(From Parker Mortuary)Glenda May Pugh, age 76 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation. Glenda was born December 26, 1946 in Holton, Kansas to the late Ralph and Iva Lytle Johnston.
The family moved a short time later to the Lamar area where she graduated from Lamar High School with the class of 1964. It was that she met and married her high-school sweetheart, Fred Pugh in 1966 just before Fred went off to serve his country.
After Fred’s service was completed, they moved to Joplin where they have resided for over the last 50 years. Glenda worked at LaBarge Manufacturing prior to having kids. While raising their two children, Glenda stayed home and became a homemaker and then eventually retired from J.C. Penny in Joplin. Before her health begin to decline, you could find Glenda outside enjoying gardening, planting flowers and taking her daily walks.
Glenda is survived by her husband, Fred of the home; son, David Pugh of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Vicki Pugh of Neosho; a close nephew, Brent Beard of Webb City and many friends they have come to know throughout the years.
Other than her parents, Glenda is preceded in death by her siblings, Ralphie, Robert, John and Betty.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, June 16th between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
