Janet Marie Ducommun, age 67 of Neosho, Missouri left this earthly body on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in Joplin, Missouri.
Janet was born April 26, 1950 in Cherokee, Iowa, daughter of the late Robert Florine and Frances Powell Florine of Southerland, Iowa. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1968, and then attended Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. On August 1, 1969 she married Forest E. Ducommun in Sutherland, Iowa and continued taking classes at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa to pursue a degree in education. From 1974 to 1984, Janet and Forest lived and farmed in Knob Noster, Missouri before moving to Neosho, Missouri in 1984. In addition to raising her family, Janet worked as a substitute teacher with the Neosho School District for over 20 years, often in special education. She was a member of the St. Canera’s Catholic Church.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and brother, Jim Florine and joined in death by her daughter Ronni on July 4, 2017.
Survivors include her husband, Forest E. Ducommun, her children: Shane Ducommun and wife Shin Kim of Frisco, Texas, Lisa McGrath and husband Jim of O'Fallon, Missouri, Angela Ducommun of Joplin, Missouri, Travis Ducommun and wife Stacia Alvarez of St. Charles, Missouri, Boone Ducommun of Joplin, Missouri, Marjory Ducommun of Wentzville, Missouri, and Bobby Ducommun and wife Alyssa of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren: Caelan and Ella Ducommun, Addison, Cole, Katie, and Adam McGrath, and Bailey Ducommun; mother, Frances Florine of Sutherland, Iowa; brother, Ed Florine of Cherokee, Iowa; sisters: Mary Jo Brennan and husband Jim of Jackson, Minnesota, Nancy Richards and husband Tom of Nevada, Iowa, and Julia Florine of Sutherland, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at St. Canera’s Catholic Church on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Canera’s Catholic Church in Neosho, Missouri with Rev. Derek Swanson C.M. officiating. Interment will follow in Gibson Cemetery, Neosho, Missouri.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the PKD Foundation.
