Phillip Poulson

Phillip Wayne Poulson, 86, of Freeport, TX passed away November 26, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 22, 1939, to Melvin and Georgia Poulson, in Carthage, MO where he was also raised.

Phillip moved to Baytown, TX., in 1965, along with his best friend, Bob Coen, to work in construction. Later, he became a welder, working for many years in the plants in Southern Texas.

He enjoyed coming to Missouri to visit with family and friends. And would drive by himself until he was 81 years old and couldn’t make the drive anymore.








Phillip was a kind and gentle spirit; everyone he knew loved and respected him. He was a hard worker, and his co-workers would say he could even out work the young guys. If you were in a bind, he would always help you out. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, gun collecting, coin collecting, Astros baseball, and Texans football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janie Poulson, daughter Laura Poulson, grandson Fredick Martinez, great grandson Conner Simon, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Left to cherish Phillip’s memory are his children; Phillip Poulson, Jr., Lisa Haggard, Anita Poulson, Carmen Velez & husband Steve, Georgia Taylor & husband Bradley, Tracy Poulson & wife Diana, Lance Poulson, Shannon Poulson, grandchildren; Kevin Poulson, Sr., Amanda Mata, Forrest Keene, Laura Martinez, Julie Martinez, Zachary Taylor, Priscilla Simon, Valerie Keyser, Sam Ortiz, and Marian Ortiz, 29 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.








Serving as pallbearers; Zachary Taylor, Bradley Taylor, Forrest Keene, Steve Velez, Phillip W. Poulson, Jr., Kevin Poulson, Sr., Kevin Poulson, Jr., and Sam Ortiz.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jalen Ferguson, Shannon Poulson, and Lance Poulson.

Family will receive friends 10:00am Friday, December 5, 2025, at Mason Woodard Funeral Home, 3701 East 7th St., Joplin, MO 64801.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00am Friday, December 5, 2025, at Mason Woodard Funeral Home with Brad Wieneke officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Carthage, MO.
