(From Lawson's Funeral Home)Dale Lee Barnett, 87, of Grove, OK went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at his residence. He was born on January 08, 1937 in Maysville, AR to his parents, Vernie Ray Barnett and Katherine Irene Ford.
Dale was raised around Maysville and Gravette, AR, then later in life he moved to Grove, OK. Throughout Dale’s life he always had a passion for horses and ranch life, and worked on ranches when he was 15 in Colorado and Montana. He loved the cowboy life.
When he was 17 he joined the United States Airforce, and was stationed at Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio, and did a tour in Korea. After his service he went into trucking. He was a truck driver most of his life and worked at Hudson Foods and Retired from Simmons Foods at age 70. One of his biggest accomplishments was going to school to make guitars. His younger years he rode broncs and bulls and would tell his daughters he wasn’t scared of anything!
Dale was married to Eleanor Smith and 2 daughters born to this union, Sherrie and Teresa. On December 31, 1977, Dale married Corrine Puryear and raised 4 more children, Fred, Sheri, Marvin and Leonard. Dale was always a good provider for his family. He loved his large family a lot! Our dad and friend will be dearly missed by his children, family and friends.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Vernie and Katherine; his siblings, John Barnett, Bob Barnett, Juanita Eaton, and Linda Johnson, his stepson, Fred Puryear.
He is survived by his wife, Corrine Barnett of Grove, OK, his children, Sherrie Sims of Rogers, AR and Teresa Bennett and husband Jim of Noel, MO, Step Daughter, Sheri Gann and husband Marty of Little Kansas, OK, Step Son, Marvin Puryear of Miami, OK and Leonard Puryear of Vale, NC, grandchildren, Douglas (Dusty) and wife Chelsie DeMerritt of Bella Vista, AR, Tyler DeMerritt and wife Jessica of Pierceson, FL, Miriah Wells and husband Jake of Rogers, AR and James Bennett of Bella Vista, AR; his great-grandchildren, Jazmine Wells, Jaden Wells, Rhyla, Della and Ellie DeMerritt and Daxton DeMerritt; Bonus great-grandchildren, Landon and Lucy Looney; 7 step grandchildren, 17 step great-grandchildren; his siblings, Pat King of Neosho, MO and Donna Davidson of Goodman, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews that meant the world to him, along with cousins, extended family and friends.

Dale’s Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 10:00am, March 2, 2024 at Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346 with Pastor Bob Easter officiating. Followed by his funeral procession to Duffield Cemetery, Jay, OK.
Dale’s burial will be at Duffield, Cemetery, Jay, OK with the United States Air Force Military Honors.
