Omer Bethel

Mr. Omer Tillman Bethel, 88, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at his home after a sudden illness.

Omer entered this life on November 18, 1928, in Anderson, Missouri, one of two children born to the late Hoyt and Stella (Schneider) Bethel. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson. On December 23, 1947, in Anderson, he was united in marriage to Frances Jewell Rogers and to this union five children were born. For several years he was employed by NewMac Electric, retiring as Chief Engineer. After retiring, Omer continued to farm, later purchasing a bulldozer and joining his son Dennis in the operation of Bethel Backhoe and Dump Truck Service. He enjoyed farming, hunting and spending time in his garden. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Pineville American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Bethel on May 12, 2006; and two children, Dennis Bethel and Carol Peschang.

Omer is survived by his three children, Kathy Palmer and husband, Glen, of St. James, Missouri, Keith Bethel of Fair Grove, Missouri and Ed Bethel and wife, Renee, of Anderson; thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a sister, Marcella Farrah of Mexico, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Bethel are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Tracy Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Richard Bethel, Wes Bethel, Joe Bethel, Dan Bethel, Randy Bethel and Sean Wilson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the Pineville American Legion c/o of the funeral home.
