Terry Maneval

Terry Vaughn Maneval, 75, Jasper, Missouri, passed away Tuesday morning, May 30, 2023, at his home with family by his side. 

Terry was born March 22, 1948, in Lamar, Missouri, the son of the late Vaughn Maneval and Genevieve (Moreen) Maneval. He was a 1966 graduate of Jasper High School, and then received his associate degree in refrigeration and air conditioning from Pittsburg State University. He was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. 








Terry married Joyce Pugh on October 3, 1970, at the Jasper Methodist Church, Jasper, Missouri. He was owner/operator of Maneval, Inc. in Jasper, Missouri, until his retirement. 

He was a member of Faith Life Worship Center, Carthage, Missouri. Terry loved music and collected musical equipment, but most of all, loved his family.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joyce Maneval; two sons, Derek Maneval (Robyn), Carthage, Missouri, and Carson Maneval, Jasper, Missouri; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Huron (Brendon), Olivia Maneval, Lydia Maneval, Andrew Maneval, and Jonathan Maneval; three great-granddaughters; and many extended family and friends.








He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ken Maneval and Lew Maneval.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Monday, June 5, 2023, at Faith Life Worship Center, Carthage, Missouri. The burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jasper, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm, Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Missouri.

DeWayne Barker

John “DeWayne” Barker, 59, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023. He was born on December 14, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, to Herbert Jr. Barker and Judy Clark. 

DeWayne was a self-employed contractor. He loved to make life fun! He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and spending time with all his friends and family. He could put a smile on anybody’s face.









DeWayne leaves behind a son, Sammuel Edwards of Sarcoxie; a daughter, Micah Edwards of Sarcoxie; his mom, Judy Barker Schmidtke; four brothers, Lance Barker (Janet) of Carl Junction, Stephen Barker of Carl Junction, Russell Barker of Carthage, and Clifford Barker of Neosho; three sisters, Melinda Clark (Jay) of Salado, Texas, Cheryl Todd (Troy) of Diamond, and Heather Maddock (Michael) of Fulton; four grandkids, Avalon Hope Edwards, Link DeWayne Edwards, Emery May Edwards, and Elaine Marie Stow; and an abundance of nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his dad Herbert Jr. Barker and his brother Gregory Barker.

A celebration of life for DeWayne will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Kellogg Lake Pavilion in Carthage, Missouri.

Perry Bradley

On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Perry Lee Bradley of Greeley, CO, loving father, son & brother, passed away at the age of 58.

Perry was born December 2, 1964, in Stella, MO, to Mary & David Bradley. Perry was a filmmaker at Kodak for 20 years. He was a faithful member of the La’Salle Eagles Club, and would give the shirt off his back for anyone, even when he was battling cancer.









Perry is survived by his father, David Bradley; one brother, Orkie Bradley; two sisters, Denise Ransom & Debbie Augustine, as well as one daughter, Letha Arthur; and three grandchildren, David, Matthew & Emaleigh Arthur. Perry was preceded in death by one son, David R. Bradley; one nephew, Matthew Cramer; and his mother, Mary Bradley, one day after his death.

Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 PM on Friday, June 2, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Charleston Cemetery.

Alan Bates

Alan Kent Bates, 88, Seneca, MO resident, passed into eternal rest on May 31, 2023, at his home after an illness.

Alan Kent Bates was born March 30, 1935, in Carterville, MO. the son of Robert and Leola (Henson) Bates.

Alan moved to Racine, MO in 1951 and attended Neosho High School until the first half of his sophomore year. He then transferred to Seneca High School where he graduated in 1953.






 

Alan served in the Naval Reserves from 1953 to 1954. He attended Joplin Junior College for a short time studying commercial arts. Alan went to work at Eagle Pitcher in Joplin, MO, and eventually for the American Telephone & Telegraph in 1960, where he worked for 14 years in Joplin, MO. Alan moved to Seneca and worked for American Tripoli, where he retired as the plant manager in 1990 at the age of 55. Alan served two terms on the Seneca City Council and was a board member of the Seneca Cemetery Board to date. He was a member of the Seneca United Methodist Church.

Alan Kent Bates married Wanda Louise Hoff on October 22, 1954. Alan & Wanda loved to fish, play golf, and travel in their RV. She preceded him in death on September 2, 2011. He is also preceded in death by his parents Robert & Leola Bates; 3 sisters Virginia Shirley Bates, Melba Roberta James, and Norma Katheryn Bates.

Survivors include 2 sons Brad Alan Bates of Carthage Missouri, and Kent Evan Bates and wife Marsha of Seneca Missouri; daughter Kay Ann Etheridge and husband Scott Etheridge of Tulsa Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren Evan Alan Bates of Broken Arrow Oklahoma, and Ashley Ann Miller of Miami Oklahoma; 5 great grandchildren Hayden, Hayes, and Holden Miller of Miami Oklahoma; Cooper, Briley Bates of Broken Arrow Oklahoma, and special friend Patsy Meyer of Seneca Missouri.








A celebration of life graveside memorial will be held at Seneca Cemetery on Saturday June 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM.

The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.

Glenn Rose

Glenn Rose, age 72, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Circle of Life Hospice, Bentonville, Arkansas. 

Mr. Rose, son of Johnny James and Isabell (Cargile) Rose, was born on September 27,1950, in Washburn, Missouri. He was a 1968 graduate of Southwest High School in Washburn. 

On June 19,1970, Glenn was united in marriage to Drucie Treadwell, in Seligman, Missouri; she survives. He was a member of Mission Baptist Church in Washburn. Glenn owned and operated G & D Trucking, loved raising quarter horses and traveling with his wife.








Survivors include his wife, Drucie of 52 years; one brother, Johnnie Lee Rose and his wife Sue, of Republic, Missouri; two sisters, Lola Vanzandt and her husband Carroll, of Seligman, Missouri, and Lula Patrick, of Rogers, Arkansas; two brothers-in-law, Tom Treadwell and his wife Karen, of Neosho, Missouri, Donnie Treadwell and his wife Gayla, of Washburn, Missouri; four sisters-in-law, Mary Rose, Ronnie Rose, Janet Rose, and Brenda Treadwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam, Charles Ronald "Doc", JD, and Russell, one sister-in-law Helen Rose, and one brother-in-law, David Treadwell.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Washburn Prairie Cemetery, with Pastor Chuck Sackman officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the cemetery.

Paul Barnett

Mr. Paul L. Barnett, 77, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, May 29, 2023, at McDonald County Living Center after a long illness.

Paul entered this life on December 4, 1945, in Neosho, Missouri, the only son born to the union of the late Sterling and Irene (Jones) Barnett. He was raised in Neosho and was a 1963 graduate of Neosho High School. 








On May 7, 1971, he was united in marriage to Nancy Carter and together they have shared the last fifty-two years. Paul was a truck driver throughout his life, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, riding motorcycles, photography, and visiting with his friends at various places all over Anderson. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Anderson and a Veteran of the United States Army.

Paul is survived by his wife, Nancy Barnett, of the home; three children, Brenda Slough and husband, Phillip, of Kansas, Oklahoma, Paul Tabor of Hobart, Oklahoma and Lisa Rosewicz and husband, Chad, of Harrison, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Christine Sumner and husband, Donnie, of Neosho; as well as a host of other family and friends.






 

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Union Cemetery near Longview with Pastor Austin Wylly officiating. 

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Chad Rosewicz, Mason Rosewicz, Donnie Sumner, David Sumner, Danny Coleman and Wesley Coleman. Virginia Shelton

Virginia Mae Shelton, daughter, loving wife to Leslie Shelton, mother of two, grandmother of seven and great grandmother of seven was born on June 6, 1930, as America was descending into the Great Depression. She was the daughter of Andrew and Dolly Radford who along with her 6 brothers and 2 sisters grew up in the rural countryside of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

At the age of 17, she relocated to Virginia where she met Leslie James Shelton, a soldier in the United States Army. They soon married and in time joyfully welcomed their sons Kenneth George and Edward James. 








Due to military assignments their family moved often, living in a number of states and internationally in England, Germany and Italy finally retiring to Goodman, Missouri.

Virginia was selected as the Military Wife of the Year representing the Southern European Task Force based out of Vicenza, Italy! She enjoyed working as a volunteer Grey Lady, and a dental assistant at military bases where her husband was stationed; she also worked as a cafeteria worker and in catalog sales.

Virginia was a lifelong Christian, she set an example by the way she lived out her Christian faith. Through her faith in Jesus Christ she received his free gift of salvation and Holy Spirit given giftings of service, wisdom, giving, and teaching which always inspired and motivated others to follow Jesus.








She held the position of Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star which is a society of dedicated women who sincerely reflect the spirit of fraternal love and the desire to work together for good.

Upon retiring to Goodman, Missouri she weekly enjoyed her time quilting with friends, and serving on multiple committees at Goodman Baptist Church. Her hobbies included Crocheting, Quilting, Fishing, and her love for dogs.

Virginia is survived by her two sons, Kenneth George married to Wendy Stephenson Shelton and Edward James married to Suzanne Lillian Shelton.

She is survived by grandchildren Cassie and her husband Michael Lund, and Meghan and her husband Ryan McCrackin, Crystal and her husband Michael Griffith, Charmaine Francean Shelton, Samuel Plinio Shelton, Annette and her husband Obadiah Scroggins and Barbara Shelton.








She is also survived by great grandchildren Obadiah Scroggins, Landen Scroggins, Gideon Galutia, Moriah Lund, Uriah Lund, Adelaide McCrackin and Virginia McCrackin.

She is survived by one sister Judy Bell.

We will miss your beautiful example and your willingness to always be there for us!

Becky McDannald

Becky Jo McDannald lost her battle with cancer on May 24th 2023. Becky was born on July 3rd, 1976 to Debi Pickett and Mike Conrad.

Becky had a lifelong dream of being a mother and was blessed with two children. She was a devoted mother who adored her family. In her freetime, she enjoyed cleaning, listening to music, and eating sushi.

Becky is survived by her two children Michael McDannald and Braecklin McDannald, her mother Debi Pickett (Chris LaGrange), four of her siblings, Joshua Wemple (Rachel Wemple), Bethany Harper (Ryan Harper), Aaron Wilson (Brianne Wilson), Adam Conrad (Bradley Alan), one niece Natallie Harper, four nephews Daniel, Jonah, Owen, and Weston, three stepchildren Caitlin, Melissa, and Aaron, 4 aunts, 4 uncles, and 7 cousins and her fiance Sean Tackett and his four children. 








She is predeceased by her brother, Seth Wemple; her grandmother, Carleene Pickett; her grandfather, Delbert Pickett; and her father, Mike Conrad.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at the College Heights Christian Church. Dr. Thomas Hawkins, will officiate. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

Sue Scheurich

Danna Sue (Cook) Scheurich passed from this life on May 29, 2023 at home with her family. It was Memorial Day, a holiday she revered.

Sue was born in Cassville, Missouri on March 11, 1951 to James Daniel Cook and Jessie Allene Cox Cook. Because of her father’s Army postings, Sue moved several times in her youth from Missouri to California, Kentucky and Augsburg, Germany. Her family finally settled in Monett where Sue made friendships that continued throughout her life. With four years as a cheerleader and the title of “Courtesy Queen” under her belt, Sue graduated from Monett High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University. She married Gregory M. Scheurich in 1971.








A life of partnership in family and business followed. Sue was employed by First National Bank, Sebastian Equipment Company and CNC Machine Products.

Service to others was part of Sue’s DNA. She was a tireless worker for St. Mary’s Church and Joplin Area Catholic Schools. She delivered dinners to homebound seniors on behalf of Good Samaritan Meals on Wheels for many years and was a Mercy Hospital volunteer. She was a member and past chair of The Friends of St. Avips in support of Spiva Center for the Arts. Sue’s gracious favors and deeds for her many friends were a hallmark of her selfless life.

Her favorite activities included attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals, traveling with friends, convening with her book club and bridge groups, and meeting with The Domino Girls, her Monett High School classmates. She was an honorary member of the McAuley class of 1966.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by Greg’s parents, Martha (Grandma) and Raymond (Bobo) Scheurich and her three siblings, Richard F. Cook, William A. Cook and Sandra Buckland-Look.








Survivors include her husband, Gregory; two children, Jeffery Scheurich (Veronica) and Elizabeth Scheurich (Josh Taylor); two grandchildren, Lauren and Andrew Scheurich; eleven nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Joplin. Funeral service will be Friday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s. A private interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery will take place at a later date.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Ronald McDonald House of the Four States in Joplin or Lafayette House.

Sarge Davis

James Gerald “Sarge” Davis, age 92 of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas, with his loving family by his side.

Sarge was born to the late, Van and Mae (Brown) Davis on December 28, 1930 in Grinnell, Iowa. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, retiring after 21 years. Sarge then became a teacher, teaching at the Carthage and McDonald County Schools. He was a member of the Pineville American Legion Post #392. Sarge enjoyed restoring antique cars and vacationing in San Destin, Florida.








He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Sarge is survived by his wife, Rannie Davis of the home; four children, Dennis Lloyd Davis and wife, Trisha of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jennifer Lynn McNamara and husband, Bill of La Russell, Missouri, Debra Kay Davis and husband, Steve of Joplin, Missouri, Christopher James Davis and wife, Hope of Decatur, Mississippi; a stepson, Clayton Paul Bounds of Bentonville, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, three step grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss him.

Graveside funeral service for Sarge will be held on Monday on June 5, 2023 at 10:00 a­.m. in the Anderson Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri. Brother Brad Frieson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.

Vickie Davis

Vickie Jo Stillions Davis 68 of Noel, MO departed this life Wednesday May 17, 2023 to be with our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. Vickie entered this life September 9, 1954, in Neosho, MO. Vickie was the daughter of the late Victor Lee Stillions and Bonnie Mae (McMahan) Stillions. 

Vickie was raised in Noel, MO and was a McDonald County graduate. Vickie resided most of her life in Noel, MO.







Throughout her life Vickie achieved many achievements and goals. She worked at Hudson Foods and Tyson's many years as quality control, USDA to almost receiving her PhD in Agriculture. Vickie also worked within other companies such as Walmart PMDC to McKee Foods. 

Vickie centered her life around her family and friends. Vickie had so much love she poured into her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vickie's heart was so pure' she was always giving. Vickie will be so dearly missed to all who had known her. Vickie was a blessing to so many. 







Vickie is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Linda Stillions. 

Vickie is survived by her two children Jeremy, wife Connie Davis of Garfield, Arkansas. One daughter, Pepper Davis ALFARO of Noel, MO, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. One brother Victor Lee Stillions, Jr. Of Noel, MO and one sister Patsy Stancell of Anderson, Mo.

Graveside service will be held at Tracy's Cemetery on June 10, 2023 at 1 PM. Vickie's great nephew will be officiating.  

Jim VanHoose


James “Jim” Benson Van Hoose was born November 27, 1934 in Joplin, Missouri the son of Alton LeRoy and Ala Louise (Clark) Van Hoose. He went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 25, 2023 in Oklahoma City at the age of 88. 

Jim was raised in Webb City, Missouri where he graduated from Webb City High School in 1952, then he received an appointment to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He was proud to have graduated in the class of 1958. One of the highlights of Jim’s life was attending his Naval Academy reunions. 








Jim married Marilyn Mae Mullins on July 18, 1958 after dating only three weeks. Jim served as a lieutenant in the Navy, where he flew an A4D Skyhawk Attack Bomber off of aircraft carriers. In 1963, with three young boys and a wife at home, Jim decided to raise a family utilizing his engineering degree. He loaded up the family and moved to OKC to start a succesful career with Trane Hvac. 

In 1980 Jim founded Van Hoose Construction where he served as the President until retiring in 2007. Jim and his family were longtime members of Central Presbyterian Church and later they were members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In retirement, Jim and Marilyn enjoyed spending winters at their home in Fort Myers, Florida. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Martha Jean Van Hoose, Jane Benson and her husband, Bruce; and his great grandson, Mason Coon. 

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; his sons, Scott Van Hoose and his wife Susan, Greg Van Hoose and Jeff Van Hoose and his wife, Courtney; his daughter, Marylynn Hisey and her husband Brent; his grandchildren, Nichelle Churchwell (Clayton), Matt Van Hoose (Tram), Jennifer Young (Josh), Sydney Coon (Jana), Griffin Van Hoose, Grant Van Hoose (Carrie), Jane Van Hoose, Bailey Norris, Reagan Hisey, Erin Hisey (Matt Kearney), Hayden Hisey; and his great grandchildren, Anthony Churchwell, Tristan Coon, Jett Coon, Alden Kearney and Jade Van Hoose. 








Memorial service will be Saturday, June 3rd at 11:00 AM in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Following the service the family will receive friends at the Greens Country Club. A private family inurnment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Peggy Brown

Peggy L. Brown, age 96, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, in Springfield, MO. Peggy was born in Joplin, MO on November 5, 1926, to Charles R. and Mildred P. (Serviss) Jackson.

Peggy graduated from Joplin High School in 1944. On July 6, 1947, she married Paul Edward Brown in her family home. 

During her 90 years in Joplin, she was a member of Club 44, served as President of the adult board of Joplin Eagles Nest, and is a member of Chapter GA of P.E.O. 








She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she and Paul were active in the chancel choir and served as sponsors of the Christian Youth Fellowship. She and Paul moved to Springfield in 2017.

As an avid sports fan, she was a member of the Missouri Southern Lionbackers, loved the Arkansas Razorbacks, and played golf for 40 years at Briarbrook Golf and Country Club, serving as president of the Women’s Golf Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Betty J. Leib. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Sally Jenkins (David) of Springfield; two grandchildren, Melissa Jenkins, of Springfield, and Chad Jenkins (Shellie) of Broken Arrow, OK; four great grandchildren, Ian Holland, Kendyn Jenkins, Kasyn Jenkins, and Savanna Brown; and several nieces and nephews.







Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with family receiving friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at the mortuary, with The Reverend Jody Furnas-Wright officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Peggy to Cottey College or to the Joplin Humane Society and may be entrusted to the mortuary at 1502 S. Joplin Ave, Joplin, MO 64804.

Dylan Wallace

Dylan Wayde Wallace was born July 22, 1990 in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Wayne and Barbara (Parsley) Wallace. He entered into rest suddenly on May 26, 2023 at the age of 32. 

Dylan was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Diamond High School in 2009. 










He has worked at Lowe’s in Joplin, as a hunting guide for K and K Hunting, Ozark Crane, Matt Denny Construction and currently as a mechanic with his father. Dylan was an exceptional deer hunter, turkey hunter, fisherman and loved all outdoors and running dogs with his father. He attended Diamond First Baptist Church. 

Dylan is survived by his parents, Wayne and Barbara Wallace of Diamond; son, Wade Jackson Wallace of Neosho; sister, Tiffany Jordan of Diamond and his paternal grandmother, Faye Wallace of Diamond. 

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jutta Gerhards and Jack B. Parsley and his paternal grandfather, Bud Wallace. 








Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2 pm at the Diamond First Baptist Church, Frankie Hency and Pastor Tivis Booth will officiate. Interment will be in the Kenney Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Kent Daniels, Marty Danner, David James, Carl James, Johnny Bradley and Ethan Lucas. 

 Those serving as honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Burke, Michael Burke, Simon Burke, Austin Greninger and Travis Heckmaster.

Kimberly, (Kim) Jo Bowen, age 56, passed away May 27, 2023, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born May 24, 1967, in Springdale, Arkansas to Lawrence and Joetta (Cain) Bowen.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Randy Ray Bowen; her maternal grandparents Mack and Elsie Cain; and her paternal grandparents Richard and Grace Bowen.









Kim is survived by her parents, Lawrence and Joetta Bowen of Bethel Heights, Arkansas; her family, Jennifer Tucker of Springdale, Arkansas; her children, Cole Bowen of Springdale; Wynter Smith of Springdale; Kellsie Freshwater (Coy) of Lowell, Arkansas; Kanten Pullen (Chelsea) of Atlanta, Georgia; Khloe Tucker of Dallas, Texas; Kade Tucker (Edie) of Winter Park, Florida; Kollin Tucker of Springdale; her brother Kevin Bowen (Tina) of Bethel Heights; her nephew Tyler Bowen (Sara) of Huntsville, Arkansas; her great-niece Rylie Bowen; her great-nephew Ryder Bowen; and countless friends and family members.

Kim graduated as valedictorian from Rogers High School in 1985. After high school she played basketball at Missouri Southern State University for one year before transferring to the University of Arkansas where she graduated in 1990 with a BSBA in Administrative Management. In 1987 she started her career at Wal-Mart where she worked until her passing.

For an astounding 37 years, Kim poured her heart and soul into her work at Walmart. She epitomized the values of loyalty, perseverance, and dedication. Her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment made her an invaluable asset to the company. Kim's infectious enthusiasm and genuine care for others made her not just a respected colleague, but also a cherished friend. Her steadfast work ethic and determination serve as an enduring inspiration for us all.

Sports were a passion that burned brightly within Kim's heart. She was an avid supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Kansas City Chiefs, and St. Louis Cardinals, demonstrating an intense loyalty to her teams. Whether it was donning the team colors, cheering from the stands, or engaging in spirited discussions with fellow fans, Kim's love for sports was contagious. Her enthusiasm for the games served as a reminder of the joy and camaraderie that sports bring to our lives.








Kim's love for sports extended beyond the realm of fandom. She embraced the spirit of tailgating at Razorback football games, creating lasting memories with family and friends. The laughter, the delicious aromas wafting from the grill, and the spirited conversations brought her immense joy. Kim's infectious spirit and warm hospitality made those tailgating gatherings truly special occasions, etching themselves into the hearts of all who shared in those moments.

Kim's dedication to nurturing young athletes went beyond her own family. She selflessly coached numerous youth sports teams, passing on her knowledge, skills, and values to the next generation. Through her guidance, she instilled the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, leaving a lasting mark on the lives of the young athletes she mentored. 

All of Kim's hard work and dedication would come to be recognized in 2022 when she would be inducted into the prestigious Rogers High School Athletic Hall of Fame for her exceptional achievements in basketball, volleyball and track. 

Kim was a 3-year varsity letterman in basketball, volleyball and track. She was selected All-Conference twice in basketball and once in volleyball and selected All-State in basketball her senior year. Kim was a member of three cross country state championship teams. She is listed in the top ten of numerous basketball and track records at Rogers High School. Her legacy as an athlete, and coach will forever resonate within the hearts and minds of those she inspired.








Beyond her love for sports, Kim had a deep appreciation for the beach. The sound of crashing waves and the feel of sand between her toes brought her a sense of tranquility and solace. She found peace and rejuvenation in the beauty of nature, often taking long walks along the shoreline or reading a good book. The beach was her sanctuary, a place where she could escape the pressures of everyday life and embrace the simple pleasures that the world had to offer.

Grilling was one of Kim's passions, a skill she mastered with precision and flair. Whether it was a summer cookout or a casual get-together, she delighted in preparing mouthwatering dishes that brought people together. Through her culinary talents, she nurtured not only the stomachs but also the souls of those lucky enough to taste her creations. The memories of those delicious meals will forever be cherished by all who experienced Kim's culinary prowess.

Family held a special place in Kim's heart. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her presence brought immeasurable joy to those around her. As a loving companion, devoted mother, faithful sister, and wonderful daughter, she created a strong and nurturing foundation for her loved ones. 

Kim's unwavering support, encouragement, and boundless love served as a guiding light for her family, giving them strength in times of need and celebrating their victories with unbridled joy. The profound impact she had on her family's lives will forever be cherished and held close to their hearts.

As we reflect upon her remarkable journey, we are reminded of the profound impact she had on those around her. Kim's dedication to her work, her fierce love for sports, her joy in the simple pleasures of life, and her profound commitment to her family have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 2nd from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, Rogers, Arkansas. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 3rd at 10:00am at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, Rogers, AR, with a burial to follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale, AR.

William Scott

William Harold Scott, 90, of Jasper, Missouri passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Lockwood, MO. William was born on Friday, March 24 , 1933 in Jasper County, Missouri to Earl Whitney and Lois Lucille (Probert) Scott. 

He was a farmer. William graduated from Golden City High School and was an U.S. Army veteran.






 

William was united in marriage to Carol Brasher on November 6, 1971. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jim Scott (Sarah) of Lockwood, MO, and John Scott (Maice) of Columbia, MO, one daughter, Kristen Beerly also of Columbia, one brother, Bob Scott of Lee’s Summit, MO, two sister-in-laws, Alene Scott and Wanda Willis, one brother-in-law, Gene Fanning, and six grandchildren, Grace, Will, Lyla, Hayes, Lucille, and Isaac. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lois Scott, in-laws, Mitch and Doris Brasher, brother, Jim Scott, son-in-law, Chad, two brother-in-laws, Jim Baldwin and James Brasher, and three sister-in-laws, Judy Scott, Eugenia Fanning and Faye Baldwin.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May31, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Mo. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.at Weng Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with full military honors.

Linda Whitteck

Linda Ann Whitteck, age 65, passed away May 25, 2023, in Webb City, Missouri after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Linda was born April 11, 1958, in Carthage, MO. She was the daughter of Raymond W. Cash and Ann M. (Hagen) Cash.

She graduated from Parkwood High School in 1976. In 1980, she graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she majored in Art and Minored in History.








Linda married Mark C. Whitteck on June 04, 1993 in Blue Springs, MO. During their union they welcomed three children: Joel Hoyt, Jason Hoyt, and Jesse Whitteck.

Linda spent her career as an insurance and investment representative. She was employed at Kansas City Life Home Office. She successfully obtained her LOMA Designation, FLMI and ACS, and her Series 6 Securities License. Linda was, also, a substitute teacher at Webb City School and Joplin Schools. She attended the Leadership Joplin 2009 program.








Linda was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Ann Cash, and her brother, Gary Cash.

Linda is survived by her husband, Mark Whitteck of Webb City, Mo; sons, Joel (Jacqui) Hoyt of Joplin, Mo, Jason Hoyt of Lees Summit, Mo, and Jesse (Raven) Whitteck of Jacquin, Tx; five grandchildren: Kayla, Lily, Caleb, Allie, and Ana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to HOPE 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation in care of the mortuary.

Samantha Kay Causby was born on March 3, 1980, in Joplin, Missouri, and passed away on May 25, 2023 in her home in Reeds after a lengthy illness. A spirited and captivating individual, Samantha spent 43 years living in Reeds, Missouri, making a lasting impact on those who knew her. Her unique qualities and accomplishments were a testament to her incredible determination and devotion to her passions.

A talented truck driver by trade, Samantha spent 13 memorable years working for a transportation company. She went by the handles "Miss Kay" and "Little Foot" during her time on the road, gaining recognition and respect from her fellow drivers. Her love for truck driving was not just a job, but a hobby that brought her immense joy and satisfaction. 








Samantha's life was greatly enriched by her children, Jessica and Ryan, who meant the world to her. Her dedication to her family and her career showcased her strong and loving nature.

Samantha is survived by her mother, Patty Causby; her daughter, Jessica Causby; her son, Ryan O'Hair; and her uncles, Henry and Chester Pendergraft. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Causby. A graveside service will be held 11am on Thursday, June 1st at Park Cemetery, located at 801 South Baker Boulevard, Carthage, Missouri, 64836.

Jay Chew

Jay Dee Chew, age 70 of Joplin, Missouri passed away Tuesday May 23,2023 at Sarcoxie Nursing Home. After a long battle with COPD, Jay went home to be with his Lord and Savior. 

Jay loved fishing and doing woodworking, building all kinds of things and was very good at it. He had worked at La Barge Electronics, Midcom Cables and Able Manufacturing over the years.

Jay was the son of Pearl and Jack Chew; both are now in Heaven. 








He leaves behind his two sons that he dearly loved, Cole Chew and Shane Chew. Granddaughter Alivia Chew, Grandson Jackson Chew. Two sisters Ann Smith, Connie Box, Brother-in-law David Box. All of Joplin, Missouri. Lots of Nieces and Nephews.

Sister Nancy Kennedy and Brother Jackie Bob Chew were waiting for him in Heaven.

A private family celebration of life will be held in the future for Jay.

Timothy W Slaight age 64, departed this life on May 24, 2023. Tim was born to Wilford Slaight and Margaret Byrns on January 16, 1959, in Kansas City, MO.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Susan, and several angel grandbabies. 

Tim is survived by his children Travis Slaight and wife Tara of Nevada, MO, Tamara Slaight and spouse Charles of Lamar, MO, Tori Bisby and husband Chris of Oak Grove, MO, Emma Turner and husband Ty of Richmond, MO, Tiffany Slaight of Warrensburg, MO, and TJ Slaight of Florida. 







He is also survived by grandchildren Bella Smith, Lorelia Slaight, Ethan Seaton, ShyAnn Seaton, Joseph Seaton, Dawson Seaton, Bentley Blair, Christopher Bisby, Trinaty Bisby, ZoeyLou Arrington, Devote Bisby, Legacy Bisby, Loyalty Bisby, and Jaxsyn Bisby; great grandchildren Colt, Oaklynn, and three on the way; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, many friends, and his beloved dog Jello. 

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Belva “Sally” Metcalf, 78, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Wednesday May 24, 2023, in Joplin, Missouri. Sally was born September 26, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri to Ivan Wright and Willa Faye Westmoreland. Sally was a lifetime resident of Carthage. She was an administrative assistant at Boatman Bank. 

Sally was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and a Carthage Soroptimist member. She was awarded “Woman of the Year” four times. 








Sally was a member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church and also attended Grand Avenue Church of God.
Sally was united in marriage to Bradley Allen Metcalf September 29, 1962, in Carthage, Missouri; he preceded her in death December 24, 2021.

Sally is survived by her son, Timothy Metcalf (Ursula) of Joplin, Missouri; her daughter, Jeanna Faye McGatha (Dave) of Jasper, Missouri; three grandchildren, Parker Metcalf, Amanda Nash (Jonathan), and Kyle McGatha (Sasha); and five great grandchildren, Kinley, Maclin, Lilliann, Maylee, and Maddie.

Sally is preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Metcalf; her parents, Ivan and Willa Faye Wright; and her brother Bill Wright.








Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Burial will be at Dudenville Cemetery, southeast of Lamar, Missouri.

Phyllis Riddle

Phyllis L. Riddle, 93, of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday evening, May 24, 2023, at Webb City Health and Rehab, after a long illness.

Phyllis entered this life on July 9, 1929, in Stella, Missouri. She was a longtime resident of the Webb City area. She was a Nurses Aide throughout her life, working in various nursing homes as well as in home care.








She was preceded in death by her parents; and five children, Danny Riddle, Steve Riddle, Donald Riddle, Linda Merida and Vick Hopkins.

Phyllis is survived by her four children, Larry Cook of Carterville, Debbie Ledford of Webb City, Johnny Riddle of the state of Texas and Tommy Riddle of Joplin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Webb City Cemetery with Pastor Ben Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel. Debbie Joane Cook, 72 of Neosho, Missouri, passed away on May 23, 2023, at Freeman Hospital, Neosho MO.

Debbie was born September 20, 1950, in Forrest City, AR. the daughter of Steven R. Halle and Dorothy J. (Lilly) Halle. Debbie graduated from Paris Jr. College with an associate degree in biology and then received her Accredited Medical Transcriptionist Certification in Auburn, WA; and practiced as a transcriptist at Auburn General in Auburn, WA. and Sacramento Med Center in California. She also volunteered as a genealogy researcher at the LDS library in Overland Park, KS. Debbie published several books on genealogy.








She had a passion for genealogy spending many hours in libraries and on the computer researching. Debbie enjoyed collecting/selling Legos and loved reading mysteries and science fiction in her spare time. She was a social person making friends easily--and she was a very good friend.

Michael Cook and Debbie were married on April 11, 1975, in Amarillo, Texas, (renewing their vows in 2022 in Seneca, MO.). Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Victoria Rheudasil, and nephew Seth Rutherford.








Survivors include son Joseph Hallecook of Olathe KS.; 2 daughters, Lacey Cook of Neosho, MO.; Sabrina Warwick of Overland Park KS.; and a sister, Grace Rutherford of Royse City, Texas.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Tony Ramos

Marco Ramos better known as Tony, age 59, left us on April 29th, 2023 at 3:20PM at Freeman Hospital in Joplin Missouri.

Tony was born June 11, 1963 in Los Angeles California son of Evangalina and Ramon Ramos senior. He grew up in El Sereno where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He also got a college degree in telecommunications. 

He married the love of his life Joan Frances Ramos. They were together for 34 years. They lived in San Diego California for 19 years before moving to Joplin Missouri where they lived for the past 15 years. 








Tony worked in residential construction and passed before reaching retirement. He had a heart of gold and was one of the most selfless men known to all his beloved friends and family. Tony loved adventure and fantasy films and novels. His gift was his giving and forgiving heart to everyone. No matter the costs Tony put everyone's needs before his own. He was also a protector to the weak, his loyalty laid in standing up for all of those who could not stand up for themselves.

Tony’s memories will forever inspire his family. He touched multiple generations with his love, dedication and loyalty. Tony left his family with a legacy of love that will live on forever. His shoes will never be filled. Survivors include his wife and 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 4 brothers, 1 sister and several nieces and nephews.








Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26th, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

Carol Beck

Carol Ann (Mallory) Beck passed away on Thursday May 25, 2023. She was born on August 14, 1937, in Ft Scott, KS to Clyde and Ruth (Rouse) Mallory. Carol attended school in Pittsburg, KS, graduating in 1956. 

She married Lester Lyden in 1956 and was a homemaker and preacher’s wife in Pittsburg and Lawton, KS. They divorced after 14 years of marriage. She spent many years as a bookkeeper and retired from O’Sullivan Industries. After retirement she went on to work for Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Good Samaritan Shop, both in Lamar, MO.








She enjoyed traveling, going to antique car shows, and auctions with her long-time companion of 40 years, Howard Alger. She was known for her amazing French cookies that she made and gave away during the holidays each year to friends and family. She loved her family, and they loved her. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews have many stories they tell with smiles, of popcorn, daylight donuts, McDonald’s breakfasts and of joyful memories of a very large camcorder that they made many goofy videos with. She also loved her Cornerstone Church family and her neighbor and friend Beth who she prayed with each morning.

She is survived by her daughter Diana Viets of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren Amy Mason of Overland Park, KS, Lindsay (Jeremy) Deringer of Frontenac, KS and Joshua (Abigail) Lyden of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; great grandchildren Mason Deringer, Rilynn Deringer, Parker Deringer, and Levi Lyden; and step great grandchild Dimitry Taylor. She is also survived by nieces Susan (Rob) Spencer and Jeri Lynn (Scott) Beals, and many great nieces and nephews.








She is preceded in death by her parents, son Gary Wayne Lyden, sister Delores Gross, and brother Jerry Mallory.

Rebecca (Pearson) Curry was born August 23, 1964 in Webb City, Missouri, one of two daughters to Gene and Phyllis (Beck) Pearson. She entered into rest on May 25, 2023 at the age of 58. 

Rebecca was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from East Newton High School and Crowder College with an Associates degree. She worked at La-Z-Boy Midwest in the sewing department and at Turn Around Ranch in Joplin. 








Becky was an avid reader, enjoyed playing games on her tablet and she collected 'Cherish Teddies'. 

Becky is survived by two sons, Dusty (Stephanie) Curry of Reeds, Missouri and Tyler (Jennifer Gatlan) Curry of Neosho; one sister, Libby Richardson of Granby; grandchildren, Darren, Avery, Ryder, Maximus and Macklin; niece, Kandace Morrison; nephew, Logan Morrison; uncle, Ed (Carolyn) Beck of Greenfield, Missouri and aunt, Debrah Peinado of Wichita, Kansas. 








She is preceded in death by her parents.
