(From Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home)Addie Virginia Thompson, 91, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023. She was born in Bois D’Arc, MO on March 22, 1931, to Lester and Loren (Jones) Bolin. On April 25, 1958 Virginia and Lloyd Thompson were united in marriage and shared over 47 years together before Lloyd’s passing in 2005.
Virginia enjoyed quilting, gardening and she adored her family. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Virginia is survived by her brother, Leon and his wife Shirley Bolin of Clever, Missouri; sons, Dr. Steven and Phyllis Cotter of Chesapeake, Virginia, Gregory and Cathy Cook Springfield, MO; six grandchildren, Crystal and her husband Andy Rhodes of Neosho, Missouri, Steve and his wife Amanda Cotter of Lexington, South Carolina, Michael and his wife Shelby Cotter of Springfield, Missouri, Timothy Cotter of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Everett and his wife Carrie Clarkson of Chesapeake, Virginia, Stacey and her husband Sam James of West Union, Ohio; eighteen great-grandchildren: Justin, Ashton, Kaitlyn, Bryson, David, Ariel, Harlie, Anderson, Emmalynn, Britni, Brandi, Nick, Harper, Ethan, Aidan, Josephine, Henry and Ezra; six great-great-grandchildren, special friend, Marilyn Sappington; other family and many friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Loren Bolin; husband, Lloyd Thompson; sister, Dorothy and husband Ward Williams.
Visitation will be from 11:00AM until service time, Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Wilson-Griffin funeral home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Clear Creek Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and can be left at the funeral home.
