(From Daniel Funeral Home)Iola Jane French, age 76, of Joplin, Missouri passed away May 13, 2023, at The Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin, MO.
Iola was born October 15, 1946 in Ruthven, Iowa to Tom L. Hanna and Rosina Belle "Mickey" (Perry) Hanna. On November 28, 1975 Iola married Jon Eldon French in Miami, Oklahoma.
Iola graduated from MSSU with her Bachelor's Degree in accounting and worked as a certified public accountant for Nick Myers, CPA; Edward August, CPA. She also worked at Burl Garvin Realty before going back to school for accounting. Iola was a member of the Missouri State Republican Committee. She loved to paint and decorate cakes.
Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, Tom L. Hanna and wife Adrienne of Houston, Texas, and Troy French of Joplin, MO; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Teri Hanna of Jasper, Missouri and Chris Hanna of Lamar, MO; one brother, Roy Hanna of Joplin, MO; and two brothers-in-law, Kenny Griffitt of Jasper, MO., and Mick Calhoun of Rockford, Illinois.
Iola was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Pat Pennell and Arlene Calhoun.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lake Cemetery in Lamar, MO.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Special Olympics or the Bill and Virginia Leffen Center for Autism in care of the funeral home.
