Jim Brown

Donald James “Jim” Brown, 92, Nevada, MO passed away on Tuesday, July 06, 2021 at his home in Nevada following an illness of several months. Jim was born October 1, 1928 in Wichita, KS to Raymond A. and Dora Bell (Rackley) Brown.

He was united in marriage to Beth Woodruff on August 24, 1946 in Ft. Scott, KS and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2017.

Jim was raised in Vernon County. He worked for the railroad for a number of years, and later worked for Joseph Pohl Construction for over 25 years until his retirement. 








Jim was member of the Heritage Baptist Church. His passion in life was leading people to Jesus and serving the Lord the best way he could.

Survivors include one son, Don Brown, Jr., Nevada; one daughter, Betty Thorpe (Charles), Nevada; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, and Joan Engle, Liberal, MO; one brother, Frank Schooley, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Beth, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Chrales Brown; and two sisters, Patricia Perriman, and Mary Dagley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Jeff Adams and Pastor Jeff Swart officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to Heritage Baptist Church in Nevada c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
