Jack Bowyer

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Jack Wayne Bowyer was born in the Dickenson County Kansas community of Manchester on May 3, 1933. He passed into the presence of his Savior on February 20, 2019 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 17 days.

Jack was the captain of the Chapman HS basketball team, a position which drew the attention of an underclassman by the name of Vesta. They would be married on April 24, 1955 and enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage. Jack joined the Marines and was honorably discharged in 1954. He graduated from Iola Community College, Nothrup Aeronautical Institute where he took accelerated classes toward his engineering degree and later from Wichita State University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering which he used as a draftsman for Boeing and later as a flight test engineer for Beach Aircraft.

In 1964 he took a job with Rocketdyne and moved his family to Southwest Missouri. (One of his granddaughters thought he took a job as a short order cook because she heard him say he worked at the "Rocket Diner"). Shortly after the conclusion of the Apollo project Jack built his dairy barn and resumed his career as a farmer which he continued until just before his passing, a profession he thoroughly enjoyed.

Jack was a devout Christian and a private supporter of several missionaries. He pastored the church at May Community for 8 years, the Seneca Full Gospel church in Seneca, Missouri for 14 years, and most recently was the worship leader at the Church of Hope in Neosho, MO.

He is survived by his wife Vesta of the home. Three children, Kim Bowyer and wife Maureen, of Goodman Missouri; Kathy Bradford and husband Paul of Neosho Missouri; and Kala Shuler and husband David also of Neosho.

Eight grandchildren, Kendra Bowyer; Kourtney Pleasant and husband, Josh; Becca Crow and husband, Chad; Andy Bradford and wife, Mandy; Amanda Bradford and husband, Brad; Timo Bradford and wife, Megan; Dustin Davidson; and Jonathan Shuler.

Fifteen great grandchildren and a multitude of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John Aticheson and Hazel Amanda Bowyer, his brother Dale, sister Rowen and three great grandchildren, Grace, Isiah, and Marcum.

Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho MO, Sunday February 24 between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Services will be held at Clark's at 10:00 AM Monday February 25 with internment following at Oakwood cemetery.
