Anna Dyer

Anna Laurie Dyer passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at her home in Carthage, Mo. She was 56.

Laurie was born May 31, 1957, in Hunt, Texas, to Donald Larston McKinney, Sr. and Rosemarie (Heckert) McKinney.

Laurie grew up with her close family and friends in Carthage, Mo., graduating from Carthage High School in 1975 before marrying Howard Reed Dyer in 1980 and moving to Lansing, Kan., shortly after. She was a “self-taught” expert in electronics, working for a number of years at General Instruments in North Kansas City, Mo., and, after returning to Carthage in 1997, Cardinal Scale in Webb City, Mo. She got her start in the electronics field at Norman Labs in Norman, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald, mother, Rosemarie, uncle, Henry Heckert, and younger brothers, Donnie and David McKinney.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Cody Dyer, nephews, Michael and Greg McKinney, niece, Haley McKinney, former husband, Howard Reed Dyer, dear friend, William Duncan and many close friends who, in most cases, she had known since childhood.

A visitation is scheduled from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, Mo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Laurie to Grace Episcopal Church, 820 Howard St. Carthage, MO 64836.
