Cindy Diane Brown, age 59, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at her home after a sudden illness.
Cindy was born July 16, 1957 in Joplin, daughter of Velma Eads Cox of Joplin, and the late Homer Lee Brotherton, Jr. Cindy graduated from Parkwood High School in 1975, and moved to Springfield. She worked for Litton and Zenith in Springfield for years, and most recently was employed with Bass Pro Shop. She returned to Joplin in 2011. She was a huge NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon.
Survivors include her mother, Velma; sisters, Janet Slifer and husband Michael, Robyn Price and husband Ed all of Yukon, Oklahoma; brothers, Earl Clements and wife Kim of Joplin, Robert West of Denver, Colorado; six nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private interment of her ashes will be at a later date in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Albert Palmer

Albert Otis Palmer, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his home.
Albert was born July 17, 1930 in Joplin, son of the late Raymond B. Barnard and Darlene Harmon. He attended Joplin Schools, and then served in the United States Navy from 1946 through 1950. He returned to Joplin and worked as a mechanic before taking his skills to the next level, becoming a aerospace mechanic working for McDonald Douglas, Lockheed-Martin, and also doing contract work for the Military working on plane design. He traveled the country doing this before settling in Arizona, and retiring in 1995 from Lockheed-Martin. He returned to Joplin shortly after retirement.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Wilson Palmer, who died January 17, 2007, and a sister, Betty Jean Barnard.
Survivors include his children, Albert D. Palmer and Glenda Smith of Joplin, Terri Lee Windahl and Norman, Betty Darlene Newsted and Leonard all of Buckeye, Arizona; brothers, Paul Palmer and Sally of Indiana, Floyd D. Short and Linda of Joplin; sisters, Hazel Mahon and Lee of Joplin, Carol K. Wallace and Jimmy of Senora, California; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Kaye Conrad officiating. Full military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #13.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Keith Bertalotto
Keith Duane Bertalotto, age 56, of Powell, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
He was born July 14, 1960 in Stella, Missouri, to Glenna Epps and the late Orbie Bertalotto.
He worked in the maintenance department for Cobb Vantress chicken processing plant, and was a member of the Whitenberg Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, canoeing, fishing and hunting.
In Addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Justin Bertalotto.
Keith is survived by his mother, Glenna; daughter, Lisa Ponthieux and husband Daniel of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two grandchildren; and many cousins, several of which helped provide for his care.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, cards may be mailed to Glenna Epps, in care of, Becky Cook, 194 Many Waters Road, Powell, Missouri 65730.

Timothy Leon Allen, age 39 passed away at 12:32 am, Thursday, June 29, 2107 at Via Christi St Frances Hospital, Wichita, KS.
Tim was born March 31, 1978 in Joplin, Missouri. His parents were Tommy Simon and Sharon Ann Allen. He has lived in Wichita the past few months, moving from Pensacola, OK. He worked in construction building bridges for several years. He enjoyed playing disc golf and was an avid Indianapolis Colts football fan.
He was married to Cassie Lynne Summers April 5, 1997 in Miami, OK. She survives and lived in Pensacola, OK.
Additional survivors include 4 sons, Zachary Allen (wife, Katy), Brandon Allen (wife, Catilda), and Preston Allen, all of Pensacola, OK and Andrew Cooley, Joplin, MO; one daughter, Emily Stone, Sioux Falls, ND; two grandchildren, Blake Allen and Amelia Stone; His mother, and step-father Jamie and Sharon Clark, Corpus, Christi, TX; one brother, Chris Simon, Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Ann Allen and Carrie Allen both from Corpus Christi, TX; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Mylz Leon Allen.

Lorene Kester
Lorene Jane Kester, age 91, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Grace Living Center, Jenks, Oklahoma.
Lorene was born January 5, 1926 in Carthage, Missouri to the late Claude A. Abram and Hazel A. Hout Abram. She worked as a printer in Corpus Christi, Texas at the Caller-Times and retired in 1988 after serving over twenty six years at the Joplin Globe. Lorene had also worked at Western Union Telegraph Company in Kansas, Colorado and Missouri. She enjoyed bowling, reading and working as church librarian for 3 different churches. Lorene worked several years with Missouri Southern State University, producing senior programming and was secretary-treasurer of the Prestige Senior Bowling League. Lorene was a faithful member of Eastview Baptist Church, Joplin. Before moving to Jenks, she resided at College View Manor in Joplin, where she enjoyed many friendships and afternoon card games.
She was the Worthy Matron of Eastern Star in Joplin and was a volunteer for Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Lorene enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, oil painting and traveling with great friends and family.
Lorene was an avid KU Basketball fan and was the first female allowed in the KU Press Box, reporting on the game via Western Union teletype. She also enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals and watching football.
Lorene married R. Wayne Kester on May 17, 1985 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Parker and husband, Rev. Jerry, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two stepsons, Gary Kester and wife, Denice, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Greg Kester, and wife, Charlyn, Carthage; two brothers, Max Abram, Rockledge, Florida, Wilbert Abram, and wife, Janet, Lee's Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Casey Kester Mabe and husband, Andy, Nick Kester, Lindsey Kester Hodges and husband, Jason, Hailey Kester; great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Jake Mabe and Grayson and Landry Hodges; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Services are planned for Monday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with visitation from 1:00 p.m. up to service time. Dr. Tim Sumners and Rev. Jerry Parker will officiate.
A private internment will take place at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gideon's International or Samaritans Purse, both in care of the mortuary.

Art Beebe

Bro. Arthur Andrew "Art" Beebe, longtime minister of Ben Israel Ministries/Fellowship in Cass Lake-Laporte, Minnesota, passed away on June 28, 2017 at 11:05 AM at the age of 84.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary (Baker-Stranathan), whom he married on December 10, 1954, and who served as his "co-minister", as well as his children Brenda, Brian, Rodney, Brent, and Eric; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Andrew Beebe and Lillian Rebecca (Prince) Beebe.
A native of Coldwater, Kansas, he trained at Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas and was a well-known and tireless minister of the gospel in the northern Minnesota region, and many other places in the U.S. and Europe.
He was a former trustee and minister among urban Christian outreaches and fellowships in the Kansas City area before relocating to Ben Israel and Dominion Farms, initially in 1975 through the 1980s.
He had retired and moved to Parsons, Kansas, and then to Joplin, Missouri in 2015.
A mentor, teacher, counselor, spiritual leader, and friend for countless people, he was a past member of the Northern Minnesota Elders Conference, Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International in Kansas City and Bemidji, Minnesota, and for over the years served among Native Americans and congregations throughout the Chippewa Tribe, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
He was a key organizer and teacher of the annual Summer and Labor Day Convocations at Camp Dominion (north Steamboat Lake) through the late'70s-'80s, and was a main presenter at three "war colleges" at the Ben Israel Lodge held in the summer of 2014 and attended by participants from Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota and regional Native American reservations.
He traveled broadly throughout Europe including Germany, Austria and the former communist Yugoslavia, and also throughout Israel as part of evangelistic teams.
He returned with his wife from Parsons to Ben Israel Fellowship and was administrator, trustee, and pastor of the Ben Israel Fellowship from 2009 to 2015.
He earlier attended schools and worked on ranches and wheat farms while growing up in Coldwater, before enlisting in the Army. He was honorably discharged from the US Army with the rank of sergeant as a guided missile instructor on Nike missile systems at the Army's Air Defense Training Center at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. After his enlistment, he worked in aircraft manufacturing at the Boeing Company in Kansas. Art later worked for 15 years at Bendricks, now Allied Corporation, and also a period of 10 years as County Appraiser for Cherokee and Labette Counties in Kansas. He was a member of the American Legion and the DAV, and enjoyed playing the game of golf.
He was also at the Mokahum Indian Bible School, and served the fellowship/congregation through 2015. Mokahum, founded in 1948 by the Christian and Missionary Alliance as a residential school providing Bible training to Native Americans, has hosted students from throughout the continental United States and Alaska.

Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Ann King, 62, Arkadelphia, AR, passed away June 26, 2017 in Galveston, Texas. She was born June 12, 1955 in Neosho, MO.
Betsy is the daughter of James Calvin and Mary Beth (Dorsey) Lane.
She was a retired teacher in the Bismarck, Arkansas School District. Betsy was a member of the Methodist Church in Arkadelphia, AR. Betsy married Lee King June 16, 1979 in Neosho MO. He survives in Arkadelphia, AR.
Additional survivors are two children, Erin Elizabeth Moore and husband Derek, Springdale, AR., Austin Morgan King and wife Devin, Hollywood, AR. She is also survived by her Mother, Mary Beth Lane, Neosho, MO, a brother Jim ‘Bud’ Lane and wife Diana, Branson, MO. and three grandchildren, Piper King, Brooks King and Ellis Moore.

Lucille Sappington
Lucille Sappington died on June 23, 2017 at her home in Joplin, Missouri.
Lucille was born on October 31, 1922, in Stella, Missouri to Leta and Noah Cullers. She was the first of six children. It was in Stella she spent her early years. Coming from musical parents she loved to sing, play piano and violin. While attending school at Stella, she met her future husband Gerald (Junior) Sappington. They were married on Easter Sunday 1941 and at Gerald’s death in 2006 they had celebrated 65 years together.
Spending her married life as a homemaker, she was Gerald’s greatest support, caring for their four children, entertaining all who entered the parsonage, reading every sermon, singing in the choir, playing piano and cooking, cooking, cooking. Right after they retired from the ministry she earned the title Master Angler after catching a monster fish while on a fishing trip to Canada with friends.
Lucille and Gerald ministered 30 years in churches of Missouri from Joplin to Hopkins. After retirement they returned to Stella where they enjoyed swimming in Indian Creek, checking their cattle and being with close-at-hand relatives and friends. They especially liked Friday night dances at the Community Center.
In 2002 Lucille moved to Spring River Retirement Village where she lived the rest of her life. She was an avid reader throughout her life and took a number of college classes. Her bubbling personality was enjoyed by all who knew her.
She had learned the fine art of “adjusting” to the situation and always made the best wherever she landed. And no matter where she went she was dressed for the occasion and never left her home without looking the elegant person she was.
Cultivating many friends throughout her life, Lucille’s last years were especially enriched by her loving friend Richard Kelly.
At her death she has all four children living, Patricia and Jim Pierce in Rayville MO, Preston and Carol Sappington in Parkville, MO, Mark and Beth Sappington in Diamond, MO and John Sappington in Sebastapol, CA. She leaves ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Still living is her sister Frances Lynn and her brother Charles Cullers. Lucille will be missed by her family as well as all those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Lucille’s life will be held at the Stella United Methodist Church Saturday, July 1, 2017. Visitation proceeding the Service at 9:00 a.m., Service at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service at Macedonia Cemetery.

She is survived by her partner Sara Gregory, her beloved animals, Devo, Murphy and Helen, her father Herb Little and wife Brenda, her mother Joanne Hawkins, a grandmother, Wanda Wallis, two brothers, David Little and husband Sagan, Michael Wood and wife Kerri, five sisters, Desaray Green and husband Mike, Amber Earleywine and husband Chad, Brandy Little and partner Carol, Sally Rhodes and husband Chris, Stacy Bryant and husband Jake, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dewey Combs
Dewey Combs, age 87, Carthage, Missouri, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 25, 2017, from a sudden illness.
Dewey was born May 27, 1930, in Checotah, Oklahoma, son of the late William Dewey Combs and Mattie Lou Willingham Combs.
He graduated from Springdale High School, then attended Pittsburg State University where he received his bachelor's degree in physical education,. He later received a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Missouri. He was a coach and teacher with several schools during his 30 year career. He compiled a record of 213-65-14 for four different schools, Golden City, Gallatin, Trenton, and Joplin. His team at Trenton went undefeated twice, and captured the State Title in 1966. He began coaching at Joplin High School in 1967. He coached Joplin schools for 19 years, compiling a record of 157-39-7, capturing 13 Ozark Conference Titles. In 1968, Joplin formed two high schools, Memorial and Parkwood, and Dewey became the head coach at Parkwood. Dewey was the first, and only head coach at Parkwood. He retired in 1985 after coaching the newly-consolidated Joplin High School for one season. He had undefeated Missouri State Championship teams at Parkwood in 1975, 1980, and 1983. The 1976 team was also undefeated, but due to the Missouri point system, they were not included in the playoffs, sparking a change in the Missouri point system.
Coach Combs was elected into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, the Missouri High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1985, and in 2015, Junge Stadium was renamed the Dewey Combs Athletic Complex at Junge Field in honor of the coach's contributions to the sport, and all the lives he influenced over the years.
In addition to his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Combs, who died August 14, 2001, brothers, Curtis and William, sisters, Betty Lou and Ann.
Survivors include his children, Tracy Flanigan and husband Matt of Carthage, son, Jim Combs (member of the 1980 State Championship Team) and wife Suzie of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Kyle and Eric Combs, Anne and Bren Flanigan; brother Rick Combs and wife Darlene; sister, Patricia; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 812 S. Pearl Ave, Joplin, with Father Joji Vincent officiating. Private family interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Pennie Du Plessis
Petronella M. Du Plessis (Pennie) (78 years 6 months and 17 days), passed away at 04h05 on Wednesday morning - June 28, 2017 at her home near Monett, MO. She was born in Springs, South Africa on December 11, 1938, the daughter of Johan and Nellie Joubert. She is survived by her only sister, Ria de Beer of Pretoria, South Africa, her children Kobus and Patsy of Monett, Pierre and Marshona of Westville, South Africa, Stefan of Seneca, SC and daughters in-law Madie of Cumming, GA and Yris of Port Elizabeth, South Africa . She is also survived by eight grand children and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband—Steve, parents, and brother.
Pennie was a bookkeeper, controller and partner, with her husband in their Electrical Contractor business for over 16 years. After her husband passed away in 1985, she continued with the business for several more years.
She retired in 1995 and emigrated to the USA in 2001 to settle in Monett, MO where she lived with her eldest son and daughter in law, Kobus and Patsy.
Pennie was a distinguished seamstress. She was well known for her custom window treatments and decorative cushions she made for several Interior Decorators in Joplin and Springfield over the years. Many of her handmade items were featured in the 417 Magazine.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at NewSiteBaptistChurch in Monett. Funeral services will directly follow and begin at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Aaron Weibel will be officiating. Interment will be at NewSiteCemetery. Wanda Francis Neatherry was born September 22, 1923 in Carthage, MO to the late Everett Neatherry and Viola Mae (Hopkins) Neatherry. Wanda was a graduate of Carthage High School, Class of 1941. She worked and retired from Bob’s Shoe Warehouse.

of Carthage. Eric served six years in the United States Navy.
Eric was united in marriage to Shawna Trease December 30, 2006 in Eureka Springs Arkansas; she survives.

Mrs. Judy Edwards, 74, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Judy entered this life on March 5, 1943 in Carthage, Missouri to the union of the late Arthur and Helen (Green) Chatterton. After her mother preceded her in death as a child, she was raised by Durward and Dorothy Brown. She worked several years at area hospitals as an L.P.N. She was united in marriage to Bobby Edwards on May 1, 1992 in Miami, Oklahoma. Judy enjoyed dancing, reading, crocheting, journaling, collecting 4-leaf clovers for her grandchildren and co-workers, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Michael; and three grandchildren, Jade, Dennis and Trisha Kisling.

Vernon Baiamonte
Dr. Vernon Baiamonte, 83, of Joplin, Mo passed away on Monday, July 26, 2017 at 11:45 pm at The Communities of Wildwood Ranch, surrounded by his family.
Vernon was born on April 29, 1934 in Ault, Colorado to Joseph and Virginia Baiamonte. He graduated from Ault High School and entered the United States Navy where he served on the ammunition ship Vesuvius during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, He attended Colorado State College and Indiana University, graduating with his Ph.D in Chemistry. He accepted a teaching position with Missouri Southern State College in 1968, soon after becoming the first department head for the college as the Head of the Physical Science Department where he led the department and taught Chemistry until his retirement in 1998.
He married Betty Sue Lindenmier on December 31, 1958 in Greeley, Colorado. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church. He and Betty were avid square dancers and enjoyed traveling for dancing events for many years until his health deteriorated.
He is survived by his wife Betty Baiamonte, his four daughters Donna (Don) Alford, Diamond, Mo.; Cathy (Stuart) Crawford, Joplin, Karen Warden, Carl Junction, Mo; and Rebecca (Jeremy) Morrissey, Joplin. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Frank Baiamonte, Webster, Tx; Susan Conklin, Arlington, Virginia; Jo Ann Eichinger, Lafayette, Colorado; Joey Baiamonte, Golden, Colorado and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Mason Woodard. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Tracy Rowe will officiate. The pallbearers will be Jeremy Alford, Chris Clutter, Zach Alford, Patrick Crawford, Christopher Crawford, and Brayden Thomas.
Immediately following the service, burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery with full military rites.

Clifton Farrin
Clifton Dudley Farrin Jr., age 85, of rural Oronogo, Mo. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones at 3:17 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017. Clifton was born October 15, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa. He returned to the Joplin area in 1980 after living many years in California. Clifton was employed as a Building Superintendent for the Capital Construction Co. in California. He later became involved in real estate as a builder, and investor. He was a member of both the Northern and Southern California Carpenter’s Unions. In recent years he achieved his dream of designing and building a lake home on Table Rock Lake.
Clifton married Geraldine “Gerri” Chancellor May 12, 1986 in Kansas City, Mo. and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Greg Farrin and wife Gaylene, Jasper, Mo., a daughter, Alana Scott, Hubbard, Ne., a daughter in law, Sharia Thompson and husband Craig, Miami, Ok. a sister in law, Lynn Farrin, Palmdale, Ca., 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wimpey, and two brothers, Wilbur and Robert Farrin. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Frank Buchannan Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Dwight Leon Simpson age 73, of Carl Junction passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born on April 13, 1944 in Yates Center, Kansas to William Simpson and Letha (Mayes) Simpson. Dwight owned his own fencing business for many years, was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, and also a past member of the Carl Junction Fire Department.
He married Nina Simpson on June 12, 1976 in Carl Junction and she preceded him in death on February 3, 2009. Dwight is survived by a son, David Simpson and wife Becki of Miami, OK; sister, Cecilea Lewis and husband John of Webb City; brother, Lonnie Joe Simpson; nephew, Rusty Lewis; and a granddaughter, Hailey Simpson.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Calvin Nance
Calvin C. Nance, age 90, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 2:33 a.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his home. Calvin was born March 11, 1927 in Anderson, Mo. He had lived in Joplin for over 35 years. He previously owned service stations, and a propane business. When he came to Joplin he worked at a couple of service stations, and for twelve years worked at Mr. C’s Blind Co. in Joplin, retiring in 2011. Calvin was a member of Faith Baptist Church and served as song leader. He was a musician, and played guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. Calvin was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Calvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor, two sons, six brothers, and two sisters.
He married his beloved Adabelle Burkey Sundy June 3,1985 in Miami, Ok. and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Calvin D. Nance and wife Yolie, Sarcoxie, Mo, four step sons, Ron Sundy, Gary Sundy, Bill Sundy, and Rick Sundy, one sister, Emma Lou Thomason, Marshall Mo., 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Pastor Bruce Allen, and Rev. Don Carden officiating. Burial will follow at the Garber Cemetery, west of Sarcoxie. Helen Diehl
Helen O. Case-Diehl, age 80, Joplin, passed away at 5:23 a.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Communities of the Wildwood.
Helen was born July 1, 1936 in Frederick, Maryland to the late Charles M. and Emma Smith and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
She worked as an oncology nurse at the former St. John's Regional Medical Center for over 20 years. Following retirement, she worked as a home health care nurse for several years. Helen was a former member of St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Helen married David F. Diehl on June 24, 2001 in Arkansas. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Pamela Cottrill, Joplin, Elizabeth Baum and partner, J.R. Blackwell, Carthage, Sarah Kay Baum-Coleman, Joplin; one brother, Charles Krokroskia, Louisiana; grandchildren, Nichole, Billy, Mary, India; and great grandchildren, Taila, Emma, Hazel and one on the way.
Graveside services are planned for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Cottrill, Don Wills, Zach Gripp, J.R. Blackwell, Bill Cottrill and Kenny Braun. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

She was a graduate of Monett High School and furthered her education in Oregon where she studied at Portland Community College. Dorothy was a truck driver for many years, logging tens of thousands of miles. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, MO. Dorothy was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #4207 Ladies Auxiliary.
On July 30, 1982 in Purdy, MO, Dorothy was united in marriage to Carl Junior Sigman. They were blessed with over thirty-four years together. Survivors include her husband, Carl, of the home; four sons, Joe Holle and wife Kim, of Joplin, MO, James Sigman and wife LeighAnn, of Cabool, MO, Jerald Sigman and wife Missy, of Cabool, and Michael Sigman and wife Carmen, of Cabool; two daughters, Jennifer Coulter, of Willard, MO and Angela Sigman, of Cabool; two brothers, Gary Baxter and Steve Baxter; two sisters, Mary Coy and Sara Hagebusch; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

Doyle L. Todd, 77, Avilla, MO passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at his home. Doyle Lee Todd was born May 17, 1940 in Lockwood, MO to Orlie and Francis Todd. Doyle married Ada Mae Maggard on September 5, 1969 in Carthage, MO, she survives. He worked as a Machine Operator at Carmar/Americold Logistics for 38 years before having to retire due to health issues. He attended the Avilla Baptist Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Ada Mae, two daughters, Teresa (husband Jerry) Foiles, Avilla, MO, Angela (husband Philip) Allen, Lamar, MO; one son, Mike (wife Johnda) Todd, Avilla, MO; two sisters, Janice Jeffries, Carthage, MO, Jean Burtrum, Springfield, MO; two brothers, Carroll Todd, Marionville, MO, Wendell (wife Janey) Todd, Carthage, MO; ten grandchildren, Danny (wife Hannah) Foiles, Elizabeth Lawerance, Jeremy Todd, Makayla Todd, Jared (wife Keesha) Todd, Cheyenne Allen, Morgan Allen, Austin Allen, Kelly (husband Brandon) Ross, Danielle (husband Josh) Purinton; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie Lawerance and Josie Purinton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dale Todd, and a grandson, Colby Todd.

John Dowell-Smith
John Dowell-Smith, age 52, of Joplin, passed away June 21, 2017 after a long illness.
John was born January 16, 1965 to Bette (Pierson) Dowell Smith and Cecil R. Dowell in Joplin. He was a lifelong resident. John was a professional auto body/ paint man and certified auto inspector. He owned his own shop, John's Auto Body, at the age of 18; he continued his profession until his illness became too bad.
John is survived by his siblings, Bobby Dowell, of Florida, Ronnie Dowell, and his wife, Samone, of Carl Junction, Steve Dowell, and his wife Ramona, of Carl Junction, Tim Dowell, and his wife, Lisa, of Utah, William Smith, of Joplin, Tammy Osborn, and her husband, Leroy, of Wyandotte, Kandi Anderson, and her husband, Donnie, of Carthage, and Piper Ficken ,and her husband Mike, of Cabool. He is also survived by his adopted father, Don Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews including three especially close, Katie Smith, Austin Smith, and Angel Benge.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved niece, Meaghann.
All who knew John will remember his funny and sometimes stupid sense of humor, like when he would tell a young family member "Call me an orange." "Are you an orange?" "No!" Some of his last words were "Johnny Bondo says May the 4th be with you!"
John’s family will be hosting a pot luck memorial dinner at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30th at McClelland Park with John’s Uncle Jerry Williams officiating. Friends and family are asked to please bring a covered dish and memories.

Jerrie Lynn Butler, age 68, Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
Jerrie was born November 20, 1948 in Joplin, daughter of Delores Bybee Davis and the late Carl Davis.
Jerrie worked in the dietary department at St. John's in Joplin, at Pillsbury, and as a bus driver for the R-8 School District, Head Start, and the Ozark Center.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Davis.
She is survived her mother, her husband, Michael, whom she married October 5, 1973; one son, Robert Butler, and wife, Kelly of Jacksonville, North Carolina; two daughters, Heather Williams, and husband, Clint of Baxter Springs, Kansas, and Michelle Butler, Sarcoxie, Missouri; seven grand children, Zachery Butler, David Coleman, Phillip Miller, Jessica Mays, Jacob Goodman, Maddie Butler, and Haley Fitzjohn; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Bobbie Russell, Joplin and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that she loved very much.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Jeff D. Martin, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Robert Dean “Dino” Wiggin, II, 44, Enid, was born on March 15, 1973 in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Robert Dean, Sr. and Judith Eileen Gipson Wiggin, and passed away on June 23, 2017 in the Carrier area. Dino was raised and educated in Avilla, Missouri, graduating from Sarcoxie High School with the class of 1991. Dino received his CDL License. He married Christina Maye Ochsner in Enid on July 27, 2002. At the time of his passing, Dino was employed with Copeland Hot Oil Services in Hennessey. Dino enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Loved to sing and enjoyed the outdoors.

She was born on September 7, 1947 in Webb City to Raymond and Anna Bevier. Judith graduated from Webb City High School in 1965 and has been a lifetime area resident. She was retired from Fleener Brothers trucking company.
The family will tentatively have memorial service on July 7 at 1:00 PM at Grace Presbyterian church in Grove, OK. Judith is survived by her parents, a brother, Keith Bevier; a niece Lori Asbury and husband Dave; a nephew Brian Bevier and wife Corrie and their children.

Jo Lynn (Dacy) Ford, 58, of Monett, MO, went home to peace and comfort with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 25, 2017, while in Cox-South Medical Center in Springfield, MO.
Jo Lynn was born on October 9, 1958 in Monett, MO, daughter of the late Robert J. Dacy, Sr. and Norma J. (Young) Dacy.
Jo Lynn was employed at Crosslines in Monett. She enjoyed her grandchildren, working in her flowers and cooking for her family.
On January 8, 2005 in Monett, Jo Lynn and Gerald Ford were united in marriage.
Jo Lynn is survived by her husband, Gerald, of Monett; three sons, Arron Fly of Joplin, MO, Derrick Fly of Colchester, IL and Jarred Young of Ava, MO; two daughters, Kara Fly of Crane, MO and Megan Wilson, of Pierce City, MO; six grandchildren; one brother, Robert Dacy, Jr. and wife Lynda of Monett; two sisters, Theresa Day and husband Rick, of Fairview, MO and Paulette Willoughby of Pierce City, MO; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Patty Mason; and one brother, Gary Willoughby.
We will hold her in our hearts and miss her dearly.

Colton Tyler
Colton James Tyler, of Greenfield, MO, departed this life on Friday, June 23, 2017, at the age of 14 years.
He was born on November 20, 2002 in Bullhead City, AZ to R. Craig and Kelley (Collins) Tyler. Colton was a Freshman at Greenfield High School. He excelled academically in all his classes. Tyler was always willing to help his fellow classmates. He was good natured and loved by all.
Survivors include his parents, R. Craig and Kelley Tyler; four sisters, Jade Tyler, Cheyenne Tyler, Helena Tyler and Madelyn Tyler; his grandparents, John and Anne Collins, and Ron and Deloris Tyler; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017, in the Greenfield First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery. James Dale "Jim" White, 78 yrs old, of Noel, Missouri passed away suddenly on Wednesday June 21, 2017 in Noel, MO. James White was born June 15, 1939 in Maysville, AR. He was the son of James Selby White and Jeweldine Payne White. Jim was a United States Air Force veteran who proudly served his country from 1957-1970.
Jim is survived by his wife Peggy Lou White. They were married in Miami, OK March 5, 1976. Jim is also survived by his daughters, Cheryl Shriver and husband Jon of Dewey, OK, Brenda Sova and husband David of Claremore, OK, Sherri Hendricks of Claremore, OK; sons Bryian Scott White of Noel, MO, James Alonzo White and wife Jaime of Fort Worth, TX; brothers Kenneth Setser of Decator, AR, Lee Williams and wife Sarah; sisters, Shirley Shook and husband Donnie of Gentry, AR, Jeannie Goodwin and husband Glenn of Decatur, AR, Brenda Morriss and husband Doug of Mountainburg, AR and Mary Ross of Gravette, AR. Jim has 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jim was a joyful, loving, and happy man and will be greatly missed. He had a creative and beautiful mind always searching for new things to learn and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother Bobbie Lee White, mother and father, grandparents Joe and Iva White, and his second parents Alonzo "Lon" and Martha "Matti" Payne, all from Decatur, AR.

Gene Armstrong
Gene “Breezy” Armstrong, of Lamar, Missouri died Friday, June 23, 2017 at Barton County Memorial Hospital at the age of 84.
Gene was born April 14, 1933 in Golden City, Missouri to Birdie Thurman. He attended a county grade school in Golden City, and later attended the Aurora High School. On June 30, 1951, he married Wanda Childers and together they had one son. After 37 years of marriage, she passed on January 20, 1988. On November 25, 1988, he married Joy (Walters) Henderson and she survives of the home.
Gene operated Breezy’s Barber Shop in Aurora for many years and retired from the Army National Guard in 1987 after 22 years of service. He was a member of Fundamentalist Methodist in Aurora, as well as a member of the Masons and VFW. Restoring, Racing, and Trading cars was one of his passions. He loved going to car races and attending basketball games of his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife Joy; one son Tony Armstrong and wife Terre, Springfield, Missouri; a step-son Jeff Henderson and wife Dorene, Kansas City, Missouri; a step-daughter, Annette Mayfield and husband Roger, Lamar, Missouri; grandchildren, Jenna (Nathan) Gibbs, Sean Armstrong, Claire (Brandon) Plank, Alex Henderson, Derek Henderson, Michael Henderson, Courtney Mayfield, and Erin Mayfield; great grandchildren, Bowen Plank and Gracie Gibbs who will arrive in August; two brothers-in-law, Hosea (Phillis) Gold, Republic, Missouri and Max (Debbie) Walters, Lamar, Missouri; a sister-in-law Jill (Carter) Pugh, Lamar, Missouri.

Louise M. Honeycutt, 94, Neosho, passed away June 25, 2017 in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born January 11, 1923 in Neosho, the daughter of Avery and Cordia (Crabtree) Harrington. Louise was a lifelong area resident, worked for Southwestern Bell from 1946 to 1978 as a telephone operator, then worked for a short time at Moark and Teledyne. She enjoyed needlework, hand sewing, cooking and especially being with family. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Louise married Frank Francisco, Jr. in 1941 and to this union two sons were born. She then married Herman Honeycutt in 1956 and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1981. Louise is survived by one son, Jack D. Francisco of Lebanon, MO; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and two brothers, Royal ‘Roy’ Harrington of Lead Hill, AR and Howard Harrington of Neosho. In addition to her husband and parents, Louise is preceded in death by her son, Thomas A. Francisco; one grandson; one granddaughter; six sisters and two brothers.

He was born February 5, 1936 in Twin Bridges, Montana, the son of Harlan and Edna (Strope) Juzeler. He had worked for General Motors as a Parts Manager.
Ronald married Patricia (Baker) on May 26, 1954 in Silver Star, Montana and she survives. Also surviving are four children, Steven Philip Juzeler of Stella, MO, Rhonda Van Slyke of Los Angeles, CA, Troy Juzeler of Bentonville, AR and Thayne Edward Juzeler of Silver Star, MT; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Rose Elizabeth Brown, 77, of Galena, KS passed from this life on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.
Rose was born on June 2, 1940 in Peoria, Oklahoma to the union of Marion Francis and Verna Mae (Jimmerson) Carver. Rose graduated from Quapaw High School with the class of 1958.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Glenda Sills; one son, Shane Brown; one son-In-law, David Michael; two brothers, Loran Carver, and Norman Carver; two sisters, Noma Holt, and Kathleen Weddel.
Rose is survived by one son, Danny Sills of Norman, OK; two daughters, Kim Michael of Joplin, MO, and Vickie Locke and husband Tim of Norman, OK; two brothers, Wayne Carver and wife Pearl of Dallas, TX, and John Carver and wife Teresa of Carl Junction, MO; four sisters, Loretta Aquino and husband George of Ft. Worth, TX, Carol Eddy and husband Jack of Meriden, KS, Eileen Adams of Galena, KS, and Wilma Scott and husband Dennis of Ozakie, KS; six grandchildren, Rhiannon Medley, Jennifer Emmons, Brandon Locke, Trevor Locke, Baylie Locke, and Cheyanne Locke; four great grandchildren, Brenton Moser, Kaiser Emmons, Sarah Medley, and Lilli Medley; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Rose spent many years as a military wife, staying home devoting time to her children. She then began work at Elder's Manufacturing as a single mother to provide for her kids. She retired after 20 years and started working at the Galena Nursing Center to continue providing for her kids. Rose was a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing word search puzzles. She was a big fan of OU Sooners football. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Matt Derfelt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena, KS. Carney Schneller
Carney Joe “Doc” Schneller, age 76, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Carney was born on March 4, 1941, in Willow Springs, Mo., the son of Walter Thomas and Clara Marie (Anderson) Schneller. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Central Christian Center. He was a chiropractor. He moved from Kansas City, Mo. to Monett, Mo. and has been an area resident since November of 2003. He had a PHD in Automotive Technology, Chiropractic Medicine, and Nutrition, and was a Registered Pharmacologist.
He married Patricia Shaw on November 15, 2003 in Joplin. She preceded him in death in October 2014. Surviving is their blended family; three sons, Anthony Douglas Schneller and wife Janice, Owensboro, Ky., Glen Anthony Heffner-Schneller and wife Arica, Springfield, Mo., and Gary Steven Heffner and wife Janiece, Cassville, Mo.; two daughters, Michele Marie Rice and husband Ronnie, St. Joseph, Mo., and Janet Lea Schneller, Joplin; two step-sons/nephews, Michael Castleman and wife Millie, Lebanon, Mo., and Mark Castleman, Springfield, Mo.; thirteen grandchildren, Chritapher Schneller, Chalyne (Schneller) Cox, Derek Rice, Desiree (Schneller) Gates, Trent Rice, Logan Goldey, Wade Lee, Brett Rice, Shawn Rice, Angelica Schneller, Wesley Schilly, Chance Smith, and Kaela Rice; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Daniel Farren
Daniel Lee Farren, age 68 of Joplin, Mo. passed away on June 22, 2017 at his home.
Dan was born on March 2, 1949 in Joplin, the son of Bill Farren and Marlene (Boyer) McCormack. He has been a lifetime area resident, Dan proudly served his country as part of the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his service, he returned home and worked as an electrician for many years until illness forced him to retire in 2002. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter; Lindsay Campbell of Middletown, N.J., three brothers; Steve Farren and wife Connie of Joplin, Mark Farren of Longmont, Co., Scott Farren and wife Renee of Port St. Lucie, Fl., two step-sisters; Janet Fisher and husband Craig of Joplin, Phyllis Pearce and husband Tom of Joplin, and three grandchildren; Aidan, Mackenzie and Cameron. Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Hank Deslatte, will officiate. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation following the service on Monday.

William Jack 'Snooky' Harper, Jr., age 62, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his home after a sudden illness.
Snooky was born September 15, 1954 in Joplin to Ursalee Byrd Harper and the late William Jack Harper, Sr. and had lived in the area all of his life.
He worked at the former Atlas Powder Company, was a truck driver and worked in construction before retiring. A lover of the outdoors, Snooky collected arrowheads; loved horses; enjoyed hunting and fished whenever he got the chance. Snooky was a Christian and will be missed by all who knew him.
He married Dorothy R. 'Dobie' Whinnery on August 13, 1976 in Joplin. She survives at the home.

Mark Krattley
Mark Robert Krattley, 56, passed away on Thursday, June 22nd, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a short-battle with cancer.
Mark was born on June 10, 1961, to Robert and Joan (Brinkman) Krattley, in San Diego, CA. After graduating from high school in California, Mark moved with his family to southwest Missouri. Shortly after arriving in Missouri, he met Anita Gortmaker and they were married on December 8, 1979. Together, they forged a tested but unbreakable bond. He was employed by Able Manufacturing in Joplin, MO. where he worked for almost 29 years. He was an adventurous spirit who enjoyed bike riding, kayaking, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and close network of friends.
Mark is survived by his loving wife and companion of nearly 38 years, Anita; a son, Robert and his wife Kayla, Chanute, KS; a daughter, Heather, and granddaughter, SaTriana, Neosho, MO.; two brothers, three sisters, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents and one granddaughter, Alayna Rayne.
In accordance with Mark’s wishes, his body will be cremated with arrangements handled by Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.

Earlene Kelley
Earlene Kay Kelley, adored wife, beloved mother, loving sister and cherished friend by many passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. She is preceded by her father Kenneth Leon Wilson and mother Caroline C. Wilson. Earlene is survived by her husband Garry Kelley; two sons, William Lee and Richard Chennault; and daughter in-law, Regina Chennault. She is also survived by her three adored grandchildren, Alexander, Ethan and Audrey of Richard and Regina; as well as Earlene’s sisters, Katie Kellhofer, Kendra Hansen, LaVerne Cahalan, Olene Allen; and brother, Kenneth Leon Wilson Jr. Earlene was born in Aurora Missouri and a longtime resident of Joplin.
Earlene embraced all who came into her life as family and was known endearingly as Gramma E.and Aunty E. Her most precious gift was quilting to which she freely gave to family and friends throughout her life. Her accomplishments were many and most recently had been helping start Downstream Casino Resort with her adopted family of the Mathews.
Funeral services will be held at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. with visitation following. Family and friends who have a quilt by Earlene are welcome to share the quilt and stories of Earlene at the service for all that are gathered to give final remembrances.

Thomas Bennett
Thomas Earl Bennett, age 76, of Oronogo, Mo., passed away on Thursday June 22, 2017, at his home, following an illness.
Thomas was born on September 13, 1940, in Webb City, Mo., the son of the late Russell H. and Lois (Smith) Bennett. He has been a lifetime area resident. He served in the Missouri National Guard. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Webb City, Mo. He owned and operated a farm near Oronogo, Mo.
He married Deanna Campbell on September 11, 1965 in Joplin, and she survives. Additional survivors include one son Brian Bennett and wife Holly, Oronogo, Mo.; one daughter, Marci Siler and husband Will, Shelbyville, Ky.; one sister, Carolyn Arnold of Carl Junction, Mo., and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary during a time of visitation from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday June 30, 2017 at the mortuary.

Carol Francis Beckett, 68, Neosho, passed away June 22, 2017 at Freeman West in Joplin.
She was born September 12, 1948 in Bakersfield, California, the daughter of Alvin and Myrtle (Ponder) Lavender. Carol was a very hard worker, sometimes working three jobs at one time to support her children at various jobs including convenience store manager, assistant manager and several years at Scholastic. She was extremely dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends.
She is survived by four children, Justin Beckett and wife, Christina of Neosho, Stephanie Jacobson and husband, Marion of Exeter, Jessie Beckett and wife, Joanna of Neosho and William Beckett of Neosho; brother, Bud Lavender and wife, Sherry of Grove, OK; two sisters, Betty Sumner of Neosho and Janice Lavender of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Silver Moon Full Gospel Church with Pastor Phil Barber officiating.

Ron Dodson
Ronald Edward Dodson, 70, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his home. Ron was born December 24, 1946 in Reeds, Missouri to Leon and Jewene “Stroup” Dodson. Ron worked in the agriculture market and for Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe Railroad. After retirement, he returned to the Carthage Area. Ron was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge 197 AF&AM and was a past Master of the lodge.
Ron was united in marriage to Linda Kingsbury on January 31, 1970 in Carthage; she survives.
Ron is survived by one daughter Greta Dixon of Carterville, two sons: Sean Dodson and wife Lisa of Webb City and Corey Dodson of Carthage, one brother Richard Dodson and wife Margaret of Wentworth and one sister-in-law Pam Dodson of Joplin. He is also survived by two granddaughters: Taylor Dodson and Sydney Dixon.
Ron is preceded in death by one brother Robert Dodson.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.

Pearl Maxine Frellick of Afton, OK passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at her home. She was 84.
Pearl was born April 19, 1933 in Eureka Springs, AR to Silas Edgar and Jane Ellen (Moore) Palmer. She had lived in the Picher and Afton area most of her life and she attended most of her school years in Picher School System, but graduated from Afton High School in 1952. She sold honey, pecans and Stanley Products. She was a member of the Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Afton, OK. She loved her family and she loved the Lord.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers Richard Stratton, Luke Stratton, Wilbert Palmer, Jesse Palmer and Paul Palmer and a sister Ethel Marie Dilbeck.
She married Henry Frellick May 26, 1951 and he survives of the home. Additional Survivors include 2 sons Tommy Frellick of Afton, OK and Larry Frellick of Catoosa, OK, 2 daughters Debbie Groseclose of Seattle, WA and Kathy Biggs of Claremore, OK, 1 brother Eddie Palmer of Webb City, MO, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Rodney was born October 11, 1946 in Wichita, KS to Otis Hilburn and Lola Myers. He had lived in the Miami area for the past 20 years moving from Oklahoma City. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a member of the VFW Post in Grove. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Miami, OK. Rodney was a salesman for Campbell Wholesale in Tulsa for the past 15 years where he thoroughly loved his customers.
He married the love of his life Elaine (Inlow) Slaughter March 4, 1966; she proceeded in death, October 10, 2013 and by his parents and several uncles and aunts.

Mrs. Judith “Judy” Glasson, 80, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away early Thursday morning, June 22, 2017 at the end of a brief but aggressive bout with cancer. She was in the comfort of her home surrounded by love.
Judy was born in Chicago on February 10, 1937 and was adopted by Ivan and Evelyn Matteson. She became an elementary school teacher and worked until she married Richard Glasson on July 9, 1960 and had four children. She enjoyed her small faith group, St. Mary’s lunch group, bowling, grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and laughing. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Judy is survived by her husband, Richard; her four children, Dawn (Craig) Heslin of Baxter Springs, Kansas, Dee (Denny) Redmon of Joplin, Jeanne Hunter (Kent Caudell) of Joplin, and Eric (Laurie) Glasson of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Meghan, Josh, Brock, Cassie, Craig Jr., Chris, and Vivian; and one great-grandchild, Ethan.

Charlotte Gagen
Charlotte Ann Pope was born on December 28, 1937 to Clarence Pope and Retta Kasinger in Bakersfield, CA.
As a young girl she moved to Tustin, CA. Charlotte graduated from Tustin High School. She met a man, James Franklin Phillips. From that marriage she had four children. Victoria Lynn, Karin LaVerne, Robert James and David Michael. She was a housewife and the most amazing woman!! Charlotte got her cosmetology license to cut hair. In 1974 she meet the most amazing man, John Phillips Gagen. On July 4th of this year would have been 43 years of marriage to “Jack”. Charlotte got a job in a factory and from that career, she became a buyer for a company. She progressed into the most amazing purchasing agent any business would want. Charlotte was a beautiful, amazing, talented, God loving woman. Her entire life was about her family. She sewed, crocheted, knitted, gardened, cooked, made arts and crafts, etc. Then one day she got sick and then had many illnesses after. Charlotte survived cancer not once but four times! Yet she persevered!!! God had her hand. No complaints from Charlotte. Charlotte & Jack moved to Seneca, MO in 2002. They created the most wonderful private park on 40 acres that anyone could dream of. There are so many memories from California days, and so many more from Missouri. Charlotte loved her children, her grandkids and her great-grandkids. Every moment, every picture, every phone call, made her day!! Everyone in her family has been blessed to have been loved unconditionally, by this woman. She was proud to be called Mom, Mommy and Grandma. She was especially proud to be called a child of God. Fly high Charlotte!

Larry Dixon
A curious intellect with a compassionate heart, Larry Dixon has been a part of the Lockwood community since the 1970s, as a high school science teacher, high school academic team coach, pool manager, library board member, Sunday school teacher, gardener, softball coach and “chauffeur.”
Larry Eugene Dixon, of Lockwood, Missouri, departed this life June 21, 2017, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home at the age of 70.
He was born Oct. 15, 1946, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, the son of Frances and Carl Dixon, an engineer with Kansas City Southern. He grew up in Heavener, Oklahoma, with two siblings -- older brother Jim and younger sister Carla. He enjoyed the outdoors, comic books, reading science fiction and playing trombone in the band.
He attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg, earning a bachelor’s in chemistry, a master’s degree in physical science and a commission in the U.S. Army ROTC. Most importantly, he met his wife of 50 years, Melinda, there over a game of cards in the student union during their freshman year. Then, they were married between their junior semesters. Larry and Melinda’s off-campus home was the site of weekly Star Trek nights and they developed a mutual fondness for cooking. Larry was known for his stir-fry and handmade New Year’s Day pizza.
Fulfilling his military duty, Larry attended signal corps officer basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was deployed to Vietnam with the 39th Signal Battalion and assigned as communications officer to a Pershing Missile Battalion as the Battalion Wire Officer and later Battalion Adjutant at a base called “Plantation” between Long Bihn and Bihn Hoa. As wire officer, he was responsible for all of south central South Vietnam's military telephone lines and, later, as adjutant for the entire battalion's administration. Before he was sent home in 1971, he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service, the national defense service medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received his honorable discharge in 1975 and was a member of the Roy E. Carr American Legion Post 372.
As a civilian, Larry entered the engineering world as a power systems engineer at Eagle Picher in Joplin, Missouri. He was involved in analysis of NASA's Lunar Rover's batteries, development of batteries for the Space Shuttle, and various missile battery systems for the defense department including the Tomahawk cruise missile. Throughout his life, he remained up-to-date with science and technology and looked forward to the latest innovations.
He chose to enter teaching to spend more time with his family, after his daughter, Michelle, was born in 1974. He coached her summer softball teams for more than a decade, often providing transportation for other players. He was always encouraging of, not only Michelle, but her friends. He enjoyed taking pictures and video of their activities.
Larry also was proud of his New Zealand daughter, Jo Tyler Boyd, who stayed with their family as an AFS exchange student during the 1991-1992 school year. They remained close. Larry and Melinda even traveled to New Zealand. He also enjoyed traveling with his family to mountains, canyons, Alaska and Washington D.C.
Larry taught science three years at Miller High School before being hired at Lockwood High School in 1976 and teaching full-time until 2001 and another 10 years part-time. He never hesitated to challenge his students. Several returned to thank him for preparing them for college-level courses. And many students have gone on to science-related fields, including healthcare, engineering and education. He was named a Joplin Globe Distinguished Educator in 1993, after being nominated by former student Justin Ogden, who is now an orthopedic surgeon in Lamar, Missouri. And, he was recognized by the University of Missouri-Columbia as an Outstanding Teacher, nominated by former student Brenda Huser, now a chiropractor in Lexington, Kentucky.
He enjoyed being a grandfather to William Reagan and was proud of William’s success playing the violin, including his recent graduation from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in music performance.
Larry also received the Carol Farmer Founders Award in 2006 from the Missouri Academic Coaches Association, of which he was a past president, for his lifetime of service, in partnership with Melinda. In addition to building a formidable program at Lockwood High School, they also organized highly-respected tournaments, including Mind Games, one of the largest annual tournaments ever in southwest Missouri, averaging 64 teams from 1993 until 2012. Larry, with Melinda, also was named the grand marshal of the 2015 Lockwood September Days parade, as representatives of the teaching community.
He served on the Lockwood Park Board and spent several summers as its pool manager. More recently, he had been a member of the Lockwood Library Board. Larry also taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church for decades and he had stayed involved with education, providing science-related tutoring. He and Melinda stayed involved with academic tournaments with a question-writing service. And he devoted hours each day to his garden. Even in his last days at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Larry continued to share his kind heart and interest in others’ well-being.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Carl and Frances Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda of Lockwood, Missouri; daughter, Michelle Brooks of Jefferson City, Missouri, and her husband Stephen; grandson, William Reagan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; brother, Jim of Miami, Oklahoma, and his wife Charlene; sister, Carla of Oologah, Oklahoma, and her husband LaRue; and their exchange-student daughter, Jo (Tyler) Boyd of Taupo, New Zealand.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017, in the First Baptist Church of Lockwood. Burial will follow in Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time in the church. Jim married Margaret (Whitledge) on August 20, 1954. He often reminded us of the story that he had to borrow a car to get married. He adored her. Together they raised seven children. Jimmy Wayne, Jr (Sharon) of Liberal, MO, Douglas (Randi) of Oronogo, MO, Mark (Amy) of Liberal, MO, Kathy Miller (Keith) of Liberal, MO, David (Lynn) of Liberal, MO, Greg (Melissa) of Galena, KS, and Brian (Sabra) of Liberal, MO. He had twenty-nine grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Jim was a strong Christian man. He and Margaret accepted Jesus as their savior on Easter morning in 1971 and their lives and the lives of their children were forever changed. Jim loved to sing and he had an amazing voice, a loud, powerful voice that when you heard him sing you could feel his love for his Lord all through you. His favorite song "said" grace fought this battle and sin died here. Jim passed peacefully, surrounded by seventy members of his family. He was loved and will be missed by many. He surrendered to the ministry in 1977 and pastored several area churches.
