Chuck Konkol

Charles Benedict Konkol Sr., known to many as “Charlie” or “Chuck” was born in Newburgh, New York on July 21, 1943 to the late Charles Vincent Konkol and Wilma DeLong Morris. He was called home to live eternally with Jesus on Tuesday, January 16th at 2:40 a.m. He donated his body to help advance medical science through Medcure. He was 80 years young.

Chuck was a faithful servant of Jesus, a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, mentor and friend. He wanted everyone he knew and met to have a personal relationship with Jesus. He co-led praise and worship during church services for many years at Bethel Assembly of God, Oak Grove Baptist Church and most recently at Westgate Nursing Home; all in Joplin, MO.

He was gifted musically and blessed all those who were fortunate to hear him. He used his musical gift his entire life by singing, playing the piano, organ, bass guitar and even the drums. He was self-taught and could listen and replay just about anything; having a perfect pitch along with his own creative melody being added and smoothly transitioned with ease.

Chuck also loved to tell so many of his life stories and share God's word through his “mini-sermons” with his friends and family. He spoke life into many through his wisdom and encouraging words.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father Danny Morris and brothers Vincent, Glenn and Sam Konkol.

Those left to cherish his life and continue sharing God’s word and love are his wife of 40 years, Janet Konkol; daughter, Bernadette Konkol-Plantemoli with husband Joe of New Jersey; son, Charles Konkol Jr. with wife Lori of Kimberling City, MO; daughter, Krissy Konkol of Helena, AL; daughter, Kelly Flick with husband Erik of Hoover, AL; son, Samuel Konkol of Joplin, MO; daughter, Jennifer Moore with husband Shaun of Granby, MO; son, Dan Konkol of Joplin, MO; 10 grandchildren; Teddy, Mark, Brittany, Natasha, Shelby, Katrina, Kolton, Sophia, Kairo and Noah; 10 great-children; Quinton, Mackenzie, Beckett, Jaeden, Lucy, Shun, Amaya, Adalyn, Aubrey and Alana; brother, Douglas Konkol; sister, Wanda Grinder; both of New York; loving fur babies; Sadie, Sassy, Goldie and Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions in Chuck’s memory be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 6421 Spurgeon Rd., Joplin ,MO.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2 pm. There will be another one held at Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Spring for friends and family; allowing time for travel arrangements to be made.
