Margaret Ione Pierson, age 88, of Carlsbad, CA, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, following an illness.
Margaret was born on May 28, 1929, in Duenweg, MO, the daughter of James W. and Grace Irene (Browning) Pendleton. A longtime resident of Carlsbad, Margaret worked as a secretary there at Magnolia Elementary School while also raising her two children. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Duenweg where she and her husband were married.
She married John Douglas Pierson on March 29, 1953, who preceded her in death on August 7, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Grace Armstrong; her brother, Jimmy Pendleton; and her sister, June Pendleton. Survivors include her son, John M. Pierson, his wife Joan, of Carlsbad, and her grandson, John D. H. Pierson; and her sister, Lois Barham and her husband, Jack, of Springfield, MO, along with her nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Greg Gooch will officiate. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the service at the Chapel.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory of Joplin, MO.
