Anna Laurie Dyer passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at her home in Carthage, Mo. She was 56.
Laurie was born May 31, 1957, in Hunt, Texas, to Donald Larston McKinney, Sr. and Rosemarie (Heckert) McKinney.
Laurie grew up with her close family and friends in Carthage, Mo., graduating from Carthage High School in 1975 before marrying Howard Reed Dyer in 1980 and moving to Lansing, Kan., shortly after. She was a “self-taught” expert in electronics, working for a number of years at General Instruments in North Kansas City, Mo., and, after returning to Carthage in 1997, Cardinal Scale in Webb City, Mo. She got her start in the electronics field at Norman Labs in Norman, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald, mother, Rosemarie, uncle, Henry Heckert, and younger brothers, Donnie and David McKinney.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Cody Dyer, nephews, Michael and Greg McKinney, niece, Haley McKinney, former husband, Howard Reed Dyer, dear friend, William Duncan and many close friends who, in most cases, she had known since childhood.
A visitation is scheduled from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, Mo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Edith Mayes
Edith Mae Lundien Mayes, age 94, passed away on Monday, December 30th, 2013 in Webb City.
Edith was a lifelong resident to the area where she attended the Oronogo Methodist Church. She graduated from Carl Junction High School at the age of 16, and went on to serve as the first homecoming queen for Joplin Junior College ( now MSSU. ) After she completed her schooling, Edith made her life as a homemaker. She was loved and adored by all of her family, and her legacy of compassion and kindness will live on in each of us.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Max Mayes ; her parents Fred and Versie Lundien; and five siblings, Norma Bryan, Lanora St. John, Mary Kaiser, Fred Lundien, and Frank Lundien .
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Lassiter; a brother, Robert Lundien; 3 granddaughters: Pam Spiva, Kim McAllister, and Traci Kessler, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Lett, Matthew Bickett, Michael Bickett, Alex Bickett, Gavin McAllister, and Ryan Claborn. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to the Carl Junction Scholarship Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Doris Louise Smith, 91, Neosho, passed away December 28, 2013 at the Medicalodge in Neosho, MO. Doris was born December 14, 1922 in Corsicana, Texas; she is the daughter of Frank Carrothers, Sr. and Martha Ellen (Bailey). She was a homemaker.

Ralph Wofford
Ralph D. Wofford, age 88, of Carl Junction went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 24, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri to Frank M. Wofford and Minerva Forgey Wofford. Ralph was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church. He began his employment with Empire District Electric Company on August 9, 1948 as a Lineman Fourth Class in Springfield and ended his 39 year career with them on January 22, 1987 as a Supervisor of Relay Construction and Maintenance. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Electrician.
During his tour of duty, he served in the South Pacific and participated in invasions of the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, Palau, Okinawa and the Philippines. Following his discharge in 1946 Ralph worked as a Lineman Crew Sub-Foreman for Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
He married Dolores Davies on January 10, 1948 in Oakland, California and she survives at the home. Ralph is also survived by his children, Ralph Thomas and wife Lauren, Janet Austin and husband Kenny, Tim Wofford and wife Myra, JoAnne Peternell and husband Dennis; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Frank, Harold, and Harry Wofford.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction with Reverend Joe Morris officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Carl Junction Cemetery.

Evelyn was born March 23, 1927 in Dalhart, TX, the daughter of Elwood and Hazel (Mayhugh)Bevans. She had worked at Waterloo Industries in Sedalia, MO, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 4142. She enjoyed dancing, bingo and spending week-ends at the lake.
Evelyn is survived by five daughters and two sons, Debra Testerman, Lana and Bill Bush, Gale Testerman, Elaine Harper, Loreen and Mike Long, Bruce Testerman and George Flint; Seventeen grandchildren; Twenty four great grandchildren; Nine great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Bevans, Woody Bevans and Terry Bevans and a sister, Gloria Eshleman. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Elwayne Testerman on May 6, 2002; a son, Dennis Livingston; a sister, Phyllis Bevans and her parents.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Clark Chapel of Memories, 312 S. Wood, Neosho. Chapel service will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, at Clark Chapel of Memories.

Lucille was born in Kansas City, Missouri to John Miller and Catherine “Hagemann” Miller. Lucille was a Carthage resident for the past 25 years moving here from Wichita, Kansas. Lucille was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Lucille was united in marriage to Clifford Meirowsky in 1941 in Olpe, Kansas he preceded her in death in 1984. Lucille is survived by two daughters Louann Meirowsky and Jean Meirowsky both of Carthage, and one son Bernard Meirowsky of Carthage. Two brothers Frank Miller of Joplin and Joe Miller of Monett. Lucille is preceded in death by her husband and seven sisters.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday December 30, 2013 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday December 29, 2013 with Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and visitation to follow held at Ulmer Funeral Home.

Virginia Kittredge, 95, Neosho, died December 24, 2013 at Medicalodge in Neosho, following a lengthy illness.
Virginia was born December 24, 1918 at Russellville, AR, the daughter of James and Lucille Winderoth. Her father died when she was a small child and subsequently, her mother married Joseph W. Gause, who adopted Virginia. The family lived in Russellville and Muskogee, OK during Virginia’s early years, but most of her youth was spent in Little Rock, AR, which she considered her hometown.
After graduating from Little Rock High School, she attended Florida’s Stetson University for one year and then transferred to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she completed her degree, majoring in journalism. During WW II, she joined the American Red Cross. In 1946, she was sent to Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver and following a transfer to Italy in 1947, she was staff assistant at Red Cross Clubs in Venice, Tarcento and Leghorn. Returning to the United States, she w as Field Director at the Winter VA Hospital, Topeka, KS; then at the O’Reilly VA Hospital, Springfield, MO and finally at the VA Hospital in Muskogee, OK.
Commendations by Red Cross supervisors included, ‘maintains a consistently friendly and cheerful attitude…willing to take on additional responsibilities…professional in her approach…excellent sense of humor…conscientious, dependable, resourceful..outgoing personality and excellent sense of humor.” Her Neosho friends are fully aware of her sense of humor and sharp wit.
During the Korean War, she was Recreation Director at the 8041st Station Hospital in Sasebo, Japan. After returning to the United States, she married Theodore (Ted) Kittredge on July 14, 1951. After their marriage, Virginia continued to work with local Red Cross Chapters, both in volunteer and professional capacities. During Ted’s 1951-53 period of Army service at Camp Crowder, the couple lived in Neosho and Virginia was Society Editor of the Neosho Daily News, owned by Howard Bush. After several years in Colorado and Arkansas, Virginia and Ted retired to Neosho in 1985. Virginia was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church and a member of Chapter JO, P.E.O. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, J. W. Gause, Jr. She is survived by three cousins, Joan Anderson, Springfield, MO; Jeanne Green, Franklinton, LA and Alfred P. White, Jr., Pine Bluff, AR.
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Madge Hodson
Madge Louis Reynolds Hodson, age 87, of Butler, Missouri went home to the Lord early Christmas morning.
Born a triplet December 17, 1926 in Pitcher, Oklahoma she is survived by on triplet sister Nadene McCool, Springfield, Missouri, a son, Ken Hodson and his wife Cindy, grandson, Kenny Hodson, Jr. and his wife Sarah, great grandson Konnor and grandson Jon Hodson, great granddaughter, Harley all of Raytown as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Preceding her in death were her husband Reverend Othal Hodson and daughter Debra Louise, her mother Zetta Craig, father Gene Reynolds, sisters, Helen Gilbert, Mildred Morgan, Aldene Manes and brother Roy Reynolds.
Madge spent 44 years as a pastor’s wife and worked in many church organizations with many wonderful people at New Providence Baptist Church, First Baptist of Butler, Strasburg Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Waynesville and Round Prairie Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was always part of the choir. She was a wonderful cook and had the distinction of having an all-spare game in bowling. She worked outside the home with Empire Electric in Webb City, Liberty Water Company and Waynesville Funeral Home and as a church secretary. She was a very sweet, loving lady that was loved by all. She will be missed by all of us.
A visitation will be held on Monday December 30, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in Butler, Missouri at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery.

Robert Warren Jr.
Robert Duane Warren, Jr. age 40 of Joplin, passed away at his home at 8:40 a.m. on December 25, 2013 after a sudden illness.
Born September 20, 1973 in Farmington, MO, he had recently returned to the Joplin area. He was studying to become an electrician in the construction industry.
Survivors include his mother, Jennean Hollaway Warren of Joplin; a brother, Jeff Warren and wife Christy of Joplin; two sisters, Michelle Evans and husband Chris of Joplin, Erin Warren of Joplin; five nieces and nephews, Samantha and Brandon Warren, Lexi, Bailee and Gabe Evans; paternal grandmother, Nicie Warren of Joplin several aunts, uncles and cousins
His father, Robert D. Warren, Sr. preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Larry Six officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Ruby Brockman
Ruby Lee Henson Brockman 86, Neosho, MO died December 24, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Ruby was born September 24, 1927 in Pineville, MO to Francis Norton Henson and Myrtle Carter Henson. Ruby came to Neosho in 1958 from Tulsa, OK. She worked in production for McDonald Douglas. She was the secretary to the superintendent of McDonald County School District. She worked in customer service at Sears, Montgomery Ward and New Mac Electric. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church. She was a member of the Republican Committee for many years. She loved to garden. Ruby and John Brockman were married on Jan 5, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death of June 16, 2002.
She is survived by two sons: Greg and Teresa Brockman, Joplin, MO and Kendall & Diana Brockman, Neosho, MO. Two daughters: Rebecca and Steve Cantrell, Carl Junction Missouri and Melinda Heater, Rogers Arkansas. Four Brothers:
Martin & Barbara Henson, Tulsa, OK; Clayton and Juanita Henson, Las Vegas, NV Troy and Zelda Henson, Pineville, MO and Glen and Sundy Henson, Neosho, MO. Two sisters: Shirley and Fred Boatright, Neosho, MO and Carol and Bob Corcoran, Anderson, MO. One Sister-In-Law, Gloria Bradley, Versailles, KY.
Ruby was also survived by six grandchildren: Haley Goostree, Thomas Cantrell, Taylor Cantrell, Amanda Brockman, Basil Brockman and Carter Brockman. One great grandchild. Joicelyn Cantrell.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two sisters: Doris Stephens and Fern Davidson Acosta and one brother, James Henson.

June Boswell Adams, 85, Neosho, MO died December 25, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin after a short illness. June was born March 30, 1928 in Baxter Springs, KS to Roscoe Albert Boswell and Alta Marie Brinkley Boswell. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Newcomers and Neosho Area Widow to Widow. She was a seamstress working at La-Z-Boy Midwest for many years. She lived south of Seneca for about 50 years, and moved to Neosho 1-1/2 years ago. She married Donald William Adams on January 26, 1943 in Post Texas. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1997.
She had six children: Tresea June Adams, B&D, January 15, 1944, Evelyn Marie and Jerry Oxford, Inola, OK, Aleta Sue and Bud Boyer, Neosho, MO Donald Wayne and Patty Adams, Neosho, MO Franklin Roscoe ‘Ross’ and Glenda Adams, Neosho, MO and Calvin Victor ‘Butch’ and Sarah Adams, Seneca, MO. She had one brother, Albert Boswell who is deceased. She also had three sisters, Wanda Gilbert, Seneca, MO and Roberta Miller and Myrtle Kissel both deceased. She is survived by 11 Grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

She has lived in the Neosho area since 1968. She was a homemaker. She married Albert Royal Nageotte, October 4, 1950 in Dixon IL. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2001.
She is survived by seven children: Lonny Nageotte, Exeter, MO, Betty Todd, Neosho, MO, Roger Nageotte, Neosho, MO, Donald Nageotte, Springfield, MO, Florence Nageotte, Amity, AR, Debra Welch, Amity, AR Ronnie Allen Nageotte, Neosho, MO, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Floyd Rustin
Floyd Eugene Rustin age 83, Carthage, Mo. passed away Sunday December 22, 2013 at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Vernon, Mo. following a short illness.
He was born August 20, 1930 in Carl Junction, Mo. to Floyd and Ruby McGinnis Rustin.
Floyd served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. During his time in Korea he was assigned the duty of aircraft control tower operator. Floyd was employed with the Empire District Electric Company and retired as a plant operator.
He married Velma Wilson on April 9, 1949 and was a devoted husband for 64 years. Velma preceded him in death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Glen Rustin and 1 sister Barbara Swartz.
Floyd was a loving father who is survived by 2 sons, Steven Rustin and wife Jodie, Highland, Il., Doug Rustin and wife Wendy, Reeds, Mo., 1 sister Betty Couch, Springdale, Ar., 5 granddaughters, Rebecca, Bethany, Alyssa, Ashli, Samantha, and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 28, 2013 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel, with Camden Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

Linda was born November 11, 1950 in Joplin and was a lifetime Joplin resident. Linda was the Mgr. of the SPD department of the former St. John’s Regional Medical Center where she was employed for 28 years. She was a member of the Diamond Christian Church.
Linda married Dallas Hunt February 14, 1967 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2008. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, and three brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Candy Crockett and husband David, Glenwood, Iowa, and Debra Hunt, Joplin, two brothers, Donnie Ebbs and wife Stephanie, Wichita, Kansas, and Mike Ebbs and wife Darlene, Joplin, five sisters , Sue Hunt, Alice Hendrix, Donna Martin, Diane Ebbs, and Jeannette Ebbs, all of Joplin, and two granddaughters, Nichole Crockett, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Katy Crockett, Glenwood, Iowa.

Patricia Bishop
Patricia Ruth Bishop, age 75, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Sunday December 22, 2013, at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab Center, in Forsyth, Mo.
Patricia was born on December 25, 1937 in Picher, Ok., the daughter of the late James and Ruth (Hicks) Willey. She graduated from Joplin Junior College and attended the University of Arkansas. She worked several years as an assistant manager for Missouri Mills and as a department manager for Hobby Lobby and Ben Franklin Crafts, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts, but her favorite hobby was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne Thomas, Branson, Mo., and Kelly Bishop, Flower Mound, Tx.; one son, Phillip Bishop, Joplin; four grandchildren, Allison Marie Thomas, Zachary Ryan Thomas, Jonathan Michael Thomas, and Rodney Lee Bishop, II; several dear cousins; and a good friend, Linda Ashby.
The visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Cremation will follow services.

Terry Ivey
Terry F. Ivey, age 75, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday December 21, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family, following an illness.
Terry was born on March 16, 1938 in Gentry, Ar., the son of the late Andrew and Christina (Gorgas) Ivey. He married Betty Pickell on October 10, 1955. Together they made their home and raised four children in Joplin. He was a devoted husband and father. He worked nine years for Highland Dairy. In 1969 he opened Ivey’s Service Center on 7th Street. He and his wife Betty co-owned an operated the service center until retiring in 2002. The service center still remains open under the ownership of Jon and Pam Sullivan, Terry and Betty’s daughter and son-in-law. Terry was known as an excellent mechanic and for being very fair to his customers. Though he was a business man his passion was racing. From 1963 until 1977 he traveled the drag racing circuit across the U.S. He won the Grand Nationals in Dallas, Tx. and several other championships. His racing team was known as Terry “Poison Ivey.” His interest in racing and cars never waivered, he always remained a fan of the sport.
He is survived by his wife Betty, Joplin; three daughters, Bev Reding and husband Howard, Teresa Gilliam and husband Dave, and Pam Sullivan and husband Jon, all of Joplin; one son Randy Ivey and wife Roxanne, Bernice, Ok.; two sisters, Evelyn Linam, Colcord, Ok., and Phyllis Jean Kyle and husband Ray,Santa Clarita, Ca.; eleven grandchildren, Zach Endicott, Jake Lawver, Luke Lawver, Rachelle Bishop, Brittany Gilliam, Mia Ivey, Levi Ivey, Jason Sullivan, Emily Phipps, Jordan Rentfro, and Lydia Greenwood; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express a special note of gratitude to Mercy Hospice for their care during Terry’s illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Dr. Bruce Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Myron was a lifetime area resident. He worked 20 years for ICI explosive, retiring in 1993. Myron also worked at the Parsons Ammunition Plant. He was an avid bowler with the Senior League bowling at Carl Richards Bowl.
He married Kathryn McGinnis on December 27, 1955 in Miami, Ok and she survives. Also surviving is a son, Michael Sisk, Georgetown, Tx, 3 brothers Byron Sisk, Joplin, Mo., Jack Sisk, Ca., Bob Sisk, Huston, Tx., 3 sisters Mary Vandergrift, Carterville, Mo., Virginia Thoele, Ohio, Kathy Reynolds, Carterville, Mo. and 3 grandchildren, Evelyn Charland, Oscar Charland, and Joey Sisk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Harold, Olen, Gerald, Steve, and 1 sister Geraldine.

Jason Phillips, 34 passed away December 20, 2013, at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Missouri.
Jason was born in Carthage, MO. He was a lifetime Carthage resident. He worked for Carlille in Fort Scott, Kansas. Jason is survived by his wife Cherie Phillips, two daughters April and Ashley, three sons Jason, Justin and William. His mom Brenda Wintjen and Step-Father Clay Wintjen. John Spence
John Spence, age 71, Joplin, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
John was born September 13, 1942 in Dryers, Arkansas, son of the late Henry Larkin Spence and Ila Mae Bryant Spence. He served in the United States Navy, worked most of his life as a truck driver for Yellow Freight, and most recently he was operating a dump truck and hauling business in the Joplin area.
John loved being with his family, and was known for his great bar-b-que. He also enjoyed watching bull riding and boxing, and spent many hours in the woods coon hunting. He was a member of Perseverance Service, ATA Hall, and Central City Christian Church. He was formerly a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane M. Spence whom he married July 29, 1967, she passed away on January 22, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Jack, Rick and William; and sisters, Lucille Lundien, Faye Stanlan, and Dell Richardson.
Survivors include his wife, Nolene, whom he married September 4, 2011; son, William Spence and wife Kim; daughter, Angela Plank and husband Allan all of Springfield, Missouri; brother, T.B. "TBone" Therrell of Jackson, Tennessee; sisters, Edna "Sissy" Hunter of Yuma, Arizona, Olera Hartt of Nacogdoches, Texas, Henrietta Morgan of Joplin, and Opal Bernstein of Greenville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Lauren Spence and fiance' Luke Shelton, Lakynn Spence, Lawson Spence, and Aidan Plank.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel.

He was born October 11, 1923 to Joseph Rice and Lucy “Lowe” Rice in Jasper, Missouri. Floyd served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. The summer of 1957 Floyd left the Navy and settled in Hawthorn, California before returning the Carthage in 1994. He was a journeyman, painter, and contractor in Hawthorn for over 30 years. Floyd was a member of the 32 degree Masons and the Shriners-Scottish Rite.
Floyd married Evelyn Spurgeon on December 23, 1948 in Carthage. She survives. Survivors include five children William Rice and wife Monica of Golden City, Joe Rice and wife Jerri of Carthage, Diana Bjorklund and husband Richard of Joplin, Debra Rice of Carthage, and James Rice and wife Carolyn of Hawthorn, California; two sisters Leona Cherry of Carthage, and Iva Jones of Phoenix, Arizona; twelve grandchildren Christy Kilpatrick, Kathryn Deer, Kelly Gustafson, Lucy Washburn, Hollie Lee, James Rice, Eric Rice, Russell Rice, Ryan Rice, Michael Rice, Joshua Rice, and Matthew Rice; and eighteen great grandchildren Abigail, Emma, and Calvin Kilpatrick, Alexandrya, Ryan, Nicholas, and Devyn Deer, Allison, Montana, Madelyn, and Grace Washburn, Brynna, Amara, Dawson, Jenna, and Scarlett Lee, Terrance Rice, and Violet Rice. Floyd was preceded by his parents, three brothers Harold, Arthur, and Myron Rice, two sisters Helen and Blanche, and one grandson Charles E. Rice.

Florine was born August 24, 1921 in Webb City and was a longtime Webb City resident. Florine was employed for 20 years with the former Foodtown Grocery Store in Webb City. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Webb City.
Florine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Whitescarver, one brother, John Herd, one sister, Theo Hart, and a granddaughter, Ianna Mielke. Floyd Joseph Sill, age 86 of Joplin, passed away at 6:07 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Mercy Hospital after a long hard-working life.
Born January 13, 1927 in Joplin, he was the son of the late Dewey and Ethel Sill, he graduated from Joplin High School and lived in the Joplin area his lifetime. Floyd co-owned and operated Ozark Service Station on Main Street for over 40 years. The past 10 years he was a driver for the Fletcher dealership. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of the World War II Last Man’s Club and American Legion Post No. 13. Floyd also called square dances for the Western Twirlers.
On December 24, 1946 he married Billye D. Hagensicker at Columbus, KS. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2004. A brother, Lloyd and a sister, Vera, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Jayne Munday and husband Sam of Purdy, MO, Dana Neidert of Joplin, Gena Tucker and husband Steve of Joplin; a son, Joe Sill and wife Wendi of Joplin; four siblings, Verna Johnson, Lavita Kersey and Flo Howard, all of Joplin, Lorena Endicott of Santa Maria, CA; seven grandchildren, Kassie and Chris McCleary, both of Joplin, Josh Copher of Joplin, Josh Tucker of Huntington Beach, CA, Kolby Tucker of Joplin, Newton Neidert of Rochester, MN and Trey Neidert of Parker, CO; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Rosie Knight.

Dennis Ray Edie, age 64 of the Racine, MO area, passed away at his home at 2:19 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013.
Born May 12, 1949 in Mano, MO, he was the son of the late William Kenneth Edie and Hazel Marie Channel Edie. Dennis was Vice President and Purchasing Director for Kemlee Manufacturing Company in Galena, where he worked 30 years, retiring due to ill health in 2012. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Cassville, MO.
On July 4, 1971 he married Connie Marie Knull at Norfolk, NE. She survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Katrina Marie Edie of Joplin; a brother, Larry Gene Edie and wife Linda of Joplin; four nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a son, Seth David Edie and a brother, Gary Wayne Edie.

Roy Burton (Nub) Stephens, age 80 of the Belle Center community, West of Joplin, passed away at his home at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013.
Born December 25, 1932 at his family’s home in Belle Center, he was the son of the late William Warren Stephens and Josephine Belle Jones Stephens and was a 1950 graduate of Carl Junction High School. Nub worked for W.R. Grace and Atlas Powder Co. He then moved to Pasadena, TX with Premier Petro Chemical to design and build a new manufacturing plant. On his return to the Joplin area he and his wife owned and operated Covert Electric Motors until his retirement. The company remains family owned and operated. Nub was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Nub was a member of Central City Christian Church, Fellowship Lodge No. 345, AF&AM; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Joplin; and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple, Springfield and American Legion Post No. 13. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Joplin Elk’s Lodge No. 501.

Bruce L. Kuhn, age 54, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his home after a sudden illness.
Bruce was born June 9, 1959 in Joplin, son of Barbara Kuhn of Joplin, and the late J. C. Kuhn, Jr. who died February 1, 2008. Bruce graduated from Seneca High School, and then worked for several years with Eagle Picher, then Cardinal Scale, and most recently as a machinist with Webb Corp of Webb City. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Zach Kuhn and fiance' Kristin; daughter, Morgan Kuhn-Wofford and husband Jharus all of Joplin; his mother, Barbara Kuhn of Joplin; sister, Teri L. She was born October 5, 1924 in Jasper Missouri. She graduated from Jasper High School. Dixie lived in Salina and returned to Carthage in her early 40’s Dixie worked for Hallmark in Kansas City and then for Schrieber Cheese in Carthage for 45 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage. Dixie was an avid square dancer, she enjoyed fishing. She also enjoyed Mustang cars she traded for a new one every year.
Dixie is survived by one Sister-in-Law Dolores Arner of Carthage several nieces and nephews. Dixie is preceeded in death by her longtime dance partner Will. Three sisters Murriel, Maxine and Pearl. Four brothers Wayne, Keith, George and Jerry.
Services will by 2:00 p.m. Monday December 23, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Carthage, MO. Visitation will be 12:30p.m. to 1:30p.m. Monday December 23, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Carthage. Burial will be at Waters Cemetery north of Jasper, MO. Lois was born August 27, 1929 in Columbus, Kansas to the late Earl T. Creech and Bernice Vinny Cowell Creech.
She worked at Lockheed-Martin for many years as a manager in the legal department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Clyde Turnbull, Jr. on June 13, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a son, Leo C. Turnbull III in 2012.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanna Turnbull, Lamar, Missouri, Marian E. Turnbull, N. Hollywood, California; one granddaughter, Stephanie Zaslow; and one great grandson, Benjamin Evan Zaslow.
Graveside services are planned for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate.

Bonnie Brown
Bonnie Marie French Brown, age 85 of Sarcoxie, MO, passed from this life to meet her Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, on December 18, 2013 at 1:00 a.m.
Born September 28, 1928 in Wichita, KS, she was the daughter of the late Sherman French and Lillian Ermal Pennington French and lived her life in Wichita until moving to be close to her family in Sarcoxie in 2000. Bonnie graduated from North High School in Wichita and worked as a secretary at Wichita Roofing and Beech Aircraft. She also typed many theme papers for young people. She volunteered for Texas Baptist Builders and at the gift shop at St. John’s Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Joplin Heights Baptist Church where she taught the senior Sunday school class. In her younger years she served as a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed square dancing, camping and garage sales. Bonnie had a deep love for her family, always hosting annual family gatherings to which everyone looked forward. She never met a stranger.
On September 29, 1946 she married Robert O. Brown in Wichita. He preceded her in death November 26, 2004. Two brothers, John French and Harry French, along with Harry’s wife Norma, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Edwin R. Brown and wife Paula of Sarcoxie; daughter, Connie S. Porter and husband Ed of San Angelo, TX; four grandchildren, Christy Byrne and husband Brian of Sarcoxie, Wendi Webber and husband Phil of Boston, MA, Christopher Brown and wife Holly of Gilespie, IL, Scott Porter and wife Christi of Wichita; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew Byrne and wife Natali of Joplin, Kayla Byrne of Joplin, Courtney Byrne of Sarcoxie, Kelsie Brown of Arnold, MO, Wesley Webber of Boston, Kyle Webber of Boston, Bailey Parker and husband Wesley of San Antonio, TX, Britney and Brandon Porter; two sisters-in-law, Lola French of Wichita, Kay Horton and husband Ray of San Angelo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family extends their grateful appreciation for the care and compassion of Mercy Hospice and to Bonnie’s caregivers, Jeanette Sweet and Vicy Williamson.
A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Ed Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Sarcoxie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary in Joplin from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be given in honor of Bonnie, to Joplin Heights Baptist Church.

Alfred Joseph (Joe) Gourley, age 80 of Galena, KS, passed away at 10:35 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.

Born September 2, 1933 in Kansas, he was the son of the late Ira George Gourley and Eva Leford Gourley and had lived in Galena the past 40 years. He worked in maintenance for Fleming Food and was a member of the Teamsters’ Union. He married Dorothy McClain Gourley. She survives.
Additional survivors include two stepdaughters, Karen Channel and husband Bill of Joplin, Kathy Porter and husband Dave of Galena; stepson, Joe Paluskas and wife Shannon of Coopersville, MI; son, Gene Davies of Caldwell, KS; two sisters, Peggy Bellamey and husband Alvin of Galena, Mary Collins of Galena; two brothers, Jack Gourley and wife Judy of Galena, Keith Gourley of Baxter Springs, KS; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Kenny Gourley and wife Diana of Galena. In addition to his parents, a brother, Roy Gourley and two sisters, Virginia Theel and Gleane Channel Killion, preceded him in death.

Clifford Younger
Clifford Younger, 80, of Grove, Oklahoma passed away Friday December 13 after a short illness. Cliff was born on August 22, 1933 in Joplin, Missouri to Cleat and Dovie Younger. He served in the US Army Marksmanship Unit in Europe during the Korean War. On March 30, 1956 he married the former Willa Keen of Joplin, Missouri. He had a long and distinguished career developing equipment and technologies for the space program, including the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle programs. Later, he developed guidance systems and flexible circuitry for America’s defense systems and then went on to spend many years working in the civilian aerospace industry, building cables and harnesses for jet engines. Cliff moved from Joplin, Missouri to Grove, Oklahoma in 1980 with his wife, Willa. He retired from LaBarge Electronics in Joplin, Missouri after 30 years of service.
After retirement, Cliff had a great interest in preserving and protecting the water quality at Grand Lake ‘O The Cherokees, and served as a driving force in the Oklahoma Water Watch, where he recruited and trained many volunteers as water monitors. The models he devised for collecting and analyzing environmental data and water quality trends are now used by reservoir lakes across the country to protect, manage and restore water resources.
Cliff is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Lora Younger of Grove, Oklahoma, his daughter, Alice Younger Frank and son-in-law Eric Frank, of Austin, Texas, daughter Terri Younger Miller and son-in-law Douglas Miller of Napa, California, and his sister Lorna Whittenback of Joplin, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Keen Younger, his parents and his two brothers, Wesley Younger and Larry Younger.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday December 20, 2013 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel with Ken Pinney and Jim Holt officiating. Burial will follow at the Osborn Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Matthew Cozad
Matthew Cozad, age 44,. Joplin, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013.
Matt was born January 12, 1969 in Omaha, Nebraska, son of the late Howard Cozad and Sandra Gilliland Cozad. He lived in Springfield, Missouri for sometime before moving to Joplin where he has been a resident for the past 23 years. He was currently employed at Dyno Nobel of Carthage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Cozad.
Matt married Heather Stout on April 7, 1998 in Joplin, she survives.
Additional survivors include his son, Collin Cozad; brothers, David Geisler and wife Lisa of Ozark, Missouri, Paul Cozad of Lebanon, Missouri; sisters, Kelley DiNenna of Springfield, Virginia, Mikell Werder and husband Bill of Joplin, and Sharen Brown of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.

Justin Henson
Justin Ray Henson, age 34, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Saturday December 14, 2013, at his home.
Justin was born on September 19, 1979 in Joplin, the son of Rick and Susan (Riley) Henson. He has been a lifetime area resident. He was a licensed electrician and worked the past three years for K.A.B. Electric in Carl Junction. Prior to that he worked for Energized Electric of Grove, Okla., where he was able to travel across the United States for his job. He attended Christ Church of Oronogo. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He enjoyed the annual Henson Family Vacation at Crawford State Park and weekend outings at Spring River. Justin enjoyed vacationing with James Vigil and family at Disneyland.
Justin is survived by his twins Kain and Raigen Henson, Carterville, Mo.; his parents Rick and Susan Henson, Carl Jct., Mo.; one brother Ricky Henson and wife Heather, Joplin; two sisters, Jeni Vieselmeyer and husband Jason, and Utona Montez and husband Marcus, both of Carl Jct.; maternal grandmother, Nina Riley, Joplin; two nieces, Katie Roy and Makayla Henson; and four nephews, Ryan Henson, Jayden Montez, Ty Montez, and Luke Vieselmeyer. .
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Justin will be cremated following services. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Vicky Lynn Kissel, age 63, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday December 14, 2013 at her home, following an illness.
Vicky was born on February 24, 1950 in Joplin the daughter of the late Charles Pippin and Vivian (Reeves) Rapp. She has been a lifetime area resident. She worked at Eagle Picher. She was a member of The Sheep Shed and a former member of Central Christian Center for over forty years. She was a very good bowler.
She most recently married Winston Kissel on June 25, 1993, and he survives. Additional survivors include; three daughters, Melissa Day, Kimberly Day and Tonya Jones, all of Joplin; one step-son, Tyson Kissel, Webb City, Mo.; two step-daughters, Lindsay Kissel and Holly Overton, both of Carthage, Mo.; one half-brother, Butch Rapp, Joplin; one half-sister, Vanessa Rapp, Joplin; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sheana Vincent in 2010.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. She will be cremated following services.

Mary Elizabeth Prince, 76, Afton, OK, died December 11, 2013 at Tulsa, OK, following a lengthy illness. Mary was born March 4, 1937 in Tulsa, OK and then resident in Neosho, graduating from Neosho High School in 1954 and then attended SMS for three years. She retired from Tinker Air Force base, where she worked as a civilian administrative assistant and had also worked as a secretary for Burroughs Corp; McDonald Douglas and had worked with the F-15 project at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Mary was a member of the Lutheran Church. Mary is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; three children, Heidi Christensen, Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Eric Prince, Palm Coast, FL and Neils Prince, Palm Coast, FL and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be prior to the service from noon until 12:45 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Neosho IOOF Cemetery.

Wilson Roy Tripp, Jr., 81, Neosho, passed away peacefully December 14, 2013 at his home in Neosho.
Wilson was born June 29, 1932 to Wilson Roy Tripp, Sr. and Golda Pierce in Iowa. He spent most of his life in Waterloo, Iowa with his wife, Verla Mae Shortley. He was a Korean War Veteran and took his basic training at Ft. Crowder in Neosho. He returned to Neosho five years ago, to be with his son and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Verla; two brothers, Delford and Hoyt Tripp and a sister, Harriett. Wilson is survived by three sons, Chris Tripp and wife, Jane, Neosho; Micheal Tripp, Iowa and Richard ‘Ricky Tripp, Iowa; an adopted daughter, Kathy Siebrands of Arizona; three grandchildren, Richard Tripp, William Tripp and Crystal Thurman of Neosho; three great grandchildren, Mariah Thurman, Racheal Leeper and Wyatt Leeper and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Waterloo, Iowa, for friends and family to pay their respects.

Jeri Lynn Robbins, age 66 of Joplin, passed away at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 5, 1947 in Archer City, TX, she was the daughter of the late W.A. Watts and Billie Gipson Watts and had lived in Joplin the past 12 years. Jeri was a homemaker and loving mother. She was a member of First Christian Church in Archer City, TX.
Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Jenkins of Joplin, Melissa Howard and husband Randy of Yelm, WA, Becky Jo Press and husband Joe of Philadelphia, PA; a son Mikeal Segotta of Ocean Shores, WA; her sister, Sandra Hall of Peoria, AZ; nine grandchildren, Jolissa, Shelby, Mike, Cody, Clay, Layne, Joey, Riley and Jack; four great-grandchildren, Maci, Jocelyn, Baelin and Delaney.
Jeri was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Segotta and a granddaughter, Kathleen Jenkins.

Allan Ensor
Allan Ensor, age 91, of Neosho, Mo., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8th after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 14th 1922 in Taylor, Maryland. He married Betty Wallace Ensor on Aug. 26 1995 and she survives at their home in Neosho. He is also survived by three sons, Allan Ensor II and his wife Tami of Columbia, Mo., Robert Ensor and his fiancé Rebecca Luebber of Joplin and Terry Ensor and his wife Leah Wilder of Parkville, Mo., three grandchildren, Quentyn Ensor and Julie Ensor of Joplin and Alice Ensor of Vienna, Austria, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-children, Mike Guest and his wife Carol of Neosho and Sharon Daugherty and her husband Steve of Neosho. Five step-grandchildren also survive him, Jag Beveridge of Irvine, CA, Channing Beveridge of Busan, South Korea, Dakota Beveridge of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, April Hoover & Carson Guest, both of Neosho.
His mother Helen McComas, his brothers Benjamin Ensor, Stanley Ensor and one sister Dorothy Grafton, preceded him in death. One sister, Emily Walker of Homosassa, Fl, survives him.
Allan was defined by his naval experience in WWII. He joined prior to the war and was assigned to the light cruiser USS Nashville. When the war started, he quickly saw action as a part of Task Force 16, which was instrumental in the success of the Doolittle Raid. His ship participated in the Aleutian Operations, the defense of Guadalcanal, the raids on Marcus and Wake Islands, and numerous operations in New Guinea and Hollandia. Prior to the invasion of the Philippines he was reassigned to San Diego to train assault craft crews for the invasion of Japan.
In 1944 Allan married Clara Hayden Ensor of Carl Junction, Mo. She preceded him in death June 15th , 1997.
After the war he received training as linotype operator and worked in composing room of the Joplin Globe until the early 1960s. At that time he became a full time recruiter for the Naval Reserve Center in Joplin. During his tenure he received several awards for excellence in recruiting. He continued in that role until his retirement in 1979, as a Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate with 37 years of service. Following his retirement he worked for the Joplin Housing Authority and attended Crowder College. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Joplin and the Fleet Reserve Association. Allan also served the Carl Junction community as a councilman, member of the volunteer fire department and Scoutmaster for Troop 70. He loved the out of doors and spent countless hours cutting wood and manicuring his 20 acres.
Visitation will be at Mason-Woodard Chapel from 2-3pm on Sunday, Dec. 15th. Services will be at 10am Monday, Dec. 16th at Mason-Woodard Chapel, followed by burial, with military honors, in the Carl Junction Cemetery. Rev. Dave Burgess, of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Edythe Roberta Phillips age 94, formerly of Webb City, Mo. passed away Tuesday December 10, 2013 at the Christian Healthcare in Republic, Mo.
She was born February 5, 1919 in Johnson County, Mo. to Henry and Mae Underwood Kohler.

Hank Kost
Henry H. “Hank” Kost, age 86, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 6:34 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Mercy Hospital Joplin. Henry was born September 29, 1927 in Joplin and was a lifetime Joplin resident. Henry was a 1945 graduate of the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo. He was a 1954 graduate of Pittsburg State University. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Henry had a 35 year career with Empire District Electric Co., retiring in 1989 as Secretary-Treasurer for the Company.
Henry was a lifelong member of the First Community Church of Joplin. He served on the Church Board, and sang many years in the Church Choir. He was a member of the Joplin Elk’s Lodge #501 and a member of the Italian Heritage Society Henry was a former member of the Joplin Kiwanis Club, and a former member of the Centennial Choir in Pittsburg, Kansas. Henry’s hobbies included working with stained glass, painting, gardening, reading, and classical music. He and his wife enjoyed traveling abroad, particularly in Italy.
Henry married Ruth Kelley January 14, 1954 in Joplin and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Gregory Kelley Kost and wife Cynthia, Jackson, Tennesee, one daughter Jane Annette Autry and husband Steve, Houston, Texas, one sister, Marilyn Bowers, Saratoga, California, and three grandchildren; Patricia Jane Kost, Rebecca Elizabeth Autry, and Katherine Kelley Autry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Kost.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Community Church with Rev. Craig Tally and Rev. Brock Watson officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall. Inurnment will be in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Marjorie Thorn
Marjorie Mary Thorn, 82, a beloved wife and devoted mother, and a long-time resident, of Joplin, MO, passed away at 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday December 10, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Marjorie was born June 7, 1931, in Luana, Iowa, the youngest of four daughters, to the late Ray and Celia Mitchell. On December 27, 1947 she married Roy W. Thorn Jr., in Decorah Iowa. After Roy was drafted in 1951, they moved to San Antonio, TX, for his Basic Training, and then to Camp Crowder, in Neosho to finish out his military service, and then moving to Diamond, MO, Henry, IL, and eventually to Joplin, MO. While living in Henry, IL, she worked part-time for the Welcome Wagon Company and the Henry Grade School.
Marjorie was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, bowling, playing cards and games with her grand kids, and volunteering for several organizations and attending services at St. Peters Church in Joplin. She loved Flea Markets and Yard Sales.
Most of all, Marjorie cherished her family and friends, especially her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Majorie was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters; Regina and Lillion.
She is survived by her husband Roy W. Thorn Jr. of the home, her four children; Donald J. Thorn, of Joplin, MO, Pamala Carrier and husband Dennis, of Joplin, MO, Roy W. Thorn III, of Joplin, MO, Mike Thorn and wife, Lee Ann of Bartlesville, OK, eight grandchildren; Stacy Thorn, of Duncan, OK, Brandi Carrier, of Alexandria, VA, Tiffney Testerman and husband Nick, of Joplin, MO, Lindsay Smith, of Oklahoma City, OK, Ryan Thorn, of Stamford, CT, Mark Thorn, of Bartlesville, OK, Craig Thorn, of Bartlesville, OK, Megan Norman and husband Joey, of Kansas City, MO, four great-grandchildren; Keely Thorn, of Duncan, OK, Lillian Testerman, of Joplin, MO, Luke Wood, of Oklahoma City, OK, Josephine Testerman, of Joplin, MO; a sister Helen Vick, of Decorah, IA, a sister-in-law Bonnie Thorn, of Des Moines, IA, plus several nieces and nephews and their children.

Mikey Mata
Rance Miguel ‘Mikey’ Mata, age 37, Joplin, passed away at 10:11 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Freeman West E.R. from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Rance was born July 30, 1976 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dolores Lole Mata and Cleta Sexton Mata and had lived in Joplin for several years.
‘Mikey’, as he was known to his family and friends, worked for several years at Hampshire Pet Products. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation Tribe. He had many friends and will be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his companion, Tracy Gazaway, Joplin; his son, Zachary M. Mata, Joplin; two sisters, Tonya Mata and Jeanetta Fixico, both of Joplin; his parents, Cleta Mata and Dolores Lole Mata, Oklahoma; paternal grandmother, Cruz Lopez Mata; nephews, Junior Maturino, Marco Maturino, Joseph Martinez, Sequoyah Fixico Aunt Lena Maturino of Oklahoma; cousins, Tina and Phillip Reitz and children Erika and Baby, Victoria Maturino.
Mikey was preceded in death by a niece, Catherine Fixico; grandparents, Rev. Daniel and Catherine Sexton; paternal grandfather, Isabella Mata; and best friend, Luis Carlos Maturino.
Services are planned for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Byers Avenue United Methodist Church, 1730 S. Byers Ave. Rev. George Triplett will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Junior Maturino, Marco Maturino, Daniel (Perico) Mata, Joseph Martinez, Phillip Reitz and Baby Reitz. Honorary pallbearers will be George Triplett, Jr., DeLonte Triplett, Adrian DeCarlo, Doug Derrick, Josh Reitz, Javier Mata and Billy Martin. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ‘Bubby Account’ (Zachary Mata) at any Joplin Metro Credit Union location, or care of Parker Mortuary.
Family also requests that any food contributions be taken to the church for the family meal following the graveside service on Saturday.

Lois Morehead
Lois Kay Morehead ‘Cake Lady’, 69, Neosho, died Dec. 11, 2013 at her home in Neosho, following a short illness.
Lois was born March 18, 1944 in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Eugene and Alice (Schneider) Maxwell. She moved to the Neosho area in 1979 from Osawatomie, KS. She worked for 22 years at the Newton County Courthouse in the Collector’s office, retiring in 2010 and also, owned and operated, Cakes by Lois. She loved to fish, travel, raising roses, baking cakes and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Carthage and a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Lois and George Morehead were married on June 12, 1966 at Chanute, Kansas and he survives. She is also survived by two daughters and sons in law, Teresa and Matthew Uhles, Kirkwood, MO and Tracy and Jay Browning, Roeland Park, KS; one son and daughter in law, Todd and Teresa Morehead, Burlington, IA; seven grandchildren, Allyson, Gabrielle, Iris, Isaac, Ethan, Samuel and Aaron and two sisters, Donna Jones, Humbolt, KS and Karen Johnson, Harpers Ferry, WV.
Visitation will be 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013, at Clark Chapel of Memories.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage, Missouri. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Lutheran Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.

Celia Scifers
Celia Celeste White Scifers, age 93 of Springfield, MO, formerly of the Joplin area, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Culpepper Place of Springfield – East.
Born October 29, 1920 in Alba, MO, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ophelia Decker Pugh and graduated from Alba High School in 1939. She and her first husband Oscar Ira White, whom she married December 31, 1939, owned and operated a grocery and filling station at 43 and M Highways, North of Joplin, until 1955. She then worked for the former Pacific Mercury Company (later Fairchild’s), where she did intricate soldering and wiring for B-52 Aircraft. She taught evening soldering classes at Franklin Technical School. In 1963, she worked in public relations for St. John’s Hospital. Her last employment was as executive secretary for Dr. Stark in the Carl Junction School District, retiring in 1982.
Celia was baptized in the New Providence Baptist Church in 1949 and later belonged to Carl Junction United Methodist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Joplin, where she was active in the Son Shiners. She was also active in Christian Women’s Club of Joplin.
Her second husband, Hugh Bandy, also preceded her in death.
She married Edgar V. Scifers in 1979 and he preceded her in death in 1981. Three brothers, Royden Pugh, Lawrence Pugh and Buster Harmon; and a sister, Marie Coss, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Snyder and husband Larry of Ozark, MO; a sister, Margaret Smith of Joplin; two granddaughters, Dana Prentice and husband Dek of Ozark, Lacy Emmert and husband Dusty of Ozark; four grandchildren, Austin and Celeste Prentice, Brayden and Hallie Emmert; sister-in-law and best friend, Edith Pugh of Joplin; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will follow at Carl Junction Cemetery with Dusty Emmert, Dek Prentice, Clint and Jeff Smith and Verlie Coss serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the service hour at the mortuary.

She was born in Paden, Oklahoma on October 18, 1920 to George Carrol & Mollie Delanie Speir. She married her sweetheart; William Russell (W.R. or Bill) Turner on November 20, 1939 to this union was born six children. Billy Carroll; Marvin Douglas; Bruce Dewayne;

Her husband, of 50 years, her sons Billy and Marvin; her daughter Carol and grandchildren Scott and Adalee preceded her in death.

Betty Nan Burr Watson, 83, Neosho, died December 10, 2013 at her home, following a short illness.
Betty was born January 15, 1930 in Newton County, MO, the daughter of Homer and Ruth (Betzer) Burr. She worked at La Z Boy in Neosho and retired in 1992. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and was a member of the Rocketdyne Road Church of Christ. Betty is survived by her sister, Earlene Branick, who she called her ‘little angel’; three sons, Ed Whittington and wife, Martha; Scott Whittington and Mitchell Whittington, all of Neosho; two daughters, Dianne Ward and husband, Bob, Goodman and Sheila Turner and husband, Jim, Neosho; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren and a sister in law, Laura Burr. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Troy and Darrell Burr; brother in law, Bill Branick; niece, Dawn McCool and grandson, Charles Whittington.
Private family interment of the cremains will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home.

Bob was born May 29, 1925 in Flint, Michigan, son of the late Jasper and Mary Roy. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married JoDean LeMay on June 15, 1947.
He was ordained as a Baptist Minister at the age of 17, and he and his wife served many congregations throughout his career which spanned 68 years. He was a minister in California, New Mexico, and they moved to the Joplin area in 1996 where he served at 1st Baptist in Purcell and Reeds, and also filled in at several churches in South West Missouri. He was currently a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, JoDean LeMay Roy on February 17, 2007.
Survivors include his children, Mike Roy and wife Janette of Evans, Georgia, Steve Roy and wife Patty of Auburn, California, Don Roy and wife Lesli of Webb City; Vickie Hinton and husband Kirk of Kihei, Hawaii, Jaynee Bernall and husband Don of Libby, Montana, Susan Bailey and husband Ken of Colorado, and Jill Tremewan and husband Scott of Colfax, California; a sister, Sandy of LaVaca, Arkansas; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She worked for Carthage Health and Rehabilitation for several years. Tabatha was an avid Nascar fan. She enjoyed camping and floating. Tabatha was united in marriage to Jeffery Stark November 30, 1984 in Carthage, Missouri he survives. Tabatha is survived by her mother Lillian Kean, two daughters Missy Stark and Candida Parker all of Carthage, one brother Thomas Kean Jr. of Carthage and one sister Rose Lea Kean of Rogers. Three grandsons Jacob Parker, Ryan Parker and Nick Parker. Tabatha is preceeded in death by her dad Thomas Kean.

Teri was born October 9, 1955 to Paul and Billie Best. She graduated from Springfield’s Hillcrest High School. On June 29, 1973 she married Terry Highfill. To this union were born three daughters and one son. Teri Kaye and Terry were married for 26 years and remained wonderful friends to this day.
On March 6, 2004 she married Dave Jones in Eureka Springs, AR. He survives.
Teri worked at a variety of jobs in her life and specialized in customer service in the retail business.
Additional survivors include a son, Chad Highfill of St. Louis, MO; three daughters, Melanie Miner and husband Dave of Webb City, Stacey Walton and husband Cody of Car Junction, Tara Highfill of Joplin; stepson, Jeff Jones; three brothers, Michael Best, Dennis Best and Derek Best; two sisters, Julie Smith and Kenna Anagnostou; and 13 grandchildren in whom she found her greatest joy.
Teri was preceded in death by one of the most special people in her life, Terry's mom Lois Highfill.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.

Justin Oldham

Justin R. Oldham, 36, lifelong resident of Carthage, passed away on December 7, 2013 near Baxter Springs, Kansas. He was born October 16, 1977 to Raymond and Jeanelle “Hoover” Oldham in Carthage, Missouri. Justin formerly worked at Ozark Powder Company in Carthage; he was a cook at Benchwarmers Restaurant in Oronogo and had various construction jobs.

Lou Denny
Louis W. ‘Lou’ Denny, age 94, Carthage, passed away at 3:12 a.m. Saturday, December 07, 2013 at his residence.
Lou was born March 20, 1919 in Quincy, Illinois to the late Clovis Denny and Emma Weber Denny.
He worked at Emerson Electric Company as assistant general manager of electro mechanical products for 48 years, retiring in 1984. Lou was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1944 until 1946. He was a 30 year member of the V.F.W. Post #2590, Carthage and served as past District 7 Commander. He was also involved with running Bingo at the post for 25 years.
He married Hellen Louise Bass on December 28, 1970 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Steve Denny, Washington; a daughter, Linda Hartwig, St. Louis, Mo; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; in-laws, Bill and Velma Bass, Perry, Iowa, Carroll Bass, Carthage; Scott and Barb Simmer, Rod Neuhalfen, and several other extended family members and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Scott Simmer, Rod Neuhalfen, Dick Frink, Doug Klouse, Jim Hammond and Tom Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Bass, Jason Scott, and Jim Hartley. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post #2590, Carthage, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Carol Ann Knippel, age 65, Joplin, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at a local healthcare center after a sudden illness.
Carol was born October 9, 1948 in Joplin to the late Kenneth and Geneva Waggoner.
She worked for many years in the daycare at the former St. John’s Regional Medical Center. A homemaker, she loved being around children. Her time with her children and grandchildren meant everything to her. Carol also enjoyed listening to music and trips to play Bingo.
She married Eugene Knippel on December 15, 2001 in Joplin. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Stana Foreman and her husband, Michael, Anderson, Ann McClintic and Chris Diaz, Joplin; one brother, Kenny Waggoner and his wife, Sandy, Joplin; six grandchildren, Christian Triplett, Brianna Triplett, Landin Foreman, Danae Triplett, Paxton McClintic, Marshall Foreman; one great granddaughter, Ariah Lukey; and several other extended family members.
A visitation is planned for Tuesday from 5-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carol Ann Knippel Memorial Fund, in care of Parker Mortuary.
