Joyce Elaine Myers, a beacon of faith and love in her community, passed away on May 12, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born on March 22, 1953, in Joplin, Missouri to the late Dan and Vetras (Stone) Shields. Joyce's life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to service and her deep-rooted love for her family and God.

She was a devoted wife to her husband, John Myers, with whom she shared a beautiful partnership in both life and ministry. They formed an unbreakable team, united in their mission to spread love and hope. Together, they raised two loving children, Jerome Myers (Mary) and Amy Patrick (Josh), both of Joplin, who carry on her legacy of kindness and generosity.

Her life was further enriched by her adoring grandchildren, Clayton Patrick (Alexah), Wyatt Patrick (CiCi), Isla Patrick, Adrienne Myers, and Logan Myers. Joyce's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Harper and Cort Patrick, and the anticipation of the newest addition to the family due in November. She was a sister to Bobby Shields (Joyce) of Cushing, OK, and Wally Shields (Debbie) of Webb City, MO.

For nearly 40 years, Joyce pastored alongside her husband, John, at Joplin Full Gospel Church. Her ministry extended beyond the church walls, as she devoted her time to the Jasper County Jail ministry, teaching Sunday school, and supporting recovery homes. Joyce's passion for helping others was evident in her volunteer work at Life Choices, where she offered counsel and comfort to those in need. Her dedication to service continued as she worked in the kitchen at Joplin Schools.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Myers, and sister, Betty Chandler.
