Alice “Virginia” passed away March 9, 2024, at the age of 95 surrounded by her loved ones who will continue to honor her by living and enjoying life as she taught and led by example.

Virginia, as she was called by her parents, Joseph A. Dearman, and Alta J. (Ferrell) Dearman, was born in Welling, OK, Cherokee County, on August 5th, 1928. She lived a full life on her parents' farm in Oklahoma until her parents moved to California when she was a young preteen. Her parents moved back to Oklahoma around Okema where she went to high school. She helped her parents work on the farm, drove a tractor to church, and helped with all chores of farm life.

These early years of farm life, Christian faith, family, and community, all contributed to the person she was. Hard working, generous, accepting, and forever loving would describe her best.

Virginia raised her children and then went back to school and completed her business degree in her early fifties. She was a member of Central Christian Center, Joplin, MO. She was an avid gardener, quilter, and all-around creator. She loved to travel.

Virginia met her first husband, Loyal Curl, in California at the age of 14. They kept in contact and were married in 1946 after Loyal returned from World War II. From this marriage she had nine children: five boys and four girls. During her second phase of life, she decided to be called by her first name, Alice, which many know her by. She remarried at the age of 71 to Paul Viney and gained two bonus daughters. From these 11 children she had many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. She and Paul took many trips and cruises.

Alice Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alta, husband Paul Viney; sister Vera Mae Dearman; brother Jerl Dearman; sister Joy Dean Dearman; daughter Janice Simpson; son Gary Curl; son Ivan Curl; stepdaughter Pauline Quattlebaum; grandson Wiliam Simpson; and grandson Tyler Land.
