(From Ferry Funeral Home) Lois Irene (Curless) Crowe, 95, passed away on March 29, 2025, in Lee’s Summit Missouri.
Lois was born on May 14, 1929, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Frank George “Happy” Curless and Mary Belle (Bloom) Curless. On May 14, 1951, she married Louis Turner Crowe, Jr., in Liberal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2011.
Lois graduated from Liberal High School in 1947. Following graduation from high school, Lois taught school in a rural grade school and began taking summer classes at Pittsburg State Teaching College. Following her marriage to Louis, they moved to Odessa, Missouri where she worked at the Bank of Odessa and assisted her husband in operating The Dixie movie theater. In 1958, they moved to Nevada, Missouri to build and operate the Capri Bowl. Lois returned to college at Pittsburg State, where her son Michael was also working on his degree at the same time, eventually graduating with a degree in social work. For years she devoted her life to working with clients at the Nevada State Hospital, showing them the same loving kindness she offered to everyone she met.
Mom and Dad opened their hearts and welcomed three babies into their family. They gave us their name, their love and literally the world, sacrificing of themselves so we could have a life of which few children dream.
Lois is survived by her son Nick (Katie) Crowe; daughter, Michelle (Richard) Reiling; and son, Michael (Mary Ann) Crowe, Sr.; seven grandchildren, Mary (John) Nestojko, Sara (Jeff) Hendersen, Melissa Crean, Madison (Stephen) Mey, Reece Reiling, Mackenzie Reiling, Patrick (fiancé Molly Brenner) Crowe and Michael Crowe Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Emmett “Bub” Curless.
