Bill Johnson

Bill E. Johnson, age 80 of Neosho, entered into rest on May 24, 2017 at Medicalodge in Neosho, following a short illness. 

Bill was born July 29, 1936 in Neosho, the son of Charley and Bessie (Clark) Johnson. He was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1954. He served in the Missouri National Guard and Army Reserves, 1954-1965. He worked at Pet Milk in Production and retired in 1985 after 31 years. Following his retirement from Pet Milk, he worked at Joplin Building Materials until 1999. His passions included his family and supporting the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid sportsman, and softball and tennis were among his best sports, winning two city championships in tennis. 

Bill and Elsie Pearl Franklin were married on Feb. 26, 1972 in Neosho and she preceded him in death on October 20, 2014. He is survived by three sons, Jerry Johnson and wife, Donna of Pea Ridge, AR; Jimmy Johnson of Panama City, FL and Mark Johnson and wife, Kelly of Joplin; two brothers, David Johnson and wife, Sharon of Springfield and Harold Johnson and wife, Sara of Collinsville, OK; one sister, Barbara Rice of Neosho and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ross and husband, T. J. of Winter Park, FL; Ben Johnson of Carlisle, PA; Curtis Johnson of Neosho, Preston Johnson of Joplin and two great grandchildren, Riley Ross and Corbin Johnson.
