Carol Ann Johnson Powell, age 73, Greenfield, MO, passed away early Sunday morning, February 17, 2019 at Cox Health South, Springfield, MO. Carol was born December 20, 1945 to the late Don McKinnon and Rachel (Gregory) Johnson. She was a 1963 graduate of Carthage High School. Carol was employed by Dyno Nobel in Carthage.
She married Kenny Powell on June 1, 2001 in Miami, OK; he survives. Carol enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, canning hot salsa, and watching crime shows.
Survivors include two daughters, Dana Smith (Leon), Oronogo, MO, and Kim Siers (Randy Smith), Joplin, MO; one step-son, Todd Lee Powell, Tulsa, OK; one step-sister, Judy Howard (Steve), Carthage, MO; five grandchildren, Kilie McGown (Dale), Daniella McPherson (Hunter), Logan Smith (Johanna), Hailey White, and William Smart; eight great-grandchildren, Jaden Donner, Ellie McPherson, Makhia McGown, Lea McGown, Alaina McGown, Houston McGown, Londyn Smith, and Kysen Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, Don McKinnon and step-mother, Pauline; her mother, Rachel Johnson and step-father, Corbett Johnson; three sisters, Joli Vie Platko, Mona Stout and Donna Lucky; one brother, Rick McKinnon; one step-brother, Melvin Johnson; and three step-sisters, Janice Judd, Wanda Kirk and Janett Joyce Johnson.
Visitation will be held 6-7 pm, Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. Funeral services will be held 10 am, Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Knell Mortuary. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Knell Mortuary.
