Josephine Morley, age 79 of Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. She was born May 8, 1944 in Schweinfurt, Germany to the late Anton Backmund and Margaret Hagenbucher Backmund.
Before moving to Missouri where she lived for most of her life, she lived in Canada and Indiana. Even though Josephine honored her German heritage, she was proud to become a U.S. Citizen in 1976.
Helping others came naturally to Josephine and she used those gifts while working in the hospitality industry throughout many years of her life. Josephine was always full of life and laughter and anyone who knew her, loved her.
Josephine is survived by her daughters, Lisa Clark and husband, Todd of Waldorf, Maryland, Nicole Taber and husband, Randy of Carl Junction; daughter-in-law, Felicia Morley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Whitney Brumbaugh, Tyler Morley, Connor Morley, Keaton Taber, Arianna Clark and Christopher Clark; sisters, Elsa Krapp of Stratford, Ontario, Irmgard Ludwig of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Erna Renger of Carl Junction.
Other than her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her son, William ‘Bill’ Morley; brothers, Artur and Michael Backmund.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri. A Committal of Ashes will take place at a later date at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
