Bud Rogers

(From Buchanan Funeral Home)

Arthur James (Bud) Rogers began his earthly journey on June 25, 1947. He was the son of Joseph Allen Rogers and Juanita (Spencer) Rogers. He went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 11, 2017. Bud’s death was sudden and a shock to all of us.

Bud resided with his parents on a farm near Bois D’ Arc in Greene County just west of Yeakley Chapel before moving to the farm in Lawrence County west of Miller in May of 1953. Bud had resided at this farm until his death.

Bud had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of six. When the Lord called him to become a minister of his word, Round Grove Baptist Church ordained Bud. Bud’s first calling was to the First Baptist Church of Golden City, MO. Bud became the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Exeter, MO January 2003, where he remained until his death. Bud enjoyed working with the youth. Bud was to help at the Baptist Hill near Mt. Vernon in the coming weeks.

Bud graduated from Miller, MO. He attended Missouri State University and then went on to study Broadcasting/Speech at Elkins Institute of Radio in Texas. His first experience in radio was with KRMO in Monett, MO. He was Operations Manager at KKLL in Webb City/Joplin, MO. Like most ministers, Bud had other jobs in his career but he enjoyed radio the most.

Bud studied Gospel Music at Ben Speer’s Stamps-Baxter School of Music. Bud loved to sing, play the piano and guitar. Bud enjoyed listening to all southern gospel music.

Bud’s parents and brother, Jerry Allen Rogers, preceded him in death. Survivors include two sisters, Lenyce Rogers, Springfield MO and Patricia Hall of Texas; two nieces, Gail West of MO and Tracy McDaniel of Georgia; six great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends who loved him.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Buchanan Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Bill Cox will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Bud. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
