Mike Swearengin

Michael Merl Swearengin, age 64, Carl Junction, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home after a sudden illness.

Mike was born June 26, 1957 in Tacoma, Washington, son of the late Tommy Merl Swearengin and Floretta Mae (Lockhart) Swearengin. 

 He grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and moved to Joplin in 1973 where he graduated from Memorial High School in 1975. He moved back to Wichita and worked for Dillons, then Jackson Foods before going to work for Kellogg’s. He was transferred back to Joplin in 2006 to work for Kellogg as a Territorial Manager.






 

Mike loved being outdoors, whether he was golfing, fishing, or hunting, he enjoyed being with his friends and family. He was an avid fantasy football participant, was a huge Wichita State Shockers fan, and also followed the Oklahoma Sooners. He was currently attending Carl Junction Christian Church.

Survivors include his life partner, Lyn Murdock; brother, Gary Swearengin and wife Janet of Wichita; sister, Sheri Page and husband Stephen of Carl Junction; niece, Rachel Cole and husband James of Wichita; nephew, Ryan Swearengin and wife Kayla of Springfield, Oregon; 6 great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Dogwood Cemetery, Dogwood, Missouri with Pastor Adam Jones officiating. Interment will be at Dogwood Cemetery with Ryan Swearengin, Marc Workman, Andrew Cole, Roger Swearengin, Craig Preston, and Randy Grimes serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Dogwood from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
