Douglas (Doug) Paul Myers, age 60, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Doug, son of Jo Ann Myers, was born on April 2, 1958, in McCall, Idaho.

While attending Carl Junction High School, Doug worked at JK Machining. He quickly realized that was not the profession for him. He loved the outdoors and always wanted to be in it.

He was a self-taught painter by trade, he would say. He could paint anything and teach you how. He purchased his 57 Chevy in high school that he drove for many years. That car took him through his days attending Ozark Bible College. Although he didn't graduate from there, he met many lifelong friends and formed the foundation of his faith. He attended the Christian Church of Carl Junction for many years.

Through his troubled childhood, the relationships that he made at the church were monumental. His dedication to growing in his faith pushed him to even walk the ten miles to get there on some occasions. His commitment to the church was taught to his family at a young age as his daughters grew up attending that very church.

Doug is remembered by his two daughters, Megan Crozier (Nathan) and Alysha Coon (Mike); one grandson Riley Coon, and two granddaughters Deanna and Dalynn Coon; one sister Sarah Phillips and her son Ethan, and two brothers Jack Keith and Loren.

Someone very special to him that will miss him dearly was his fiancĂ© Missy Friend. He has so many lifelong friends that are basically his family that will always carry their memories in their hearts. Doug never met a stranger and was the best friend to many. To his daughters, he was their biggest supporter, cheerleader, defender, teacher, and most importantly father.

Memorial services will be held at the Christian Church in Carl Junction on Friday, March 1, 2019. Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm with the service to follow at 1:00 pm.

Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Visit www.simpsonfh.com for online condolences.
