Charles McCain

Charles William McCain passed away at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri on his 82nd birthday, December 16, 2025.

He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on December 16, 1943 to Harrell Lee and LeOra McCain.

He lived most of his life in Independence, Missouri, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1961.

Charles earned his BS and MS from the University of Central Missouri and taught shop class in the Independence, Missouri public schools for 30 years.








Charles married his wife, Myrna, on June 22, 1963.

Charles was a Christian and member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Neosho, MO.

He was an Eagle Scout in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

In the past, he served as the president of the Show-Me Appaloosa Horse Club and was also a member of the Fort Osage Muzzleloaders, Coupes Car Club of Blue Springs, Missouri, and the Retired National Education Association.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother LeOra (Claude) Richards and father Harrell (Maude) McCain, his in-laws Opal and Scott Prouty, his sister Diana Honerman, brother-in-law Merle Honerman, sister-in-law Sharon Knobe, and nephew Andrew Howard.

Along with his wife, Myrna, Charles is survived by his sons Wes (Shannon) McCain of Neosho, Missouri and Josh (Stacey) McCain of Florence, Montana, grandson Levi McCain of Kaycee, Wyoming, and stepsister and brother Darlene (Dale) Howard and Claude (LuWanna) Richards, along with several nieces and nephews.








A visitation will be held December, 23, 2025 from 10:00am-11:00am with funeral service beginning at 11:00am. Steve Eggert will officiate. Burial will follow at 3:00pm at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. The casket will remain closed at all times.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles’ honor to Fellowship Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, Missouri, 64850.
