Evelyn Gifford

Evelyn J. Gifford, of Pierce City, passed away on Saturday evening, January 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 15, 1944, in Washburn, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Grover Pendergraft and Sylvia Vesta (Beaver) Pendergraft.

Evelyn received her education in Washburn and went on to work as a Seamstress for many years. She was a woman of faith, and known for her talent in sewing and quilting. She lovingly created beautiful pieces through her business, Grandma’s Quilting. Evelyn had a passion for gardening and canning, demonstrating her green thumb and dedication to providing for her loved ones.

On September 5, 1961, Evelyn married Charles L. Gifford, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles L. Gifford, two sons, Eddie Gifford and wife Donna of Nixa, MO, and Jimmie Gifford of Pierce City, and daughter Terrie Asbill of Neosho, MO. Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her nine grandchildren, Megan, Jeremy, Tasha, Isaiah, Marissa, Shelby, Brandi, Zach, and Amie, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Kramm and husband Raymond of Topeka, KS, and a host of extended family and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Grover, Merle, and Dale Pendergraft, Edith Willoughby, and Etta Cunningham. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.

May Evelyn rest in eternal peace, her memory cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Buchanan Funeral Home with Robert Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Pierce City Cemetery. The family invites friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
