Mary Ellen Stinson, age 68, a resident of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.
She was born July 14, 1948 in Parsons, Kansas daughter of the late Charles Thiebaud and Margaret Brooker Thiebaud.
Mary worked as a claims processor for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arkansas and New Mexico and for the Small Business Bureau in Connecticut.
She married Robert Stinson on April 10, 1971 in Parsons, Kansas, he survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jill McKnight and her husband, Carl, of Johnson City, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Bishop and Claudia McKnight; a brother, Alan Thiebaud and his wife, Marianna, of Dallas, Texas; and a sister, Gerre Koger and her husband, Ron, of Atlanta, Georgia.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Myrtle Annaetta Merl, age 81 a resident of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
She was born August 8, 1935 in Carthage, Missouri to the late Paul Ketron and Bessie Barker Ketron.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Ketron; and a sister, Thelma Gordon.
Myrtle worked as a line cook at the R and M Restaurant, Holiday Inn and Jim Bob's Steak and Ribs.
Survivors include two sons, Timothy Merl and his wife, Diana, of Joplin, Missouri, and Rick Merl, Nevada; two daughters, Linda Burkhart and her husband, J.R., Joplin, Missouri, and Brenda Casey,Kirkwood, Missouri; three sisters, Marjorie Long, Vera Wormington and Wilma Long; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Carterville Park.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

David Crunkleton
David Ray Crunkleton, age 72 of Joplin, passed away at his home at 9:53 AM on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. He had lived in the four-state area for 24 years.
David was born in Van Buren, MO on June 5, 1944. He graduated from Van Buren High School before enlisting in the Military. He served his country from 1965-1967. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, a Hero, and a Proud American. During his time in the service, he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, two medals for his skills as an expert rifleman, and a positive good conduct medal.
Upon returning to the states, he began working as a truck driver, driving for several freight companies including Big John’s Equipment of Joplin. He was a member of the Faith Holiness Church of Joplin. During his free time, he enjoyed music, especially playing piano and guitar and singing along.
David married Ada Ruth Crunkleton on October 17, 1993 in Greenwood, MO. She preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Benny Crunkleton and Mary (Carter) Crunkleton; two step-sons, David Taylor and Cecil Taylor; one brother, Richard Crunkleton; and one sister, Ollie Mae Crunkleton.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Friend (husband, Mike) of Seneca, MO; three step-children, Ed Taylor (wife, Paula) of Joplin, Marilyn Stewart (husband, Wayne) of Purcell, MO, and Glenda Crouch of Joplin; two brothers, Joy Crunkleton of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Jerry Crunkleton of St. Louis, MO; three sisters, Linda Critchfield and Allie Crunkleton, both of Van Buren, MO, and Alice Crunkleton of St. Louis, MO; as well as 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Pearl Marie (Lacy) Rhoades, age 93 of Joplin, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Pittsburg Care and Rehabilitation.
Pearl was born in Yale, Oklahoma on April 20, 1924 to the union of John C. Lacy and Prudy M. (Pence) Lacy. She married Earl B. Rhoades in Carson City, NV on December 23, 1939.
Pearl worked as a manufacturing supervisor at a garment factory, and was also the warehouse manager at the Baxter Springs Walmart when it first opened. She formerly attended the First Assembly of God in Baxter Springs where she was a Sunday School Teacher, and was currently a member at the Galena Assembly of God. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting, and painting, particularly oil paintings. She had lived in the four-state area for most of her life, moving here from Brentwood, CA in 1950.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, John and Prudy Lacy, her husband, Earl Rhoades, five brothers, four sisters, one infant sister, one grand daughter, Kerry Lynn, one grandson, Robert Earl, and one infant grandson, Kelly Merle.
Survivors include one son, John Rhoades (wife, Debby) of Joplin; two daughters, Peggy Anderson (husband, C.J.) of Welch, Oklahoma, and Juanita Gaines of Joplin; one sister, Delores Moorehead (husband, Wayne) of Martinez, CA; six grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Brent Erwin
Brent Alan Erwin, 64, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his home.
Brent was born February 17, 1953 in Carthage, MO to Paul and Josephine Erwin. He “enjoyed” the guidance of four older sisters and the produce from the largest garden in Carthage.
He attended Carthage schools and was a proud member of the Class of 1971. He was a class officer and befriended all classmates. Brent worked in the construction industry many years as a union member. Circa 1999, he opened a trail riding business at his ranch east of Carthage. Known as Medicine Hat Trading Co., it became a nonprofit company providing horse riding therapy to special needs children and adults. Working mostly alone, he lived to help his clients, and would work 7 days a week.
Another passion of Brent’s was helping others with substance abuse problems. He was active in AA and NA and was a gifted speaker at events throughout the Four State area.
Brent’s other interests included collecting Native American Art, playing his flute, tennis, and annual trips to Mexico. A lover of animals, no Maple Leaf Parade was complete without Brent and his beloved horse Dr. Speck at its end.
Brent is survived by sisters, Joan Chittenden, Seneca, SC, Linda Erwin Abel, Kansas City, MO, and Mary Beacham, Carpinteria, CA. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Erwin, and one sister, Pauline Tullis.

Roy Slates
Roy A. Slates, 63, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, May 20, at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar. Roy was born March 19, 1954, in Carthage, to Glen “Gilbert” and Wilma G. (Dickerson) Slates. After Glen’s tragic death in 1956, Wilma married Gene Lathrop who became the loving father to Roy and his siblings.
Roy grew up in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School with the Class of 1972. Roy owned and operated Slates Construction for many years. He later entered into business with his son, Reed, and worked for several years in North Dakota before retiring in 2015. He had a love for motorcycles and fast boats. Roy also enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh, but he especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include one son Reed Slates and Lindy, and his son Xavier, Nevada; one daughter, Jill Spencer and her husband, Travis, and their son Nolan, Edna, Kan.; two sisters, Glenna Reaves and her husband, Jerry, Sheldon, and Carla Jett and her husband, Dennis, Sheldon. Roy is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and his many friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 26, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Richard Carpenter officiating. A committal service will follow in the Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Etta Belle Pendergraft
Etta Belle Pendergraft went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 29, 2017, surrounded by her family.
She was a homemaker, mother, wife, and precious friend to many. She attended Salem Country Church, Red Oak II, in Carthage, Missouri. Etta Belle was born on December 23, 1930 to Lloyd and Opal (Lough) Mason in Medoc, Missouri. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister and two brothers.
She married Eldon Pendergraft on July 20, 1947 and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2012 after 64 ½ years of marriage. Surviving are a son Marvin Pendergraft and wife Lana of Chanute, Kansas, a daughter Jane Clark and husband Don of Stark City a son Jerry Pendergraft and wife Bonnie of Springfield, Missouri and a brother Harold Mason of Nashville, Missouri. Etta Belle has 11 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City with Tim Darch officiating. The family will be present for visitation on Thursday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to the time of the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Harold Moore
Harold M. 'Tootie' Moore, Jr., age 66, Seneca, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 at Freeman Hospital after an illness.
Harold was born July 28, 1950 in Joplin to the late Harold Martin Moore, Sr. and Elva Easley Moore and had lived in the area all of his life.
He started out working with Bobby G. Hinshaw at ABC Ambulance Company. He then started working in the dump truck industry and also worked as a bouncer at the Paint Stallion. Harold was an avid fisherman and loved to take long rides on his Harley. He never met a stranger, loved his family and will be missed by his six fur babies.
He married Christina Steers on April 22, 1984 in Carthage. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include his children, Kendra Moore, Joplin, Rene Consier and husband, Rodney, Joplin, Justin Johnson, Joplin, Darla Southard and husband, Brian, Prosperity, Harold Moore III 'Marty' and wife, Amber, Seneca; one brother, Lee Roy Moore and wife, Sherrey, Joplin; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Hagemeier and a brother, Darral Moore.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society.

David O'Dell
David G. O’Dell, age 65 of Neosho, Mo., passed away on Sunday May 28, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, following an illness.
David was born on April 1, 1952 in Prathersville, Mo., the son of the late Cletus and Juanita (Jones) O’Dell. He has been a resident of Neosho since 2010. He owned and operated Hard Luck Hardwoods until he retired in 2013. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves.
He married Dena Carroll on April 2, 2010 in Joplin and she survives. Additional survivors include one son, David G. O’Dell, II and his wife Chelsey, Joplin; one step-son, Sammy Schneck, St. Joseph, Mo.; one step-daughter Shawna Ernest, Carthage, Mo.; one brother Dennis O’Dell and wife Debbie, Kansas City, Ks.; and two grandsons, Noey and Trysten. David was proceeded in death by his brother Dannie O’Dell and a step son Skyler Ernest.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Bobby Leachman will officiate. The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. Saturday prior services.

Coleen Perry
Coleen M. Perry, age 82, a resident of Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, passed away on Monday May 29, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, following a long illness.
Coleen was born on April 11, 1935 in Neodesha, Ks. the daughter of the late Ernest and Dortha (Williams) Holstine. She married Clayton VanMeter on August 5, 1954 together they had two sons. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting.
She married Blackie Perry and he preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Van Meter, and one grandson Hutch Flippo.
She is survived by one son, Norman VanMeter and wife Billie, Joplin; three grandchildren, J.B. Flippo, Crystal VanMeter-Davis, and Kyle VanMeter; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery open air pavilion. Reverend Jarel Burnside will officiate.
Linda Burkhart
Linda May Burkhart, age 64, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Linda was born February 22, 1953 in Webb City, Missouri, daughter of the late John Gordon and Myrtle Ketron Gordon Merl. Linda grew up and attended school in Webb City, and later Joplin where she graduated from Memorial High School. She worked as a nurse's aide for Greenbriar Nursing home, and later Oak Hill Hospital. She was a devoted wife, and mother, who was active with all her children's activities. She was a longtime PTO mother with the Joplin Schools. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Burkhart.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Wallace "Jr." Burkhart; sons, Paul Burkhart and wife Stacy of Galena, Kansas, John Burkhart and wife Cheryl of Joplin, and Tom Burkhart of Galena; daughter, Jennifer Moore and husband Daniel of Joplin; grandchildren, Madison Burkhart, Caleb Burkhart, Casey Burkhart, Johnathan Burkhart Louis "Adam" Burkhart, Jared Burkhart, Rene' Burkhart, Zach Burkhart, Nickolas Hoffman, and Ashley Hoffman; sister, Brenda Casey of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers, Rick Merl of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tim Merl of Carterville, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 2;00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Randy Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Dennis Lee Curran, age 57, of Joplin, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at his home.
Dennis was born in Joplin, Missouri, March 30, 1960 to Helen Howerton Curran and the late Donald C. Curran.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol (Jeannie) Hinkley.
He worked as a brick mason for various construction companies his entire life.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Curran, Joplin, Missouri; two sons, Jessie Sutton, Joplin, and Jacobe Curran, Arkansas City, Kansas; four daughters, Kelsey Lamb, Cassie Rowland, Shani Sutton, all of Joplin, and Lindsay (Curran) Watson, of Ohio; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Troy Curran, Racine, and Wesley Curran, Joplin; and a sister, Donna (Peterson) Taylor, of Joplin.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Saginaw Cemetery on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 6-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Norma Lee Chambers, 83, of Monett went to be with her Lord in Heaven on Monday May 29, 2017 while staying at Lacoba Homes in Monett. She was born on June 7, 1933 in Three Sands, Oklahoma; the daughter of the late Walter R and Edith (Davis) McPherson. She was united in marriage to Don Hall; to this union she was blessed with three children, later she was united in marriage to Jay Chambers, he preceded her in death on October 14, 2010.
She was retired from Tyson’s in Monett, Missouri.
Norma is survived by one son: Galen Hall of Monett; two daughters: Rowena Spears of Monett and Regina Streeter of Stark City, Missouri; one step-son: Richard Chambers of Mt. Vernon; two step-daughters: Janet Thompson of Springfield and Denise Richards of Cape Fair, Missouri; one sister: Helen Hickle of Ellinwood, Kansas; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Edith, first husband Don on February 2, 2002, second husband Jay, one granddaughter Dawn Spears and one great-grandson Colton.

Allan Hamilton
Allan Ray Hamilton of Miami, OK passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home. He was 62.
Allan was born May 11, 1955 in Oklahoma City, OK to Roy Dean and Evie Pearl (Sprinkle) Hamilton. He had lived in Miami most of his life. He served in the United States Army as a Registered Nurse and was a medical and clinical specialist. He had worked at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami for a number of years and was administrative director of Regency Hospice and was administrator of several nursing homes. He also worked for several years at Willow Crest Hospital as head of nursing and was a hospice nurse for the area before retiring. Allan was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Miami, OK.
His talents included but were not limited to cooking, baking and floral design. He loved the great outdoors and living life to it’s fullest.
He married Laura Louise Hamilton November 20, 1976 in Fayetteville, N.C., she preceded him in death January 8, 2006. He was also preceded by a son Dixon Neiberger, his parents and his sister Linda Kay Waldon,
Survivors include his son Paul Neiberger and wife Michelle of Miami, OK, 3 daughters, Pam Prater – Compton and husband Jerry of Joplin, MO, Deborah Peters of Tulsa, OK and Terri Covington of Haskell, OK, a daughter in law Claudia Neiberger of Miami, OK, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and his nephew Ron Journagan and his niece Christi Reed.

Butch Struncius
Mr. Henry Charles Struncius “Butch”, 69, of Anderson, Missouri went home to be with Jesus, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his home after an illness.
Butch entered this life on March 10, 1948, in Kingman, Indiana to the late Henry C. and Nettie (Schefke) Struncius. Butch faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a construction worker most of his life but occasionally cut and split wood to make ends meet. Butch enjoyed fishing but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Butch was preceded in death by his father and mother; Henry and Nettie, his sister Pam Spickler and her husband Burton as well as his younger brother; Michael Lee McCullar.

Martha Christina Spain, age 84, of Aurora, MO, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 while at Cox South in Springfield, MO.
Martha was born on December 4, 1932 in Blue Eye, MO, daughter of the late Louis and Ella Mae (Powell) Killman. She retired from Tyson Foods in Monett where she made many friends. Martha enjoyed reading, quilting and listening to music. She was a member of the New Dawn Pentecostal Church in Aurora, MO.

Vernon, MO; fifteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Roberts, of Neosho, MO and a special friend, Cheryl Spain, of Monett.

Martha was born on December 4, 1932 in Blue Eye, MO, daughter of the late Louis and Ella Mae (Powell) Killman. She retired from Tyson Foods in Monett where she made many friends. Martha enjoyed reading, quilting and listening to music. She was a member of the New Dawn Pentecostal Church in Aurora, MO.

Billie Holcomb Leader, 85, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest at 9:42 pm, May 25, 2017 at her home Holcombs Century Farm in rural Seneca after a illness.
Billie Lucille Holcomb was born May 27, 1931 in rural Seneca the daughter of Virgil R. and
Georgie Lucille (Huchinson) Holcomb. Billie was a graduate of Seneca High School. She formerly worked as the City Clerk for Seneca and formerly co-owned and operated Herb's Wheel Horse. She was a member of the Seneca Christian Church. Billie loved canning, cooking, teaching Sunday School, flowers and her dog Lola. Billie never meet a stranger she always had a smile on her face and always said we are “always moving forward”.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband’s Leonard L. Leader and Herbert Griffith and her parents Virgil and Georgia Holcomb.
Survivors include one son, Larry Leader, Seneca. MO; two daughters, Sue Mailes, Neosho, MO and Jeanie Leader, Broken Arrow, OK; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Claudine Builta
Claudene Builta, 79, Neosho, entered into rest on May 26, 2017 at Medicalodge Neosho after several months’ illness.
Claudene was born May 6, 1938 in Neosho, MO, the daughter of Claude and Gladys (Wyatt) Richards. Claudene grow up in Neosho, lived in Kansas for many years and moved back to Neosho after her retirement.
She worked as a cook for Nursing Homes, Schools and Hospitals. Claudene was a devout Christian.
Claudene married George Gary Builta, Sr. and he precedes her in death on May 13, 2007. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Builta and wife, Cheryl of Wellington, Kansas and Gary Builta, Jr. and wife Christine of Neosho and one daughter, Dianna Luznicky and husband Howard, of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Two sisters, Joyce Rose and husband Bob of Neosho, and Eva Morrison and husband Gary of Neosho, fourteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by two sons, Kenny Builta and Michael Lee Builta, and one sister, Barbara Wallace.
Services will be held on Wed, May 31, 2017 at 10:00 am, Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Rev. Mark Kirby will officiate. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, south of Neosho. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Bill Johnson
Bill E. Johnson, age 80 of Neosho, entered into rest on May 24, 2017 at Medicalodge in Neosho, following a short illness.
Bill was born July 29, 1936 in Neosho, the son of Charley and Bessie (Clark) Johnson. He was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1954. He served in the Missouri National Guard and Army Reserves, 1954-1965. He worked at Pet Milk in Production and retired in 1985 after 31 years. Following his retirement from Pet Milk, he worked at Joplin Building Materials until 1999. His passions included his family and supporting the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid sportsman, and softball and tennis were among his best sports, winning two city championships in tennis.
Bill and Elsie Pearl Franklin were married on Feb. 26, 1972 in Neosho and she preceded him in death on October 20, 2014. He is survived by three sons, Jerry Johnson and wife, Donna of Pea Ridge, AR; Jimmy Johnson of Panama City, FL and Mark Johnson and wife, Kelly of Joplin; two brothers, David Johnson and wife, Sharon of Springfield and Harold Johnson and wife, Sara of Collinsville, OK; one sister, Barbara Rice of Neosho and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ross and husband, T. Ted Eberhard
Ted L. Eberhard, 89, of Columbus, passed away May 20, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born September 30, 1927 in Beaumont, TX the son of Oliver (Sam) and Zelpha (Jones) Eberhard.
He married Mary J. Cole in 1949 at First Methodist Church in Joplin, MO.
Ted was a manager at the Stock Yard Feed in Joplin, MO and a sales manager at Ragland Mills, Neosho, MO, he retired from both jobs. He served in the Navy, and was stationed on the U.S.S Curtis Ship.
He pitched baseball for the Yankee organization and the Former Joplin Miners in 1948. Ted enjoyed training bird dogs, hunting, fishing, coaching American Legion Baseball, mowing grass, growing tomatoes and sharing them with many friends and family.
One of his greatest accomplishments was coaching American Legion Baseball and out of all his coaching 40+ ball players received college scholarships or signed professional.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, one son Joe Eberhard of Fort Smith, AR, one daughter Melinda (Carl) Helwig of Rural Columbus, KS, 2 grandchildren, Chris (Lucinda) Eberhard of Greenwood, AR, Katie (Jim) Battreal of Little Rock, AR, 4 great-grandchildren, Landon and Maddie Kate Battreal, Bo Eberhard, and Hunter White.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Floyd Eberhard, one sister Twyla Hughes.
Memorial services will be 3 pm Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Royal Heights United Methodist Church, 1612 Euclid Ave, Joplin, MO 64801 with Rev. Gary Thomas, officiating. Inurnment will be at the Edgmand Cemetery in Cherokee County, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 2 p.m.

Eula Hall
Eula Mae (Hatman) Hall was born August 7th 1930 in Salem Ark., the daughter of George and Lottie (Mooney) Hatman. She departed this life Sunday, May 21st 2017 in Joplin, Missouri.
On May 28th 1949 she was united in marriage to Lester Hall in Salem Ark.
Eula worked at Sears in Kansas City before moving to Joplin. She loved working in her beautiful home and flower gardens.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; an infant son, Bobby Wayne; two brothers, Cleo and Russell Hatman; and three sisters, Retha Frisby, Wanda Moss, and Pat Sherrell.
Eula is survived by one son, Roger Hall and wife Shellie, Jacksonville Florida; two grandchildren, Elysia and Jeremy; one brother Junior Hatman of Harrisonville, Missouri; nephews, nieces, and many friends who loved her very much.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Burks Chapel Cemetery in Hart, Arkansas.

Charles “Shorty” Fitzjohn, 86, Formerly of Racine, MO passed away May 23, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after an illness.
Charles R. Fitzjohn was born July 30, 1930 in Newton County, MO the son of James and Gladys (Higginbotham) Fitzjohn. Charles served his country in the United States Army. He formerly worked as a mechanic at McDonald Douglas in Tulsa and was a farmer.
Charles R. Fitzjohn married Corrine (Kitty) Fetter August 5, 1960 in Litttleton, CO and she preceded him in death in November of 2008.
Survivors include one brother, Gordon Fitzjohn, Wichita, KS and several nieces and nephews.

Bob Larson
Robert ‘Bob’ Larson, age 68 of Neosho, entered into rest on May 19, 2017 at his home in Neosho, following an illness.
Robert was born April 10, 1949 in Tulsa, OK, the son of Loyal and Margie (Ketchum) Larson. He retired from Cardinal Scale as a machine tool mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and the outdoors. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.
Robert and Donna (Senneker) Larson were married on Oct. 16, 1971 at Denver, CO and she survives. Additional survivors include four children, Michael Larson of Neohso; Kevin Larson and wife, Jill of Neosho and Alan Larson and wife, Cindy of Neosho and Joey Larson of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Marilyn Sarratt and Sandy Jordan, both of Neosho; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Faith Baptist Church, Neosho, MO. Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Frank Ward will officiate.

Thad Leach
Riley Thad "T Bone" Leach, age 94, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Joplin Gardens.
Thad was born on March 13, 1923 in Joplin, son of the late Harley Leach and Mable Jobe Leach. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1942, and served in the United States Army during World War II, where he was stationed in the Philippines. He was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Thad was a well known baseball player in this area, having signed a professional contract with the Boston Red Sox, and he also played for the late Joe Becker. He played on the first Sunny Jim team that played at Gabby Field.
He worked for Texaco Oil for over 30 years in their sales department, living in the Kansas City area. After retirement, he returned to Joplin where he enjoyed playing golf, and was a member of the Joplin Golf Club. He was also a member of Community Chapel Church of Joplin.
He married Betty L Mosbaugh on July 3, 1948 in Joplin, she preceded him in death on October 24, 2005, after 57 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Leach, Buck Leach, Bill Leach, and a sister, Leona Miller.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Carl Junction Cemetery with full military honors.

Wilbur Largent
Wilbur Eugene Largent was born on August 22, 1926, in Strasburg, Illinois. Wilbur grew up in Southern Illinois attending several different schools due to his father’s sales routes, actually attending eight different schools during his eighth grade experience! Wilbur graduated from Effingham High School in 1945. Wilbur met Mildred Largent and they married in August, 1947 at First Baptist Church in Effingham, Illinois. Wilbur and Mildred were married for sixty-nine years.
Wilbur and Mildred lived in Springfield during their early marriage and were instrumental in developing the Springfield Baptist Church where they were charter members.
Wilbur was a veteran of World War II. After his discharge, he was hired under a veterans program with the Illinois State Architect’s Office as a draftsman. Wilbur began his professional career as an Electrical Engineer under the State Architects professional guidance. After a few years, Wilbur sought new opportunity for his growing family and enlisted a St. Louis employment company to find him a job “somewhere” and that “somewhere” ended up in Dallas, Texas.
Wilbur began specializing in large commercial electrical design plans with several well-known design firms. Wilbur was a key factor in the development of the First National Bank building which, at that time, was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River, the GM assembly plant in Oklahoma City, Dallas City Hall, and Dallas’s first “Hollywood” studio where the movie Silkwood was produced as well as overseas projects. For six months, he lived in Paris while designing the electrical system for a hospital for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Wilbur’s last foray into electrical design was a nationwide remodeling of the Black Eye Pea restaurants. Wilbur was President of the North Texas Illuminating Society and won several awards for lighting design. Wilbur also owned and operated an Insurance agency and served as an independent electrical systems consultant for many years. Wilbur was an active Deacon in his church and he enjoyed serving as a Scoutmaster for the Circle Ten Council in Dallas. He was past President of the White Rock Kiwanis Club in Dallas. In Joplin, Wilbur was active in supporting Forest park Baptist Church’s mission programs and served on various building committees. He served as town treasurer for Loma Linda, Missouri. During his retirement years in Joplin, Wilbur enjoyed cars, fishing, genealogy and was a self-proclaimed “news junkie”.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Largent, his sister, Norma Jean Suiter. He is survived by his son, George W. Largent and wife Mary of Joplin; his daughter, Carolyn M. Dickinson and husband Alan of El Dorado, AR; three grandchildren, Lanell Huffman and husband Howdy of Campo, CO; John Dickinson and wife Karen of San Francisco, CA; Lydia Norvell and husband Jon of Bull Shoals, AR. Eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandsons and one great-great granddaughter.
Monetary gifts rather than flowers may be given to missions at Forest Park Baptist Church.

Barbara J. Tatum, 77, Carthage, MO, passed away early Monday morning, May 22, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO. Barbara Jean Cearnal was born July 3, 1939 in Lamar, MO to the late Paul Cearnal and Maxine (White) Cearnal. She graduated from Golden City High School, Class of 1957. Barbara married Robert Eugene Tatum on April 12, 1975 in Morgan Heights, MO; he preceded her in death on December 27, 2014. She worked at Schreiber Foods in Carthage for 26 years. Barbara was a member of the Dudenville Methodist Church, Dudenville, MO.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Comer (husband Mark), Joplin, MO; one son, Michael Tatum (wife Michelle), Carterville, MO; four stepchildren; one sister, Vickie Troutman (husband Don), Alba, MO; and four grandchildren, Riley Comer, Gabby Tatum, Savanah Tatum, and Xander Tatum.

Max Leroy Clevenger, age 57, passed away Monday morning, May 22, 2017 at his home following an illness.
Mr Clevenger was born March 11, 1960 in Joplin, MO His parents were Virgil Leroy and Shirley Marie (Williams) Clevenger. He was a lifetime resident of Joplin.
He worked with his father operating Clevenger and Son Tire Company, Joplin, MO and later in Galena, KS. His favorite pastime was fishing and going to the casino.
He is survived by one son, Max L Clevenger Jr, Joplin; one daughter, Augusta Clevenger, Joplin; his father, Virgil Leroy Clevenger, Grove, OK; one sister, Terrie Clevenger, Lamar, MO; three grandchildren, Payton Clevenger, Levi Russell and Danielle Russell; and 3 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and one brother, Virgin Leon Clevenger.

Diana Stapleton
Diana Carol Stapleton, age 80 of Webb City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Grove, Oklahoma.
She was born on July 28, 1936 in Webb City to Paul Harris and Lillie (Pratt) Harris. Diana was a Webb City High School graduate, worked at Mount Hope Cemetery, Emmanuel Baptist Church, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She married Walt Stapleton on September 14, 1952 in Webb City and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2003. She is survived by her sons, Steven Stapleton and wife Ronda of Carthage, Tony Stapleton and wife Jean of Grove, Oklahoma, Sean Stapleton and wife Lucretia of Springfield; a daughter, Michelle Shaw of Neosho; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Many memories were made and many memories were shared, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family will have a celebration of life service at a later date. She will be buried along with her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City.

Lois Wells
Lois J. Wells, 68, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Freeman Hospital. Lois was born April 11, 1949 in New Ulm, Minnesota to Kenneth Wayne Isenberg and Margaret “Thompson” Isenberg.
Lois was united in marriage to Vernon Wells on September 18, 1971 in Pleasant Grove Minnesota; they were married for 47 years. Early in their marriage, she attended Minnesota Bible College for four years.
Lois and her husband lived in various places during their time in the ministry. For the past few years they have lived in Carthage, where Lois worked for over ten years as a logistics supervisor for Leggett & Platt Trucking. Lois was a member of the Oswego Christian Church in Oswego, Kansas.
Lois is survived by her husband, her son Rusty Wells of Carthage, one brother Wayne Isenberg and wife Jo Ellen of Spring Valley, Minnesota and one sister Joanie Jacobs and husband Jim of Woodbury, Minnesota. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mickey Mitchell
Chester “Mickey” Mitchell, 73, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home. Mickey was born May 31, 1943 in Carthage to Chester Ora Mitchell and Lillie Frances “Pennington” Mitchell. He was raised in Carthage and was a resident for the past eight years. Mickey was a self-employed real estate investor, a veteran of the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW Carthage Post #2590.
Mickey was united in marriage to Shahtaj Rafiee on April 5, 1979 in London, England; she survives.
Mickey is also survived by one son, Michael Mitchell.

Louis H. ‘Sonny’ Akin, age 80 of Columbus, Kansas, formerly of Neosho, MO area, died on May 21, 2017 at Riverton, Kansas, following a sudden illness.
Louis H. ‘Sonny’ Akin, age 80 of Columbus, Kansas, formerly of Neosho, MO area, died on May 21, 2017 at Riverton, Kansas, following a sudden illness.
Louis was born July 11, 1936 at Pioneer, MO, the son of Louis H. Akin, Sr. and Lois Stark Akin. He was a lifelong area resident and was an independent truck driver. He enjoyed participating in tractor pulls with his sons and was a bee keeper as a hobby. He was a member of the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church.
Louis married Joyce Dean Haynes on Sept. 6, 1957 in Wheaton and she preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 2011. He then married Jeri L. (Garner) Andrews on March 1, 2013 and she survives. Additional survivors include children, Mark Akin and wife, Candy of Neosho and Darren Akin and wife, Christy of Rankin, TX; Dustin Andrews and wife, Amy; Beth Andrews and Jerod Andrews and wife, Rhanda, all of Baxter Springs, KS; two sisters, Joan Haynes of Wheaton and Barbara Laird and husband, Stan of Bella Vista, AR; grandchildren, Miranda White and husband, Cody; Kelsey Akin, Erin Schmitz and husband, Jacob, Amber Akin, Garret Avalos and wife, Melissa; Hailey Avalos, Elijah Andrews, Madison Andrews and Mia Andrews and great grandchildren, Easton White, Camden Schmitz, Graham Schmitz, Jayce Norwood, Elias White and Brinlynn Mesa.

Mary Pugh
Mary Louise Pugh of Miami, OK passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, she was 88.
Mary was born April 8, 1929 in Jasper County, MO to Ora and Lettie (Turpin) Harry. She had lived in Miami since 1957. She graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1947 and had worked at Citizens Bank of Carl Junction, MO for 9 years and for McDonalds in Miami and was a volunteer at Integris Miami Hospital. She was a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church in Miami, OK.
Mary was preceded in death by her son Charles Dale Pugh in 2014 and a grandson Daniel Pugh, her parents and a brother Cecil Harry.
Mary married Delmar Pugh July 20, 1956 and he survives of the home. Additional survivors include her son Bradley K. Pugh and wife Kristine of Broughton, IL and her daughter Julie Louise Mustain and husband Rex of Overland Park, KS, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Southern Hills Baptist Church in Miami, OK. Rev. Herb Young will officiate. Interment will be in Nashville Cemetery in Barton County, MO. Pallbearers will be Rex Mustain, Ryan Mustain, Chris Pugh, Kyle Pugh, Mike Lillie and Hunter Walton. Arlena Painter
Arlena Painter, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at her home in Anderson, Missouri with her loving companion Joseph Tierno by her side. Arlena was born on July 11, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois to James Allen and Clarice Katherine (Russell) Painter and was the eldest of six children. She was raised in McDonald County, and graduated from Pineville High School in 1945. After graduation she moved to Rockford, Illinois and then Simi Valley, California, before returning to McDonald County in 1972. Arlena’s work ethic began as a youth in her uncle’s strawberry fields and stayed with her during her careers with Litton Industries and Hudson Foods, among other business endeavors.
Arlena was a devout member of the Episcopal faith. She enjoyed genealogy, crocheting, quilting, and spending time with family. She was a member of the DAR in Neosho, Missouri, as well as the Bunker Hill Quilt Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Charles Painter; sisters Mary Jane Painter, Louise Rasmussen, and Juanita Dobbs; son Roger VanSickle; daughter Bethesda Tilden; and grandson Brian Denny. She is survived by one brother, Russell Painter, and wife, Louise, of Winnebago, IL; three daughters: Deborah Richardson of Frazier Park, CA; Marcia Denny of Anderson, MO; and Glenda Sellers and Husband, John, of Anderson, MO; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Richard Barth
Richard Dean Barth, 81 years, of Noel, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at his residence in Noel, Missouri, with his loving family by his side.
Richard was born on January 22, 1936 at Peru, Kansas to the late Charles Wesley and Mae (Whited) Barth. He grew up in the Noel area and attended the Noel School. Richard joined the Army in 1954 serving in Germany where he met and married his wife, Barbara on February 18, 1957. Following the military, he worked construction, also a mechanic, drove a gasoline transport truck, owned the Lone Wolf service station, was a police officer in Noel, worked security at Hudson Foods and Simmons, retiring from Simmons in 1994. Richard was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church in Noel, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas Barth, David Barth and Bob Barth; a sister, Margaret Blakemore.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Barth; a son, Richard David Barth of Noel, Missouri, a daughter, Shirley Anne Armstrong of Noel, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jamie Judy, Kenneth Armstrong, Kyle Armstrong; a great grandchild, Tanner Lee Rowe; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Richard.
Funeral services for Richard Barth will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Pastor Marilyn O'Brien will officiate. Warren Grove
Warren Allen Grove, Jr., age 67, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Warren was born April 5, 1950 in Colby, Kansas, to Warren Sr. and Elizabeth (Ward) Grove. Early in Warren’s life, his father died and he was raised by his stepfather, Charles W. Ward. After graduating from Fairmont High School, Warren entered the U.S. Navy, serving three tours in Vietnam as a First Gunnermate. His working career utilized a wide variety of his talents and interests from nursing to fiber optic cable installation for Ryle Construction. In Lamar, he will be remembered for the excellent mechanic and tire service he did while working at 71 Tire and Carnahan Tire.
Warren and his soulmate of 30 years, Precious Sarah Ritter, created a home filled with love, children, laughter, and many entertaining pets. In addition to Precious, he leaves their clan – Victoria & Randy Morrison and Michelle & Curtis Cox of Kansas City, Kansas, David & Lisa Williams, Kathy & Shae Conaway, Portage, Indiana, Patricia & Mark Miller of Michigan, Carl & Amy Ruth, Brian & Tausha Ruth and Chris Ruth all of Lamar, Vicki Lynn & Billy Elder, Golden City, Trish Stump, Rusk, Texas, Tamera Ruth & T.J. Barnes, Stockton, and Christina Ruth, Lamar. He will be greatly missed by numerous grandkids; many great-grandkids; nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Junior & Peggy, Kansas City, Donnie Sparks, Texas, and Homer Sparks, Lamar.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; a brother killed in Vietnam, Steven Grove; a daughter, Diane West; and a son, Doug Williams.

Loren Morey
Loren E. Morey, age 82, of rural Lamar, passed Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home after a short illness.
Loren was born November 29, 1934 in Lamar, Missouri to George A. and Edna (Millard) Morey. He graduated Lamar High School and then served his country in the United States Army. On December 11, 1960, he married Ellen Jo Chapman in Milford, Missouri and together they raised two sons. He was a member of Milford Christian Church and was a livestock and crop farmer. Loren loved to ride horses with his grandchildren, and take them for a ride on his team of horses & wagon. Watching his grandchildren play ball also brought a lot of joy to his life.
Loren is survived by his wife of 56 years; two sons and their wives, Kevin & Shari Morey of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Kent and Melissa Morey of Lamar, Missouri; six grandchildren, Erica, Erin, Eriel, Garrett, Kara, and Brenna; one brother, Earl & Susan Morey, Gainesville, Florida; three sisters, Reba Fanning, Lamar, Gloria & Bud McCulley, Lamar and Pauline & Herman Blankenship, Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice Rall and Maxine Obert.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Milford Christian Church with Randy Garriss officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Hermy Passley
Herman Eugene “Hermy” Passley Jr., age 57 of Webb City, Missouri passed away Thursday May 18, 2017 following an illness.
He was born September 23, 1959 in Webb City, Missouri to Herman and Jo Ann (Dart) Passley.
Hermy worked for Tamko Building Products for 25 years and then for the City of Webb City Missouri Public Works Department. He was a member of the Webb City High School class of 1977. While in school he was a member of the wrestling squad and the football team. He was a supporter of youth sports and very involved with the youth baseball and wrestling teams. He was member of the Webb City Elk’s Lodge #861 for over 30 years. Hermy was a sports memorabilia collector and a huge Kansas City Royals baseball fan.
He married Robin Sidenstricker on November 5, 1976.
Hermy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Robin; two sons, Travis Passley and wife Gretchen, Carterville, Missouri, Drew Passley and wife Lori, Brookfield, Missouri; parents Herman and Jo Ann Passley, Oronogo, Missouri; two brothers, Danny Passley and wife Lisa, Alba, Missouri, Kevin Passley, Joplin, Missouri; one sister, Melissa Poole and husband Rick, Round Rock Texas; four grandchildren, Garrett Pliler, Colton Passley, Kennedy Passley, Kylie Passley; brother and sister in-law Rusty and Katherine Sidenstricker, Webb City, Missouri, and his father in-law Rex Sidenstricker, Webb City, Missouri as well numerous other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Saturday May 20, 2017 at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral with Rev. Bob Dart officiating. Judy Miller
Judy Ann (Wagner) Miller, age 64, of Joplin, passed away on Friday May 19, 2017, at Freeman Hospital, following a sudden illness.
She was born on September 15, 1952 in Neosho, Mo., the daughter of the late Emmitt Thomas and Helen Florence (Jaster) Wagner. She grew up on a farm in Wheaton, Mo. She married Rex Land in 1970 they had two sons, Thomas and Steven Land. She and the boys moved to Joplin in 1978, where she worked for Art Hammonds Insurance Agency. She married Roger Miller and together they started Miller Trucking. Roger passed away in 2001. She then became secretary/treasurer for of the Jasper County Medical Society and the Southwest Dental Society. She ended her career with BRB Trucking.
She leaves behind her husband Stephen Tanner Bowman, Joplin; two sons, Thomas Land and wife Janice, Joplin, and Steven Land, Joplin; one sister, Nadine Lehr and husband Jerry, Republic, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Brayden and Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt and Helen Wagner; her husband Roger Miller; and a sister Katherine Witt. We love you mom.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Pops Elam
Phillip Brian "Pops" Elam, age 83, lifelong Joplin resident, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Spring River Christian Village.
Pops was born May 27, 1933 in Joplin, son of the late Clyde and Betty Elam. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1952, and worked at Elam's Service Station at 26th and Main for over 30 years with his father Clyde. He later worked for Mid-Western Service Station at 15th and Illinois. He enjoyed NASCAR, Monster Trucks, and Tractor Pulls, and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Pops was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Joyce, a daughter, Cheryl, and a brother, Bill Elam and his wife Penny.
Survivors include his daughters, Cyndi Annis and husband Robert of Weir, Kansas, and Christi Green and husband Shawn of Baxter Springs, Kansas; grandchildren, Brandon, Brandy, Meeka, Destiny, Megan, and Carly; 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with interment to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

Harold Arnold
Harold Wayne Arnold, age 80, Carl Junction, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Mercy of Joplin.
Harold was born November 18, 1936 in Galena, Kansas, son of the late Pascoe and Ada Gust Arnold. Harold graduated from Carl Junction High School where he was a standout baseball player. He went to Tulsa University studying to get his degree in accounting. He played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations. He worked several jobs throughout his career, including working for Alford D. Goldman where he was the youngest manager of a Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store in Tulsa, and later worked as a truck driver. He returned to Carl Junction in the 1970's, and enjoyed playing cards, traveling with Carolyn, and was always a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a brother, Don Arnold, and sisters, Barbara English and Edna Lawver.
Survivors include Carolyn Arnold of the home; daughter, Kimberly Arnold of Little Rock, Arkansas; son, Wayne Arnold of Collinsville, Oklahoma; brother, Bill Nivens and wife Renate of Mount Vernon, Missouri; sister, Sandy Arnold of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Nicholas LaBeau, Brice Hudson, Bobby Hudson, Jeremy Arnold, Josh Arnold. Darrell Osborn
Darrell Osborn, age 72 of Neosho, entered into rest on May 20, 2017 at Medicalodge in Neosho, following a short illness.
Darrell was born Dec. 23, 1944 in Neosho and was a lifelong area resident. He owned and operated a mowing service and enjoyed dancing. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Darrell is survived by two children, Kelley Sawyers of Neosho and Darrell E. Osborn and wife, Megan of Portland, OR; two sisters, Pauline Renfroe of Seneca and Ruth Eine of Red Bluff, CA; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edna Osborn.
Memorial services will be Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church in Neosho, Pastor Buddy Funk will officiate.

Leonard Earl Warren, age 92, Asbury, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his home.
Leonard was born May 16, 1925 in Mountain View, Missouri, son of the late Early A. "Levi" Warren and Rosa Runkey Warren. He graduated from high before joining the United States Army where he served during World War II, stationed in Belgium. He worked as a commercial contractor, building many churches and buildings throughout the United States. He was the contractor that built the Fish Hatchery in Neosho among other building in this area. He retired in 1990, and moved to Asbury in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Edwards Warren of the home, son, David Warren; daughters, Karen Nichols and husband Larry, Linda Beatty and husband Bob, and Susan Wooten and husband Herby; step-children, Dusty Booth and wife Janie, Rusty Booth and wife Linda, Gaylene Corbett and husband Dan, Beth Wiggins and husband Travis; several grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Burial of his ashes will be at a later date in Upper Falls River Cemetery, Eureka, Kansas with full military honors.

Jerry Hatfield
Jerry J. Hatfield, Sr., age 82, Carl Junction, passed away at 1:36 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Mercy Hospital after an illness.
Jerry was born September 26, 1934 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Merle Hatfield and Juanita Nance Hatfield and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life.
He worked as an over the road truck driver all of his adult life. Jerry had worked for several different companies, including Midwestern Machinery and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for over thirty years. He enjoyed John Wayne movies; the outdoors and loved coffee!
Jerry married Janet Myers on August 22, 1970 in Indiana. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include his children, Jerry Earl, Jerry J., Jr., Cheryl Ann, Tony Ray, Debra Lynne, Lisa Marie, Laura Sue, Gary Lee, Kathy Jo, Michael Allan; one sister, Judy Anne McGinnis; one brother, Donald Bruce Hatfield, twenty grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
A memorial visitation is planned for Thursday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the family home.

Edward Hembree
Edward D. Hembree, 67, Diamond, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 21, 2017 at Mt. Vernon Veterans Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 28, 1949 in Racine, Missouri, the son of Cecil and Maggie Ann (Shields) Hembree. Edward was a lifelong area resident and served in the U.S. Army. His love and passion for woodworking was displayed in his cabinet making and carpentry work. He was totally devoted to his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Edward is survived by three children, Deania Ellis and husband, Andrew of Neosho, Becky Gray and husband, Chris of Neosho and Edward Hembree, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Diamond; eight grandchildren, Jon Shields, Corey Pio and wife, Dana, Sarah Shields, Jacob Pio and wife, Farrah, Nate Yoder, Taylor Hembree, Jarron Hembree, and Ben Yoder; two great grandchildren, Ace Pio and Sadie Pio. Edward is preceded in death by his parents, numerous brothers and sisters and he is survived by one brother, Wesley Hembree.
Private graveside services will be held. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Bill Curtsinger
William "Bill" Curtsinger, 76 years old, passed away May 18th after losing his battle with ALS.
Bill was born July 29, 1940 in Walkermine, CA to Henry and Nona Mae 'Nash" Curtsinger. He was raised and went to school in Prairie Grove, AR. He worked summers in the oil fields in Texas, In 1959 he went to work for Frank & Rhine Co. he was an employee and part owner of the company till 1985. The company built and remodeled banks in the 4-state area. At that time he retired from the company to farm full-time, he raised cattle and had 2 pig nurseries for Murphy's till he was forced to retire because of his ill health from ALS in 2013.
He married Erma L. Pitts January 16, 1960 in Greenfield, MO.
He is survived his wife Erma, of 57 years, 3 children; Debbie Jenkins (Danny), Golden City, Mo, Carla Davis (Tim), Lamar, MO, and Henry Curtsinger (Donna), Golden City, MO. Eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Troy and sister-in-law Margaret all of Prairie Grove, AR.

Charles English
Charles Patrick English, age 55, passed away on Monday May 15, 2017. He was born on August 30, 1961 in Ponca City, Okla., the son of the late David Allen English and Bobbie Anne (Setser) English.
Charles worked as a landscaper. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica and was known to make up a few songs of his own. He carved walking sticks, and enjoyed cooking, using his mother’s recipes.
Charles is survived by one brother, Dan English and his wife Joyce, Norcross, Ga.; three nephews, Benjamin English, Alaska, Danny English, Topeka, Ks., and David English, Topeka, Ks.; one niece, Kelly English, Topeka, Ks.; and cousins, Teresa Setser, Toni Setser, Connie Wommack, Gary Weeks, and Hoot Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Mark and Mike English.
Services were held Friday, May 19, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Marlene McCormack
Marlene Farren-McCormack, age 85, Joplin, passed away on Thursday May 18, 2017 at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Marlene was born on January 11, 1932 in Neosho, Mo. the daughter of the late Kenneth and Eva Faye (Bollinger) Boyer. She has been a lifetime area resident. She graduated from Seneca High School and from Joplin Business College. She was also a real-estate broker. Throughout her life she owned and operated four business’, Dina Shack in Neosho, Mo., Dairy Queen in Webb City, Mo., Mr. B’s Chicken in Seneca, Mo., and a real-estate agency in Noel, Mo. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, and was a strong Christian woman. She enjoyed decorating, sewing, and gardening. She loved her family.
She married Virgil Lee McCormack on September 12, 2003 in Eureka Springs, Ar. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Boyer.
She is survived by four sons, Dan Farren, Joplin; Steve Farren and wife Connie, Joplin, Mark Farren, Longmont, Co., and David Scott Farren and wife Renee, Port St. Lucie, Florida; two step-daughters, Janet Fisher and husband Craig, Joplin, and Phyllis Pearce, Joplin; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Pastor Hank Deslatte will officiate. Entombment will be in Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until services time at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
Gene Cobble
Huber Eugene “Gene” Cobble, 87, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest at 11:26pm, May 19, 2017 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin, MO after an illness.
Huber Eugene Cobble was born March 22, 1930 in Lake City, KS the son of Huber Harold and Pauline Marie (Belt) Cobble. He was a 1948 graduate of Seneca High School and served his county in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954. Gene was a 32nd degree Mason of the Blue Lodge 247 in Neosho, MO. He retired 1986 after 31 years working at the former BF Goodrich Plant in Miami, OK. Gene was a member of the Swars Prairie Baptist Church, Seneca, MO and loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
Huber Eugene Cobble married Marcia Rae Plummer, May 27, 1951 in Ft. Walton Beach, FL and she survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Rena Arrington and husband Melvin, Vinita, OK; one son, Greg Cobble and wife Tina, Loma Linda, MO; one sister, Marie Green and husband Gary, Seneca; three grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Orville Cobble.
Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Swars Prairie Baptist Church with Todd Decker and Paul Case officiating. Burial will be in the Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery with Ken Middick, Stephen Middick, Brandon Middick, Mike Green, Steve Crowley, Morris Ehrhart and Clay Cobble serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Swars Prairie Baptist Church building fund.
Beverly Martin
Beverly L. Martin, 69, Carthage, MO, passed away Wednesday evening, May 17, 2017 at her home. Beverly Louise Martin was born January 31, 1948 in Jasper County, MO to the late Homer C. Goodnight and Thelma (Crow) Goodnight. She graduated from Jasper High School, Class of 1966. She was a homemaker. Beverly married Leroy Martin on December 31st, 1968 in Carthage, MO; he survives.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Jeff W. Martin (wife Jazan), Jasper, MO, and James L. Martin (wife Mary), Joplin, MO; three sisters, Patricia Bedell (husband Gayle), Goodman, MO, Kathy Frye (husband Jim), Quapaw, OK, and Vicki McClean (husband Frank), Joplin, MO; and five grandchildren, Jenilee Martin, Jacob Martin, Elizabeth Martin, McKenzie Martin, and Felicia Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Oxford Health Care, and to Mike & Pat Cloud and to all the employees of Cloud’s Meats.
Visitation will be held 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. The body will be taken for cremation, and inurnment will take place at a later date at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Leon Stepp
Russell Leon Stepp, age 93, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Mercy Hospital of Joplin
Leon was born December 3, 1923 in Stepp Ford, Oklahoma, son of the late Joseph and Lennah Stepp. He worked for Eagle Picher for 42 years, and was also owner and operator of Stepp and Sons Surveying in Miami, Oklahoma.
He was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, and was currently a member of the Grandpa and Grandma Popcorn Committee at McKinley Elementary School.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by sons, Mark Stepp, Kent Stepp, and a daughter, Diana Stubblefield; brothers, Bill Stepp, Ed "Bark" Stepp; sisters, Mary Warren, Claudine Stepp, and Ann Gillig.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Stepp whom he married February 15, 1980; sons, Rick Stepp, Roger Stepp and wife Beverly, Rodney Stepp, and Gary Stubblefield; daughter, Joyce Stepp; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Stepp, Lyle Stepp, Melvin Stepp, Phillip Stepp; sister, Betty Mathews; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Rob Signs, Rex Wakefield, and Rev. Jack Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Sunday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions are requested to the LaFayette House or Fellowship Baptist Church Youth/Children Summer Camp.
Lavina Martin
Lavina May Martin, age 80, passed away at 1:40 am, Friday, May 19, 2017 at Galena Nursing Center, following an illness.
Lavina was born January 19, 1937 on Shaw Hill in Galena. Her parents were George and Nellie (Shira) Lake. She had lived in Galena all of her life.
She worked at King Louie, Baxter Springs and later at Vogel’s Shirt Factory, Galena, KS. In 1992, she was employed in housekeeping at Barker’s Rest Home, Galena, a job she held for several years. She was a member of Empire Mission Church, Galena. She loved the Lord and her family. She had a heart of gold and without a doubt she is in heaven.
Lavina was married to Richard Martin July 3, 1958 in Miami, OK. He passed away March 25, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Leona Brown; and one brother, Leroy Lake.
Surviving are three sons, Rick Martin, Neosho, MO, George Martin (wife, Joyce) Galena, and Leon Martin (wife, Marla) Tahlequah, OK; one daughter, Deb Webb (husband, Joe) Carl Junction, MO; one brother, George Lake, Galena; three sisters, Weda Donham, Lois Kelley, and Lorraine Gillming, all of Galena; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will conduct a service in memory of Lavina at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Empire Mission Church, Galena. Richard Nichols will officiate. Private burial will be at Lowell Cemetery, Lowell KS at a later date.
