David Diehls

David G. Diehls, 77, La Russell, MO, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 2, 2017 at his home. David George Diehls was born February 11, 1940 in Janesville, WI to the late George C. Diehls and Maxine (Dillree) Diehls. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, Class of 1958 and went on to study one year at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. David worked as a farmer, draftsman, a yardman for Tapjac, and for Daylight Donuts here in Carthage. He married Elbertha Leusink on November 11, 1967 in La Russell, MO; she survives. He was a member of the Avilla First Baptist Church, Avilla, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Elbertha, one daughter, Denise Pody (husband Rick), Wausau, WI; two sons, Kyle Diehls (wife Kim), Springfield, MO, and James Diehls (wife Shannon), La Russell, MO; three brothers, Fred Diehls (wife Judy), Racine, WI, Dale Diehls, Gurnee, IL, and Larry Diehls, Beloit, WI; two sisters, Mary Lynn Warhns (husband Mike), Florida, and Susan Hasse (husband Pete), Florida; and thirteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held 1:30-2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Avilla First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. Minister Lance Green will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Avilla Cemetery, Avilla, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
