Tayna Elaine Spurgeon, passed away December 5, 2013 at Mercy Hospital Joplin, MO.
Tayna was born November 15, 1952 in Carthage, MO to Wayne Ruark and Lilly Colleen “Aborgast” Ruark both preceeded her in death. She was a lifetime Carthage resident, Tanya was a homemaker and she worked at Schreibers Foods and Fast Trip in Carthage. She was an avid Bingo player. Tanya married the love of her life Tom Spurgeon October 17, 1968 in Carthage, MO. he survives.
Tanya is the mother of two daughters Tarenda Sikes and husband Jere of Webb City and Tammy Spurgeon of Joplin. Eleven grandchildren Telicia Spurgeon, Donavon Spurgeon, Tacobi Bruce, Cameron Fraser, Jagger Fraser, Tarin Bruce, Neikko Spurgeon, Jasmine Sikes, Sebastian Sikes, Trevin Spurgeon Trent Leigh Lewellen and two great grandchildren. Six brothers Dennis Ruark and wife Mary Jane of Joplin, Gary Ruark and wife Debbie of Carthage, Bart Wilson and wife Judi of Avilla, Kevin Ruark of Carthage and Darroll Ruark of Carthage and George Ray Ruark of Diamond. One sister Cindy Mitchell and Husband Claude of Avilla. Tanya is preceeded in death by her parent’s three grandchildren Tristan Bruce, Garrett Dietz and Xander Sikes. One Nephew Denny Ruark Jr. and one sister Theresa Ruark.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday December 9, 2013 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. The body will be taken for cremation after the visitation and a Memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
