(From Parker Mortuary)Carolyn Janiece Cupp, age 58, Sarcoxie, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born May 22, 1964 in Joplin, daughter of the late Virgel Orin Bird, Sr. and LeEtta Janice (Hall) Bird. She grew up in the Joplin area and attended Joplin area schools.
She worked for years with different companies but was mostly a nurse’s aide helping at local nursing homes and with home health care.
She was an excellent cook, and loved crafts, quilting, and canning, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Cornerstone Revival Church of Carterville.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey S. Cupp, Jr., a sister, Robin McLean; and two brothers, Virgel O. Bird, Jr. and Christopher Bird.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Jeff Cupp; daughters, Melissa Cupp of Sarcoxie, and Treada Smidt of Asbury, MO, brothers, Justin Bird and Marty Bird both of Joplin; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Morris Cleveland officiating, and Scottie Callis, Daniel Callis, Skylar Callis, Aaron Callis, Chase Callis, and Colton Balestrin serving as pallbearers.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
