Harris and her husband Brent of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Mike Alfaro and his wife Denise of Garden Plain, Kansas; her father-in-law, Joe Johnson Sr. of Noel, Missouri; and her sisters-in-law, Glenda Dalton and her husband Danny of Washburn, Missouri, and Bev Goff and her husband Jess of Nokomis, Florida. Judy also leaves behind a large and loving extended family that included so many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a sea of cousins who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Judy spent more than 20 years working for Walmart, where she built lasting relationships and made many lifelong friendships. She took pride in her work and was known for the genuine care she showed to those around her. Her coworkers and friends remember her as someone who could always be counted on for a kind word, a helping hand, and a warm smile. She carried herself with a gentle spirit and a steady compassion that made others feel welcome and valued.

Above all else, Judy loved her family time. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and gave her strength and joy each day. She loved watching them grow, hearing their laughter, and being part of their lives in every way she could. Her home and heart were always open to the people she loved, and she found happiness in the simple, meaningful moments shared with family.

Judy also enjoyed a wide variety of music and could often be found enjoying the familiar comfort of Wheel of Fortune. She had a special fondness for Snoopy, and all things connected to that beloved character. These favorite pastimes reflected the warmth and joy she brought into everyday life. She appreciated the little things, and that appreciation was one of the many ways she made life brighter for those around her.

Those who knew Judy will remember her as a loving, kind, and thoughtful woman whose presence brought comfort and strength. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and a life lived with grace and care. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Gwyn Gillispie

Gwyn Anita Gillispie was born on February 9, 1949, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the eldest of six children born to Carroll “Max” and Zylpha (Walker) Blackburn. She entered into rest in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family, at the age of 77. 

Gwyn graduated from Malvern High School in Malvern, Iowa, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State College. 

On March 25, 1971, she and Robert Gerald Gillispie were united in marriage. The family moved to Neosho in 1978 from Stanberry, Missouri. Gwyn worked briefly as a lab technician at Sale Memorial Hospital (now Freeman Neosho) before beginning her teaching career. She taught junior high and senior high science at Cassville, Joplin, Carthage, and East Newton for over twenty years. During this time, she especially loved watching and supporting Bob and her children, Terri and Doug, as they coached and played various sports. On November 17, 2011, after sharing 40 years together, Bob preceded her in death. 

After a serious health scare, Gwyn tapped into her adventurous spirit, traveling to over 30 countries on four continents. She had a passion for the outdoors, was a Master Naturalist, and loved camping, fishing, gardening, and bird-watching. She was an avid painter, working in both oil and watercolor (oftentimes with her granddaughter, Riley), and she loved challenging her friends and sisters to games of Mahjong or the daily Wordle. 

Gwyn loved doing activities and having fun with her other grandchildren, Oden, Liffey, and Meg, and was excited to hear about what they were up to between visits. She was especially close to her siblings, maintaining a special bond regardless of physical distance. She was often seen taking classes at the Y or serving as an election poll worker. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). 

Gwyn is survived by her two children, Terri (Gillispie) Kemna and her husband, Paul, of Neosho, and Douglas Gillispie and his wife, Jill, of Blue Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grandma Gwyn”: Riley Kemna, Oden Gillispie, Liffey Gillispie, and Mary Margaret Gillispie; three sisters, Cheryl Jones and her husband, Greg, of Malvern, IA; Marsheila Stracke and her husband, Larry, of Scottsdale, AZ; and Melonie Doyle and her husband, James, of Randolph, IA; one brother, Darin Blackburn and his wife, Nori, of Waterville, KS; her brother Ed’s partner, Kelly Howard, of Queen Creek, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Blackburn.

Betty Lane

Betty Jean Lane, 87, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026. She was born on October 14, 1938, in Maryville, Missouri, to Ferdinaud McGrane and Hattie (Herschlag) McGrane. Betty was a long-term resident of the Neosho community, where she made her home and built a life surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones.

Betty was a proud graduate of Neosho High School. She went on to work for Walmart in Neosho, beginning at the very first Walmart location in town and eventually working as a sales associate at all three Neosho locations throughout her career.

Betty was a woman who believed in hard work, community, and family. She was honored as the American Business Women’s Association Woman of the Year, recognizing her dedication and accomplishments. She was also a member of the Widow-to-Widow group, where she found friendship and fellowship with others who understood the journey of loss.

Betty had an entrepreneurial spirit and took great pride in building her own businesses, including Lanes Mini Storage and Lanes Ornamental Iron. She enjoyed seeing her hard work grow and flourish.

Betty also had a generous heart and took great pride in helping others. She especially enjoyed assisting with the Food Basket Brigade, helping provide food to those in the community who were less fortunate. Giving back and helping others was an important part of who she was.

Betty loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially treasured the time she spent with her sister, JoAnn, and enjoyed going to the casino. She also cherished the years she spent with her beloved husband, Jerry, and the life they built together.

Betty was united in marriage to Jerry Dean Lane, who preceded her in death in May 2007. Their time together was filled with memories that Betty held close to her heart.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carman and husband Jerry Williams; her sons, Larry Lane and wife Loretta, and Terry Lane and wife Mandi, all of Neosho, Missouri. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dustin Lane, Jacob Lane, Colby Lane, Paige Lane, Tucker Lane, and Landon Lane; and her great-grandchildren, Owen Lane, Porter Lane, Kylie Lane, Jacelyn Lane, Jaylei Lane, Oaklynn Yarrow, Mason Lane, Emerson Yarrow, and Saylor Lane.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferd and Hattie McGrane; her husband, Jerry Dean Lane; her sisters, JoAnn Daniels and Maxine Taylor; and her brothers, Jerry McGrane and John McGrane.

Betty will be remembered for her strong work ethic, independent spirit, generous heart, and devotion to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy built through hard work, kindness, service to others, and the love she shared with those around her. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout her years in Neosho.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Graveside services will be Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Oakwood Cemetery.
