Thelma Pope

Thelma Lenora Pope, age 102, of Lamar, Missouri passed away February 06, 2019, at Cox Barton County Hospital.

Thelma was born September 07, 1916 in Jasper, Missouri to Fred W. Pugh and Lenora (Budd) Pugh. Thelma graduated from Jasper High School in the class of 1937. On , Thelma married Gay Route Pope in September 3, 1938 at Jasper Methodist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper for Jasper Farmers Exchange for over 30 years; she began teaching Sunday School at Blue Sunday School and later at Jasper First Baptist Church. For over 50 years, she was a member of Jasper First Baptist Church.

Thelma is survived by one son, Richard "Dick" (Linda) Pope, Jasper, Missouri; a daughter, Saundra Loveall, Lamar, Missouri; five grandchildren, Julie (Mark) Dittmer, Kansas City, Missouri, Rick (Tracee) Pope, Liberty, Missouri, Gina (James) Hatfield, Jasper, Missouri, Jennifer (Matt) Coats, Billings, Missouri, Rob (Stacy) Pope, Jasper, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren, Zac Dittmer, Mason Hatfield, Halle Dittmer, Madelyn Hatfield, NIck Pope, Nolan Coats, Austin Pope, Eli Coats, Brooklyn Pope.




Preceding her in death were her parents, Fred Walter Pugh and Lenora Pugh; her husband Gay Pope, siblings Frank Pugh, Phil Pugh, Helen McClintock, Walt Pugh, Raymond Pugh, and Daisy Cook; and a son in law Kenny Loveall.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Jasper First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Waters Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday at Jasper First Baptist Church.

Contributions are suggested to the Jasper Baptist Church or Waters Cemetery in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
