(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Meredith Lynn Wagner, age 19, of Columbus, Kansas passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Meredith was born to Kristin Diane Wagner and Gerald Vernon Wagner on November 7, 2006, in Joplin, Missouri. She grew up in Columbus, and was active in the Columbus School Band, playing the trumpet. Meredith graduated from Columbus High School with the Class of 2025.
Her family recalls that she never knew a stranger, even striking up conversations with strangers in the grocery store as a small child. As she grew, Meredith had a love for animals, particularly her cat, Jewell, and dog, Nova. Hunting and fishing were among her hobbies. Fairly recently, Meredith enjoyed driving to Springfield to go line dancing and loved driving around in her beloved vehicle, "Barb the Blazer."
Preceding her in death are her great grandparents Don and Iola Case, and Stanley and Helen Mock; and her nanny Joanne Jones.

Meredith is survived by her mother Kristin Wagner, and her father Gerald Wagner; maternal grandparents Steven and Connie Mock; step-grandmother Genie Baylor; siblings: Bryer Wagner, Lola Wagner, and Tylan Baylor; uncles: Kyle Mock, Matt Wagner (wife Melissa), Blake Wagner, and Aunt EmmaLeigh Pierson; and a host of other family and friends who loved Meredith very much.
Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, Kansas. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM; after which cremation will follow.
