Norma Mitchell

Norma Faye Mitchell, age 73, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 31st, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Norma was born October 1st, 1949 in Shamrock, Texas to the late Norman and Faye (Harris) Washburn. She grew up in the Bentonville / Bella Vista area and attended Bentonville High School where she graduated in 1967.






 

Shortly after high school she met the love of her life, Clair Mitchell. On May 18th, 1968, she married Clair in Joplin, Missouri. Together they were blessed with 54 years before her passing. She worked as a department manager at Walmart, deputy clerk for the jasper county circuit clerk's office for 18 years, title clerk for Ray Hawkins Title Company for 5-6 years, and a clerk for the probation and parole for 4 years. 

She enjoyed knitting, reading, and watching her grandbabies play sports. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball as well as, being a score keeper for the dirt track races and road races in Oklahoma. She loved taking care of the children in the nursey at Carterville Christian Church.






 

Norma is survived by her husband, Clair; three sons, Mike Mitchell and wife, Michele, Tim Mitchell and wife, Kathy, and Josh Mitchell and wife, Christi; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial service will be held Friday, January 6th, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with pastor Robin Sigars officiating. There will be a time of visitation held from 4:00 p.m. until service time.

Funeral arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
