(From Parker Mortuary)Mary Nova Dye Hopkins, Carthage, passed into eternal rest on May 12, 2022 at the age of 98 years and 11 months.
Mary was born June 6, 1923 in Howell County, near South Fork, Missouri daughter of the late Daniel Dewy Dye and Bessie Cherry Dye, being the oldest of her siblings.
Ms. Hopkins was married on July 11, 1942 to Warren J. Hopkins, who preceded her in death in 1999.
Ms. Hopkins spent many years as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. At the age of 70 she earned her cdl drivers license and worked along side her husband delivering Coach busses to all areas of the country for Diamond Coach Company, Oswego, Kansas, retiring in 1998. She was baptized as a child in South Fork, Missouri and later re-baptized at Southside Community Church of God in Joplin.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Hopkins was preceded in death by six brothers, Oscar, Dewey Jr., Robert Lyle, James, Joe, and Elmer Dye; two sisters, Marie Comer and a stillborn sister; four sisters-in-laws: Naomi Dye, Juanita Mahan, Loretta Ball, Rae Nofziger, one brother-in-law: Jerry Briscoe; a granddaughter, and two daughters-in-law, and 12 other in-laws.
Survivors include her five children: Kenneth W. Hopkins and wife Terry of Granby, Missouri, Neal J. Hopkins and wife Judi of Joplin, Missouri, Norman Leroy Hopkins and wife T.J. of Granby, Missouri, the twins Jerry Dee Hopkins of Licking, Missouri and Terrie Ann Hopkins-Burton of Duenweg, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Isaac Lee Dye, David Dye and wife Sarah all of West Plains, Missouri; sister-in-law: Ruth Bennett also of West Plains; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 11:00 a.m. at New Liberty Church Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri.
