Curtis Atteberry

(From Parker Mortuary)

Curtis Leon Atteberry, a lifelong resident of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on December 13, 1947.

Curtis was a graduate of Joplin High School. He dedicated 40 years to magazine route sales, where his reliability and personable nature made him a favorite among clients and colleagues alike prior to his retirement.

An avid sports fan, Curtis was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Missouri Tigers. His love of sports extended to the joy he found in watching his kids and grandkids participate in their sports and activities. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of yard work and piddling around the house.

Above all, Curtis's love for his family was the most important thing to him. He married the love of his life, Cindy (Parrish) Atteberry on December 30, 1982. He was immensely proud of the life he and Cindy built together, celebrating their long and happy marriage with joy and gratitude. He cherished the accomplishments of his children and granddaughters.

Curtis's sense of humor was one of his most defining characteristics. His dry wit could always be counted on to bring a smile to anyone's face. He had a knack for finding humor in everyday situations; his funny anecdotes and clever observations will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Curtis is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Atteberry; children, Michael Burke (Vickie) of Carl Junction, MO, and Marissa Atteberry of Joplin, MO; grandchildren, Ashley and Emily Burke; and sisters, Donna Buffalo and Beth Reineke and several nieces and nephews.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Don and Betty Atteberry and three cherished nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.

Family and friends are invited for a celebration of life following the services at Michael and Vickie’s house at 718 Briarbrook Dr. Carl Junction, MO.
