Robert Yerington

Robert O. Yerington, 79, formerly of Neosho, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017. Robert was born January 20, 1938 in Platte City, MO to Lee Dell and Isabel (Wilkins) Yerington. He married Kendra Kaye (Porter) Yerington October 17, 1959 in Anderson, Missouri; she preceded Robert in death on June 23, 2015. He lived most of his life in the Neosho/Joplin area.

Robert served as a pilot in the US Air Force, and served in the Air Force Reserves. He worked for Rocketdyne/Teledyne, retired as purchasing manager for Vickers, and then became a licensed real estate agent. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Joplin Ward. Robert attended Missouri University, enjoyed playing the organ and piano, loved outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing, especially fly fishing. He coached youth sports, including baseball, soccer, and football. He was a former Neosho Youth Football Organization President and also was a former President of the Tri-State Kennel Club.

Surviving family include six children: Kimberly Kaye and Mike Douthitt, Broken Arrow, OK, Jana Janae and Bruce Hawkins, Debra Dawn and Chad Prater, Robert Shaun and Melissa Yerington, all of Joplin, Lee Shannon and Melissa Yerington of Neosho, and Dennis Shane and Tracy Yerington, Joplin; 23 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and brother, Lee Yerington, Kansas City, MO. In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by one sister, Marcia Hatfield.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2107 Indiana Ave., Joplin, MO, with Bishop Russ Kemp officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Hazel Green Cemetery, Boulder City. The family will receive friends 6 - 7pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Clark Funeral Home.
