Bud Richmond

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Oscar Delbert Richmond, affectionately known as Bud to his friends and family, 82, a longtime resident of Goodman, Missouri, passed away on Friday afternoon, January 5, 2024, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, following a recent decline in health.

Born on June 8, 1941, in Stella, Missouri, Bud was a man whose life was marked by service, dedication and a creative spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Raised in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, Bud was a graduate of Rocky Comfort High School, class of 1959. His early career took him to Kansas City, where he honed his skills in construction. In 1975, he returned to McDonald County, where he worked at La-Z-Boy for a few years in Neosho before embarking on a fulfilling twenty-four-year career with Ozark Wood Products, from which he retired in 2004.

Bud's commitment to his community was unwavering. For over 46 years, he served as a Volunteer Fireman and First Responder in Goodman, Missouri, where his selfless service and kind-hearted nature made him an asset to the community. His dedication to helping others in times of need was a testament to his character.

He married the love of his life, Dianna Gail Hagan, on July 6, 1963. Together, they built a family and a legacy of love that continues to flourish. Bud is survived by his wife, Dianna; two sons, Todd Richmond and his wife, Shery, of Neosho, Missouri, and Cliff Richmond and his wife, Karmen, of Diamond, Missouri; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Broadhurst and her husband, Billy, of Independence, Missouri, Maxine Bates and her husband, Gary, of Wheaton, Missouri, and Kay McNeill and her husband, Earl, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; and a brother, Jerry Richmond and his wife, Marla, of Goodman, Missouri. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Otis and Bessie Violet (Niskern) Richmond, and two sisters, Halla Hilbert and Delores Giles.

A man of many interests, Bud enjoyed woodworking, a hobby through which he expressed his creativity and meticulous craftsmanship. His hands were rarely still, as he was always involved in a project or lending his skills to help someone in need. Bud was a devout Methodist throughout his life and he and Dianna attended Wanda United Methodist Church.

As we bid a Last Call to Oscar Delbert "Bud" Richmond, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he has left behind. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his example of kindness and selflessness will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. Bud's journey on earth may have concluded, but the love he shared and the lives he touched will endure forever.
