Jimmie Fortner

Jimmie T. Fortner, prominent area businessman, age 91, passed away on January 31, 2022 at St. Luke’s Nursing Care Facility in Carthage, Missouri. Jimmie was born August 5, 1930, in Ash Grove, Missouri, to Homer and Ruth Fortner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Sue; and his wife, Yvonne “Goodman” Fortner.











Jimmie graduated from Ash Grove High School in 1949 and served his country as a United States Marine 1951-52. He then joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Jimmie was united in marriage to Yvonne Goodman on July 12, 1953, in their pastor’s home in Ash Grove, Missouri. They were members of the First Christian Church in Carthage, Missouri.

Jimmie was a cattle rancher and landowner near the Jasper, Missouri area before retirement. He was the President and CEO of Jimmie Fortner Oil Company and he and his wife worked side-by-side in their various business locations. Jimmie was also President of the Missouri Oil Jobbers Association for several years.

He is survived by two sisters, Helen Grant and Shirley Daniel of Ash Grove, Missouri; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Douglas and Jane Goodman of Aurora, Missouri, and Ecuador; and various nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery in Jasper, Missouri.
