Evelyn J. Keller Johnson, 79, Joplin, MO, passed away Tuesday morning, July 19, 2016 at NHC Healthcare, Joplin, MO. Evelyn June Spry was born September 23, 1936 in Carthage, MO to the late Charles M. Spry and Juanita B. (Wright) Spry. She attended Carthage Public Schools. She worked as a manager at Nicholson’s Restaurant. Evelyn married Bobby Ray Keller on November 7, 1953 in Carthage; he preceded her in death on November 12, 1989. Evelyn then married Donald D. Johnson on July 1, 1992 in Miami, OK; he preceded her in death on January 9, 2008. She was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church, Joplin, MO. Evelyn will always be remembered for her beautiful voice and guitar and the love she gave for her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Kay White (husband Preston), Joplin, MO, and Sandra Ray Faulk, Joplin, MO; four step children, Patricia Ann Kibbe, Carthage, Gary McNary (wife Maria), Jacksonville, FL, Colby Johnson, Springfield, MO, Monte Johnson, Carl Junction, MO; one sister, Wanda Lawrence, Carthage, MO; one brother, Van Spry, Odon, IN; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two husbands, one daughter, Vicki Diane Leidholt, three sisters, Jan Spry, Phyllis Spry, and Betty Stark, and one brother, Charles Spry.
Visitation will be held 6:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2016 at Dudman Cemetery, Carthage. Minister Chris Sloan will officiate. Interment will follow the service.
