Wayne Brust

At his home, Reverend Wayne Brust, age 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021, surrounded by family. He was born January 17, 1928, in Boulder City, Missouri, to the late William and Pearl (Tanner) Brust. 

On August 13, 1945, he married Vivian Charlene Cargile in Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2011. Wayne later married Janie Odessa Cargile (Turner) in Granby.

Wayne was saved in February of 1950 and immediately started preaching in 1951. He pastored or founded churches in the four-state area for 71 years and has been the pastor of Granby Miracle Church for 36 years. Wayne loved the Lord, and it was his passion to share His word with all he met. While serving as a pastor, Wayne also worked at the Pet Milk Corporation for a total of 30 years.

In addition to his love for the Lord, Wayne enjoyed spending time with family, especially the visits from his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Janie Odessa Brust of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, four sons, John Brust and his wife, Jo, of Loma Linda, Missouri, Jack Brust and his wife, Cheryl, of Carthage, Missouri, Jerry Brust and his wife, Kelli, of Joplin, Missouri, and Joel Brust of Granby, Missouri; three stepchildren and their spouses, Doug and Patty Johnston of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Otis and Pat Turner of Raytown, Missouri, and Raydean and Sherry Turner of Independence, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Ann and Les Huddleston of Crane, Missouri and Kay Cargile of Webb City, Missouri.

In addition to his parents and wife, Vivian, his two daughters, Caren and Jana Brust, grandson, Kevin Brust, brother, Doyle Brust, and two sisters, Dorothy Martin and Wynona “Nonie” Lewis preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Clark Funeral Home in Granby, with Reverend Ira Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hazelgreen Cemetery in Boulder City, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in the funeral home.
