John Myers

John E. Myers, age 71, of Carterville, MO, passed away on Wednesday January 20, 2021, at Freeman Hospital, due to a short illness.

John was born on October 25, 1949, in Joplin the son of the late Earl Myers, Jr. and Ruby M. (King) Myers. He has been a lifetime area resident. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. 

He married Carol I. Fort on October 18, 1968 in Joplin and they were blessed with two children. He worked as a warehouseman for Fleming Foods and Americold in Carthage, prior to retirement. He was a proud member of the Carthage VFW Post #2590. He enjoyed woodworking, painting and DIY projects. He had a kind nature and was always willing to help friends and family.








John is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Carol Myers, Carterville, MO; one son, Andy Myers and wife Katy, Joplin; one daughter, Aimee McMullen and husband Brian, Highlands Ranch, CO; one brother, Robert Myers and wife Terri, Jasper, GA; one sister, Trudy Daniels and husband Marty, Springdale, AR; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Franklin, Tunus, MO; two grandchildren, Trenton Myers, Webb City, MO, Kaylee Karraker and husband Michael, Lubbock, TX; and many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 at Mt. Hope Cemetery at the Open-Air Chapel. Randy Wilson, Minister will officiate.

The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Watered Gardens in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
