Nancy Whitten

Nancy L. Whitten, age 72, passed away at 12:58 pm, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at her home following an illness.

Nancy was born February 11, 1949 in Joplin, MO. Her parents were Earl and Pearl (Dean) Soper. She had lived in Carl Junction since 2007 after living most of her life in Columbus, KS.

She graduated from Columbus High School. She retired from Eagle Picher, Joplin, MO after working there several years as a machine operator.








Nancy enjoyed crafts. She worked with ceramics, crocheting and sewing. She was known for cake decorating. In fact, she won 1st prize at the county fair. Her greatest companion was her fur baby; a Boston Terrier named Pickles.

Nancy was married to Doug Whitten in 1981 at Miami, OK. He passed away Oct 28, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Whitten, her parents, two brothers, Earl Dean Soper and Carroll Wayne Soper, a Sister-In-Law, Lula Soper and a Brother-In-Law, John Moyer

Surviving is her sister, Shirley Moyer, Columbus; her sister-in-law, Johnny Soper, Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at the Park Cemetery Pavilion, Columbus, KS Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Audie Tash will officiate.

Nephews serving as pallbearers: Gary Moyer, Mike Moyer, Mark Moyer, Carroll Wayne Soper Jr., Chris Soper, Don Fulk, Alan Casey, Mark Robertson, and Doug Buckmaster.

Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS.
